Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Old Classmate
The rain quickly intensified, falling in lines like threads, creating puddles on the ground that gathered into streams and rushed into the drainage.
Forget-Me Mountain was already within sight, its summit cloaked by a formation, shrouded in mist, surrounded by blooming plum blossoms, intoxicatingly red.
In bygone days, when he was a student at Mei County High School, Su Hang, along with classmates Yue Dan, Ye Chuqing, Yang Zhenlin, and Chen Xuemei, had often come here to admire the plum blossoms.
Now, although the scenery here was still beautiful, it held a hint of the smell of gunpowder.
The rain falling from the sky turned red, as if the heavens were weeping blood.
Upon closer inspection, within each red raindrop lurked extremely complex and precise runes.
This was the Life-Devouring Talisman!
"The demonic rain has started to fall, now we're really in trouble," Su Hang immediately bit the tip of his finger and drew a Taoist talisman on the car window using blood that contained immortal power.
This talisman emitted a faint purple light, preventing any demonic rain from approaching the car within an inch and caused it to fall askew to the ground.
"Demons atop the mountain, listen up! Stop the formation immediately, or we will not hesitate to launch missiles at any cost, directly demolishing Forget-Me Mountain!"
Many people were up ahead, including fans of Tang Lifen and the Super Police squad, stationed every few steps, heavily guarding the pathways to Forget-Me Mountain.
The speaker was Gao Jian, the team lead of the Mei County Super Police squad, a cultivator in the stage of Houtian Perfection.
"Let's not talk about whether your little toys can get close to Forget-Me Mountain; even if they really do land here, the only thing that'll get hurt is the thousands of animals we've brought here," a faint voice spread from the summit of Forget-Me Mountain, causing the plum trees to sway gently and causing rocks to roll down from the top.
At the same time, ten people were decapitated and thrown down from the mountain.
Regarding missiles as toys and Earthlings as livestock, indifferent to life, this is the brazen audacity of demon cultivators from beyond the realm.
"Charge up the mountain with me!" Gao Jian shouted, raising his rifle.
He and an old martial teacher dressed in a white training suit took the lead with over a hundred Super Police, rushing toward the dozen or so demon cultivators guarding the mountain path.
"I must get the demonic rain to stop quickly!" Su Hang was very clear that one drop of demonic rain penetrating the body, compared to ten or a hundred, resulted in completely different outcomes, as it directly affected the speed at which the essence of life force was drained.
The car moved forward several hundred meters, drawing even closer to Forget-Me Mountain.
Atop Forget-Me Mountain, the Devouring Moon Ancient Formation created a unique aura that enshrouded an area of a thousand meters.
Both the ordinary rain and the demonic rain were scattered in the air, unable to penetrate this aura.
"Hey, where are you going?" Li Qingdai quickly followed Su Hang out of the car.
"To kill demon cultivators!" Su Hang glanced back at her, "You stay here, don't wander off."
"You? Kill demon cultivators? Let's not be suicidal, okay?" Li Qingdai lifted her pale and delicate hand, grabbing his wrist.
She thought that Su Hang, who had only been cultivating for a little over a year, might have a marvelous ability to draw talismans that could ward off the rain, but certainly couldn't compare to the Super Police.
After all, they were super soldiers trained by the nation since the revival of Heaven and Earth, tasked with defending various territories.
Each of them was at least a middle-stage Houtian cultivator and wielded new-type guns with strong penetrating power, often participating in various battles and with rich combat experience.
In comparison to any of them, Su Hang was as different as heaven and earth.
So, if the Super Police couldn't resolve the trouble, Su Hang definitely couldn't.
"I practice the Martial Cultivation Dao to eliminate demons. Now that the demons are before my eyes, there is no reason to shrink back," Su Hang's right arm shook, breaking free from Li Qingdai's hold, and he strode forward.
Li Qingdai lunged forward, clinging to Su Hang like a kangaroo, saying, "You've only been practicing for a year, your cultivation level isn't enough, talk about eliminating demons later."
Su Hang touched her arm with a flick of his hand, causing Li Qingdai's grip to loosen and she fell to the ground. By the time she stood up, Su Hang was already several meters away.
She stamped her foot in anger and cursed, "You big fool! Those demon cultivators kill without blinking an eye. Rushing straight up there, what's the difference between that and courting death?"
Su Hang ignored her, passing through the fans of Tang Lifen, and in front of him appeared a delicate and quiet young woman, her features picturesque, with thin, slightly upturned lips, captivatingly red.
It was his high school desk-mate Yue Dan, now a college student in her second year in the Chinese Department of Huaxia University, an aura more refined than before.
