Chapter 342: Chapter 345 A broken man
After Serafall had gone, Sullivan then looked at Sona as if to ask her if she had anything to say to him.
Sona met Sullivan's gaze and sighed softly.
"I don't have anything to say anymore. But are you really her fan?"
"Yup, I really like her."
Sullivan admitted it honestly. She was his favorite character in High School DxD.
"Is that so then? Please take care of my big sister from now on."
Sona bowed to him a little, and then she went back to work. Sullivan looked at her with confusion, unsure of how to respond to her sudden change in attitude.
When he saw that she didn't want to elaborate anything further, it should be his queue to leave.
Sullivan got out of the student council room and he didn't want to go back to class. So why don't he just skip class then.
He walked in a direction that wasn't his class. He headed toward the exit of the school.
When he reached the entrance, He could feel that someone was looking at him from far away.
'This kind of gaze is full of bad intentions. It shouldn't be the gaze of anyone I know.'
Sullivan acted like he didn't know that someone was watching him. He went toward where he should be alone to lure them out.
As he walked towards a secluded area, Sullivan could feel that someone was getting closer to where he was.
'This place should be secluded enough for them to make their move."
Sullivan stopped, and it was like what he had thought. Someone appeared and wanted to kill him right away.
He used a pistol with a silencer. So he must be a human.
"Devil incarnate, you had abandoned humanity so die!"
He shot at his head with great precision, but the bullet just bounced off while making a solid thud.
"That tickle."
"How!"
He then shot Sullivan eight more times until he ran out of ammo. Sullivan just let him shoot. It wasn't like the bullets could do anything to him.
But he had to protect his uniform. Sullivan had used his chakra to cover his uniform, so the bullet also bounced off his clothes too.
The man who saw that he couldn't do anything to Sullivan wanted to run away right away.
"Stop"
But with just one word out of his mouth, the man stopped in his tracks. He was bound by tree vines that came out of the ground.
"Who are you, and why do you think it was a good idea to use a gun against someone from this side of the world? And I am not a devil incarnate or whatever. I am not a human to begin with."
Sullivan said it with a smile. His eyes change color.
The man gritted his teeth. He made a huge mistake. He thought that Sullivan was just a low-class devil who had just been reincarnated by the devil in the school. Who would have thought that he wasn't one and he wasn't human too, but a yokai?
"Now that you know, what should I do with you?"
Sullivan thought about it. Should he bring him to Sona or Rias?
"Please let me go. I-It was just a misunderstanding!"
The man pleads.
"Nope, you can forget about leaving without consequences. If I were weak, I would have died. I need to send you to the authorities."
The man went silent. He then tried to bite his tongue and kill himself, but Sullivan could feel what he wanted to do, so he put a vine in his mouth so he could not kill himself.
"So much conviction. Can you tell me what happened to you so you are so desperate to kill a devil?"
Sullivan used the power of the true angel, which wasn't connected to the divine. It made the man see the light for a second before he confessed his sin.
He lost everything to the devil. They killed his daughter and his wife in cold blood. Sullivan's heart sank as he listened to the man's heartbreaking confession.
The weight of his loss and the cruelty inflicted upon his family by the devil became painfully clear.
"I-I will kill them all. I won't let it go!"
"Tell me what the devil you see looks like."
The man then told him, and Sullivan knew who it was immediately.
'Diodora Astaroth, that bastard. No wonder.'
Sullivan hated him more than Hyudo Issei. That man should be punished with his hellfire for eternity.
Sullivan then looked at the broken man. He was ready to die at any moment, but he shook his head.
"Hey, I won't let this matter go if you don't tell me who told you about me. How about that? Oh, and I might help you achieve the revenge that you wanted."
Sullivan wanted to use Phoenix Down, but it might be too much. He needed to learn not to defy death. Everything that happened was part of the circle of life. Even though it might be cruel, it was necessary.
