Chapter 27: I Should Look Good In Front Of Our Future Duchess.
"Excuse me Your Grace, a letter has arrived from Lady Edelt."
When Owen was struggling with paperwork in his study, his steward, Logan, knocked on the door.
"Hm. Come in."
With a brief permission, the door opened quietly.
Logan then silently approached the desk and delicately placed the letter on it.
Owen glanced at the red envelope with the eagle-shaped seal representing Edelt. Without realizing, his lips curved into a beautiful arch. He then took out a paper knife from the drawer and carefully removing the sealing wax, revealed the letter written in Lucia's elegant handwriting.
---
Dear Owen,
Do you remember the promise we made at the hunting competition?
We were supposed to go horseback riding together, remember?
You mentioned a place you wanted to go together. I wonder where that place is. Since it's almost reaching the end of summer, and I hope we can visit before it's too late. I guess many people will head to the beach for the summer, don't you think so?
Your regard, Lucia Edelt.
---
After reading Lucia's letter completely, Owen recalled the promise he made at the hunting competition.
'How could I forget about this?'
There was a place he wanted to go horseback riding with Lucia.
One of the place with impressive scenery described in the original novel.
Located in Eldoris, the coastal city in the west of the Empire, he wanted to visit the seaside villa where Owen and Bella had gone for vacation together in the original side story.
'I got distracted by the fact that the story deviated from the original...'
Owen sighed deeply and rubbed his forehead.
The deviation in the original story and Lucia are totally a different matter.
He knows better than anyone that the protagonist, Bella, was behaving differently from the original.
Of course, it was important.
It was necessary to predict what might happen in the future because of it.
However, no matter how important those things were, they were not more important than Lucia.
'Think about priorities.'
Owen repeated to himself inwardly.
Since the beginning, Lucia was his priority.
The fact that wouldn't change no matter what he put beside it.
Yes.
She is his utmost importance.
"Logan."
"Yes, Your Grace."
"Prepare the guesthouse in Eldoris. I plan to visit soon."
"Yes, understood."
While it was a definite fact that he would go to Eldoris, it was necessary to prepare the place to stay in advance. Fortunately, there was no need to find separate accommodation since Owen had a villa in his name.
This fact was also included in the reason why the original Owen and Bella visited Eldoris in the novel. Also, it was suitable for enjoying the seaside and spending time together.
"Tell them to prepare two of the finest horses as well."
"Yes. I understood."
After giving instructions to Logan, Owen immediately wrote a reply to Lucia's letter.
Gracefully writing on the paper, Owen put it in a black envelope and finally sealed it with a black wolf symbolized sealing wax.
Due to the considerable amount of letters between the two, Logan accepted the letter without any further questions. It had become a familiar routine by now.
"Then, I will take my leave."
Logan bowed slightly and left the office after a brief farewell.
On his way to deliver a letter to the Edelt's Mansion, Logan suddenly remembered his friend's stories.
As he worked as a butler, there were many people around him who also worked as butlers in other mansions.
- Haa... Really! Why does our Viscount keeps falling in love and courting girls. I've sent 'who knows how many' love letters to various mansions. And it looks like I will still have to continue doing it for the next few years. This old body really couldn't keep up with the passion of my young master. What should I do about this? Ha...
It seemed like many friends were complaining about the pain of their superiors falling in love. However, Logan's perspective was different from theirs.
'The young master finally grew up and meeting someone.'
Owen had an incredible record of never having been in a relationship.
Was it just that?
Humans are social animals.
Even if not many, it was necessary to have one or two friends unknowingly.
But it seemed like this doesn't apply to Owen.
He had never even liked someone before, let alone had friends.
He was like a sword.
Someone who has no emotion and no desire.
Logan feared that his young master would be alone until he was old, leaving the Dukedom of Verdin without descendants.
So at first, Logan was surprised when Owen finally received a gift from a lady and just wanted to keep it, but since then, everything seemed to be going smoothly.
'Fortunately, very fortunate.'
Moreover, it seems like the relationship is progressing smoothly and there are no major issues on the relationship front.
As Logan found that his young master was properly 'courting' a lady, despite of his outer calmness, he was ecstatic inside.
'By the way... If this continues, will the two of them get engaged and married?'
Rumors were spreading that the two were dating, and incidents between them during the hunting competition were also circulating a lot. Considering their status and family influence being so similar, it seemed likely that they would get engaged and married.
'Is she going to be the future Duchess?'
Thinking ahead of the parties involved, Logan stroked his chin thoughtfully before coming to a conclusion.
'I guess I should look good in front of our future Duchess.'
Logan then quickly fixed his attire before he entered the Dukedom of Edelt with great courtesy.