"What are you doing here?" Yue Dan revealed a surprised and shy smile, her excited eyes shaping into crescents.
Su Hang halted in his tracks, saying, "I've come to kill Demon Cultivators!"
"Kill Demon Cultivators, huh..." A tall and hefty man with a yellowish complexion, who was also his old classmate, named Yang Zhenlin, walked by.
Back in high school at Mei County, he had always ranked first, while Yang Zhenlin was eternally second.
"Just with you." Yang Zhenlin chuckled disdainfully, "You think you're invincible after a bit more than a year at that petty Martial Arts Institute, save it, don't embarrass yourself."
"Mind your own business," Chen Xuemei said, full of scorn. She was another of Su Hang's old classmates. "The moment he decided to go to that so-called institute, he was destined to be a person from a different world than ours."
"Slap!" Su Hang raised his hand and slapped it on Yang Zhenlin's shoulder, sending him sprawling to the ground for a close encounter with the dirt.
He glanced at Chen Xuemei askance, scaring her like a startled rabbit, enough to make her run away several meters.
"A couple of keyboard warriors also dare to spout nonsense in front of me, looking for a beating..." Su Hang murmured disdainfully, directly walking ahead.
"Be careful!" Yue Dan shouted after Su Hang's receding figure.
Yang Zhenlin, lying prostrate on the ground, was already burning with rage, but seeing Yue Dan so concerned about Su Hang kindled a fiery blaze in his heart.
He was acutely aware that Yue Dan had chosen Huaxia University without any hesitation, solely because Su Hang had applied there.
More than a year had passed, and Yue Dan's feelings for Su Hang hadn't changed in the slightest, even though she knew Su Hang had a girlfriend, she still couldn't stop thinking about him.
To know that he had been turning down Chen Xuemei and rejecting all the girls who pursued him, just to chase after Yue Dan. He had made so many sacrifices for her.
But what about that guy? He hadn't done anything, and what's so good about him, how could he not compare to him?
Yang Zhenlin grumbled resentfully, "Yue Dan, you don't really believe he can actually kill a Demon Cultivator, do you?"
"Why wouldn't I believe it?" Yue Dan didn't even look at him, her serene eyes firmly fixed on Su Hang's back. "He is the most outstanding person in this world, whatever he does, he'll achieve remarkable accomplishments."
Yang Zhenlin felt as if he'd been punched hard in the nose.
Why? Why is it always like this?
Whatever he did, she would look at him with disdain, yet whatever Su Hang did, she was filled with admiration.
"Yue Dan, cultivation and studying are completely different things," Chen Xuemei said with the air of someone trying to rescue a lost soul, "My older cousin is a Super Police, and he told me that cultivation is incredibly hard; talent, resources, master instructors, and luck are indispensable."
"Cultivation requires all sorts of Spiritual Medicine, which means burning through cash. Su Hang comes from a farming village; he had to scrimp and borrow to scrape together the eighty thousand points tuition for the institute. Just on the aspect of resources alone, he's already stifled," sneered Yang Zhenlin.
Li Qingdai, hearing Yang Zhenlin's words, couldn't help but nod silently; the saying poor scholars and rich warriors have abounded since ancient times. For common families, it's simply too much to manage.
"You never told me this before. Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Yue Dan glared at Yang Zhenlin, her eyes roving as if she was pondering something.
"You... you aren't planning to fund Su Hang's cultivation, are you?" Yang Zhenlin, seeing Yue Dan's tacit agreement, felt a deep sense of powerlessness wel within him. "Su Hang, I didn't lose to you, I lost to Yue Dan."
"No way... What is that guy up to?" Chen Xuemei seemed to see something astonishing, her voice thick with surprise.
The Super Police were engaged in battle with the Demon Cultivators, with only a few staying behind, which left several of their cannons unguarded.
Seizing the moment when the Super Police were preoccupied, Su Hang surreptitiously adjusted the direction of the cannons, aiming them at Forget-Me Mountain.
"Without any professional training, how could he possibly operate the cannon? This reckless madman..." Li Qingdai felt that Su Hang had completely changed; once gentle, humble, and generous, he was now bold to the point of recklessness and arrogance.
"Who are you? Stop immediately!" A Super Police who had stayed behind spotted Su Hang and aimed his gun at him.
Su Hang was quicker, hitting the launch button.
The whistling cannonball flew across the sky and struck the main peak of Forget-Me Mountain.
"Boom!"
Dirt and stones exploded into the air, clouds of earth billowing upwards, as large chunks of debris rolled down from the mountaintop, smashing the plum trees into disarray.
The Demon Cultivators of the Devouring Moon Ancient Clan and the group of Super Police who were in combat all stopped to look towards the summit of Forget-Me Mountain.
