I am Thor

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: The Curtain

The repercussions of Asgard's annihilation of the Dark Elves echoed across the Nine Realms. Only Earth, shielded by Kamar-Taj's magic, remained oblivious to the tremors of terror spreading through the cosmos. But for the rest of the realms, Odin's immense display of power was a stark reminder of Asgard's strength, evoking the ancient memories of their conqueror's might.

In the distant corners of the universe, powerful empires reevaluated their stances on Asgard. Diplomatic envoys scrambled to establish alliances, desperate to secure any measure of peace with the awakened giant. Asgard, once known for its relative peacefulness, now loomed as a threat of immense proportions.

On the ruined world of Titan, Thanos stood in silence, his gaze fixed on the darkened sky. His Black Order watched him warily, each lost in their own thoughts as they contemplated the implications of Odin's power. At last, he spoke in a measured, slow tone.

"Odin still possesses a strength few can fathom," Thanos murmured. "Had Asgard turned against me for the Tesseract, things might have ended very differently."

None dared respond. Even Cull Obsidian, who usually broke silences with his brutish loyalty, was hushed by Corvus Glaive's swift elbow jab—a silent reminder of the peril in interrupting their master's contemplation.

"In any case," Thanos continued, his tone severe, "until Odin's time ends, we will tread carefully near the Nine Realms." His order was clear: Asgard's power was not to be trifled with, not even by him.

Meanwhile, in Sakaar, the Grandmaster reviewed news of the battle with a mixture of apprehension and admiration.

"Contact my dear friend Thor, and convey that Sakaar offers its eternal alliance with Asgard in friendship," he instructed his aide, chuckling to himself as he added, "Though we know just how deep our 'friendship' truly runs."

The Grandmaster dismissed his attendants, turning to watch the arena below with a resigned sigh. "No champion can last these days. I need someone colossal, brutal—something to give the people a show." He glanced skyward, briefly wondering if even his coliseum could entertain the might of an Asgardian god.

Back on Asgard, the victory brought only somber silence. The palace brimmed with activity as officials managed the aftermath, but the air was thick with reflection and loss. Asgard had achieved an absolute victory, but the cost had been a shift in their values—and a powerful reminder to their enemies.

Odin, having exhausted himself, entered the deep trance of the Odin-Sleep upon his return. It took seven long days for him to awaken. When he emerged, he was visibly changed, quieter, and reflective. His decision was final: he would leave Asgard, entrusting the realm's future to Thor.

"I have walked a path of power and conquest," Odin said as he addressed his sons. "But now I need solitude to reflect on my life and the choices I've made."

He turned to Loki, his gaze softening. "I once saw you as the key to controlling Jotunheim, but in the end, I chose to love you as my son. For that, I apologize—though too late, it seems."

Loki's usual sarcasm faded as he struggled to respond, but Odin didn't wait for an answer. Instead, he looked to Thor, his expression a mixture of pride and apprehension.

"I raised you to inherit Asgard's throne, yet you have followed a path I could not foresee. Asgard's fate lies with you now, and I pray you prove worthy of its legacy—perhaps one day, stronger than I."

Thor felt a surge of warmth in his chest. His father's acceptance of his ideals filled him with renewed purpose.

Just then, a notification rang through Thor's mind.

"Congratulations to the host for completing the Odin-related mission: 'War and Peace.' Reward acquired: Passive Skill—Man of Steel!"

An intense warmth radiated through Thor's body, reshaping and strengthening him from the inside out. Odin, noticing the surge of energy in his son, clasped his arm, studying him with newfound awe.

"Incredible," he whispered. "Your physical strength has surpassed all I've seen. Perhaps this is the strength you'll need to lead Asgard into a new era."

Thor nodded with resolve, though Odin's eyes turned serious.

"Remember," Odin warned, "no defense is absolute, no power invincible. The universe is full of beings who could challenge even the greatest of us. Never grow complacent, my son."

Thor met his father's gaze, his resolve unshaken. "I will remember, Father."
