Chapter 29: Chapter 29: A1-Type Battle Armor Completion
William, the chief designer of the Iron Armor, quickly emerged from his warm office upon seeing his boss, Carl, coming for an inspection.
Accompanying Carl on a tour of the Iron Armor production line, William was sweating nervously, afraid Carl might find something he wasn't satisfied with.
Through William, Carl learned that the large-scale manufacturing of the Iron Armor was progressing smoothly.
Although S.H.I.E.L.D. had secretly raised the prices of rare metals on the international market, Carl had prepared ahead of time and stockpiled enough materials, so the impact wasn't significant.
So far, 5,000 units of the C1 police battle armor had been produced.
The automated production line was still running nonstop, and as long as Carl didn't give the order to stop, the machines would keep working around the clock, 24/7.
Meanwhile, 200 units of the B1 export battle armor had been completed, and with a target of 500, the project was nearly on track.
As for the best-quality, highest-performance A1 battle armor, with a planned production of 20 units, all 20 had already been completed ahead of schedule.
The A1 battle armor was the culmination of the Mark 1 to Mark 6 series suits.
Standing at two meters tall, it had a maximum flight speed of Mach 3.6, and a full-range endurance of 80,000 kilometers, enough to circle the Earth twice.
In terms of weaponry, it was equipped with an arc pulse cannon (Mark I), a cluster cannon (on the chest), micro-armor-piercing projectiles (on the shoulders), heavy missiles (on the left arm), laser weapons (on the right arm), and air-to-air micro-missiles (on the back).
The suit also featured a holographic projection panel, intelligent flight control system, satellite navigation, anti-icing systems for high-altitude operation, and detachable backpack weapons.
Furthermore, it was built with enhanced composite armor, titanium alloy, fiberglass, and other materials, giving it exceptional defensive capabilities.
One could say this A1 battle armor was Carl's attempt to match Tony Stark's Mark VII armor in terms of specifications.
While it might not surpass the Mark VII in every aspect, it certainly came close.
As for the B1 and C1 models, they were simply lower-tier versions Carl planned to sell to generate revenue.
Though the combat capabilities of these two models were not weak, they were nowhere near the A1's level.
Looking at the 20 brand-new A1 units lined up in formation, Carl's face showed a satisfied expression.
The circular Ark reactor on the chest of each suit also sported a red-and-white umbrella logo, just as he had requested.
"William, I'm very pleased with your work," Carl praised.
Hearing the compliment, William looked a bit flustered, and instead of accepting the praise, he quickly deflected it back to Carl.
"These were all thanks to you, Boss. If you hadn't been so foresighted, securing a large stockpile of rare metals on the international market in advance—"
"Not to mention the profit made from futures trading—there's no way the large-scale manufacturing of the Iron Armor would have gone so smoothly."
Hearing William's slightly awkward praise, Carl didn't laugh it off. Instead, he realized he might have been a bit too strict with his subordinates, and seeing William so flustered made him rethink his approach.
This cautious, nervous attitude didn't exactly remind Carl of the bold, fearless Americans who called for freedom; instead, it was more like an ancient servant.
Carl mused that he should probably treat his subordinates with more gentleness in the future and avoid using the "reign of terror" approach too often.
Though he could completely control his subordinates' thoughts, what if something unexpected happened?
Even if his subordinates would never pose a direct threat to his life, if they gained their freedom of thought, they could still cause trouble through waves of intense resistance.
Pushing those thoughts aside, Carl focused on his plan for the distribution of the 20 A1 battle suits.
"Red Queen, we need to deploy three A1 suits to the Sokovia headquarters, and two suits each to the seven new bases under construction."
"The remaining three suits will be for Wanda, Pietro, and me—each of us gets one."
"Also, the A1 suits should be restricted to A-level or higher clearance for use."
The D3-A1 clearance level was a part of the entire security system Carl designed for the Umbrella Corporation.
For example, A1-level clearance was for senior management, A2 was for senior scientists and researchers (with William holding an A2-level clearance), A3 was for security supervisors and agents (with Ada Wang holding A3-level clearance).
B1 was for mid-level management, and so on.
Carl himself had an S-level clearance, while Wanda and Pietro were assigned A1-level clearance, since there were some sensitive secrets within the Umbrella Corporation that they didn't need to know about.
This hierarchical structure was strict, with clear boundaries between levels.
After receiving the orders, Red Queen's voice came through Carl's wireless earpiece.
[The A1 battle armor deployment plan has been recorded.]
[Permission settings have been configured successfully.]
[Boss, should we send the suits to the various bases now via transport aircraft?]
Carl thought for a moment and added, "Keep it low-key during transport. I don't want to trigger any sensitive nerves at S.H.I.E.L.D."
[As you wish, Boss.]

After inspecting the precision manufacturing facility, Carl returned to the Hive Base, ready to find Wanda, who was in the middle of her daily training.
The lights were off in the dark neuro-response testing field.
Wanda, dressed in a black form-fitting combat suit, was completely focused as she dodged rubber bullets speeding toward her from all directions.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!" The sound of rubber bullets slicing through the air echoed nonstop.
Wanda's palms glowed with a deep crimson light, using her reflexes to cast chaotic magic attacks that deflected the incoming bullets.
Sweat was trickling down her forehead, but she moved gracefully, completing the full sequence of target detection, aiming, and attacking with agility.
In the dim training ground, groups of red light spheres whizzed through the air, hitting the rubber bullets with pinpoint accuracy.
This kind of training was extremely exhausting both mentally and physically. After just half an hour, Wanda's reflexes had noticeably slowed down.
She could've easily erected a magical shield to block the bullets from all angles, but doing so would make her lax.
What if the enemy used high-energy lasers or missiles in the future?
Blocking attacks head-on was only a last-resort defensive measure.
If she could strike first, she could eliminate the threat before the enemy even launched an attack.
So, this "counterattack" training had become part of Wanda's daily routine.
Thud! Thud!
Carl stepped into the training field, and the lights flickered on automatically.
Wanda, wearing her low-neck combat suit, exuded an aura of danger as she deftly moved across the field, making Carl recall her graceful movements in the bedroom.
But today, he had business to discuss. Normally, he'd have been right on top of her without hesitation.
"Sorry to interrupt your training, my dear. Do you remember when I told you about opening a hospital in New York?"
Wanda glanced at him, and since she was also getting tired, she gracefully walked down from the training platform, grabbed a clean towel, and wiped the sweat off her forehead.
"A hospital? I think you mentioned it over a month ago. I thought you had given up on that idea."
"Does your company still need funding?" she asked.
Carl explained, "Of course. I've already arranged for the purchase of a private hospital in New York, and all the preliminary work is done. We're just waiting for you to take on the role of director."
