Chapter 68
[Magic Workshop – Seoul Branch]
“Please come again~”
Kim Sung-won and Choi Min-sik quickly left the counter, ignoring the employee’s business smile, and flagged down a taxi.
“To Arena Academy!”
“Yes~”
As the taxi started to drive, Kim Sung-won wiped the sweat that had formed on his broad forehead with his sleeve.
After receiving a call from the academy, the two had turned the boat around and arrived on land, but since it would take too long to drive back to Seoul, they had no choice but to use the expensive teleport portal to get there.
“Haa, when will we go get the car?”
Kim Sung-won’s car had broken down, so the two had taken Choi Min-sik’s car to the beach. Now, Choi Min-sik’s car was left alone on the beach after they had returned via the portal.
“Is the car a problem?”
“It’s not that……”
Although they had come up with a solution to the problem while on the boat, since there were many students using the training room, there was no way to avoid some backlash.
“Anyway, these rich kids are even more troublesome. They must have learned it from their parents above.”
“It’s a headache, so let’s just be quiet until we arrive.”
“Eung.”
Kim Sung-won closed his mouth, and thanks to that, Choi Min-sik was able to arrive at the academy in peace.
After quickly paying with Kim Sung-won’s card, the two ran towards the academy building, forgetting about their own attire.
Fortunately, no students recognized them thanks to the hats they had pulled low over their heads.
In an instant, they arrived at the main building and took the elevator to the second floor. Then, they opened the door to the administrative office.
-……?
-What is it?
The eyes of the faculty members who were on duty turned towards them. Then, the staff member from the academic affairs department who had called Choi Min-sik earlier recognized his boss and stood up.
“Section Chief.”
“Oh, you’re here.”
Choi Min-sik opened his mouth, and the rest of the faculty members, who had remembered his voice from the previous call, nodded and averted their eyes. They already knew what the matter was about.
“Where are the kids?”
“There were too many of them, so we sent all but the main perpetrators back, and they’re sitting over there.”
“Okay. Good job. Is there anything else I should know?”
“Hmm… I think it would be better to talk inside.”
“Oh, okay. I’m sorry, everyone.”
As Choi Min-sik apologized, the faculty members said,
-It’s not your fault.
-It’s the deputy headmaster who’s working on the weekend that’s suffering.
-Wow, this year’s freshmen are starting off with a bang.
They laughed, not out of courtesy, but sincerely. It was a moment that showed how highly Choi Min-sik was regarded by the faculty members.
“Were you fishing?”
“Yes. This guy kept asking me to go with him.”
“He only caught one and was proud of it.”
“Hmm. Let’s go.”
Kim Sung-won and Choi Min-sik followed the academic affairs staff member and opened the door with a plaque that read ‘Director’.
The students, who were sitting on opposite sides as if they were divided into groups, looked at the three men. Kim Sung-won and Choi Min-sik stood in front of the table between the two groups.
A girl with white hair and sharp eyes.
This was Baek Hana, the girl Kim Sung-won had told him about.
‘Even the kids on her side have distinctive features.’
Pink hair, beige hair, and dark black hair, contrasting with Baek Hana’s.
Choi Min-sik finished identifying the two sides and spoke to the larger group.
“I don’t think any of you want your names to be brought up at the disciplinary committee.”
Kang Seok-ho, as well as Na Joo-hee, who had a dark shadow on her face, and the other children of the 10th Guild, nodded.
“We also don’t want our names to be known externally at the beginning of the semester, so if you donate the cost of rebuilding and restoring the damaged facilities, as well as items that are not embarrassing to be put up as prizes at the summer festival, we will end this incident with just a penalty without any discipline.”
Choi Min-sik continued, looking a little surprised at the students who were looking at him.
“If you wish, we can give you time to contact your guardians.”
“……No.”
Kang Seok-ho stood up, holding Na Joo-hee’s hand.
“Thank you for your consideration.”
Kang Seok-ho bowed slightly to Choi Min-sik. Then, he raised his head and said,
“The cost of rebuilding is something we should obviously compensate for, so please send us the bill, and we will try to pay the full amount as soon as possible.”
As he spoke, Kang Seok-ho glanced at Baek Hana, who was sitting on the opposite side. He didn’t know why Baek Hana had raised her hand along with Na Joo-hee, but from what he had seen, this incident was solely Na Joo-hee’s fault.
“We will prepare prizes that are not embarrassing for the festival. Do you have any objections?”
“Well……”
“We will bear the cost of the prizes, but the items will be provided by Iron knight and Red Flame.”
“That’s what I intended.”
As the two groups, who were in a competitive relationship, nodded, Kang Seok-ho bowed slightly to Choi Min-sik again.
“Thank you for your consideration. We will try to be more careful.”
“Hmm. Okay, then please stand up.”
Thinking that the matter had been resolved more easily than he had expected, Choi Min-sik sighed inwardly and was about to leave the room. However, for some reason, the students did not stand up, and even Kang Seok-ho, who had stood up to greet him, sat down again.
“Sir, there’s something else.”
-……?
The staff member who had been standing behind them came forward and whispered in Choi Min-sik’s ear.
-There’s something I couldn’t tell you earlier.
-Oh. So, why are they sitting there?
-That’s what I wanted to tell you……
As the staff member spoke, Choi Min-sik and Kim Sung-won, who was eavesdropping next to him, frowned.
Even though the incident in the training room had been resolved, the students were still sitting there.
“May I have a moment?”
Choi Min-sik and Kim Sung-won’s gazes turned towards the source of the voice.
A novice girl in a white robe with a coin emblem on her chest.
“There’s someone I want to be punished.”
**
The beautiful sunset light that seeped in through the window.
-Piyah~ Woong….
The fairy, who had been curled up on Baek Woo-jin’s chest, yawned cutely and covered her small face with her hands again, letting out soft breathing sounds.
Claire, who had been watching from the slightly open door, smiled and turned away.
‘He said he would wake up around evening.’
It was Friday. It had happened the evening before.
Baek Woo-jin, who had gone out for a short while, returned home in the evening with a pale face.
When Claire saw him, her heart sank. She had seen him spit up blood from time to time, so she couldn’t help but be shocked.
She quickly ran to him and supported him. Baek Woo-jin handed her the artifact he had been wearing at his waist and said,
-I’ll wake up by tomorrow evening at the latest. And don’t let that little one touch this.
Without telling her what had happened outside or whether he was really okay, Baek Woo-jin went into the bedroom and closed his eyes.
Fortunately, there were no signs of a fever, and his complexion returned to normal by morning. After that, she spent her time feeding and playing with the fairy who had woken up.
She had heard from Maria that Baek Hana wouldn’t be coming over the weekend, so she didn’t prepare any special meals and just had cereal for herself, which was a rare treat.
‘I took a lot of pictures……’
Even though he was lying down in a straight posture like someone who was awake, and he still had his glasses on, she was still happy. It was just nice to have another memory.
Claire decided to make a simple stew for dinner, just in case.
-Woo-woong.
The smartwatch on her wrist vibrated softly.
When she turned her wrist to check, the name ‘Maria’ appeared.
Claire left the study and took the call from Maria.
“What’s the matter?”
A voice that was indifferent, unlike when she spoke to Baek Woo-jin and Baek Hana, filled the hallway.
-Well, there’s a problem……
-Umm… it’s like this……
Maria slowly explained the situation to Claire.
A novice priestess of the Goddess of Luck had made a move on Edyn, and Baek Woo-jin’s name had been brought up during the process, infuriating Baek Hana.
Then, Na Joo-hee, who had stood in her way, had lost, and Na Joo-hee, driven by shame, had gone berserk and destroyed the training room.
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, as everyone’s magical power had been depleted. However, because of this, Baek Hana had been able to mercilessly beat the novice priestess.
Thankfully, Maria and Edyn had used their divine power to heal the novice, but there were too many witnesses.
What’s more, the novice herself was not going to let it go.
She had brought in the children of the 10th Guild as witnesses and had even called in the branch manager of Arena Academy, Claire’s superior, to make a big deal out of it.
-……So, I think Professor Baek should come, or at least an executor…… since there’s no legal guardian on paper……
Until last year, Baek Woo-jin had been her legal guardian, but when Baek Hana became an adult, Baek Woo-jin had erased all traces of himself through Claire.
-And not only Hana, but Edyn as well……
“Where is it?”
A subtle anger mixed with the indifferent voice.
The sound of Maria swallowing her saliva came faintly through the smartwatch.
-In the administrative office on the second floor of the main building……
“Wait.”
Before Maria could finish her sentence, Claire ended the call and walked quietly down the dark hallway.
