I Dominate the Entertainment Industry Through Top-Tier Star-Making

Chapter 6 - Is the News True?

“My life should finally be in my own hands, right?”

After accepting the task, Dailin quietly left the office. It wasn’t until she had walked a few meters, the sound of her high heels echoing, that she let out a subtle sigh of relief. The reason was simple: the aura of General Yu was too overwhelming. In front of him, she was always anxious, afraid she might say something wrong.

After a busy half-day, Dailin finally had time to take a break in the tea room. Just as she finished brewing her coffee, the door swung open, and another person entered.

“Xiaodai! You’re here!” a girl wearing glasses exclaimed, pleasantly surprised.

“Hey, Xiaoxiong, are you also taking a break from work?” Dailin instinctively relaxed upon seeing her.

They were university roommates, and although they had different majors, they both aimed to join Yu Corporation. After years of hard work, one became the first secretary beside General Yu, while the other rose to the position of legal supervisor in the legal department, with a promising future as the next chief legal officer.

“I’m not as busy as you,” Xiong Zhuxuan teased.

Dailin sighed. “Your department is much better, with less intrigue. I’m just worried that if I mess up, I’ll be demoted. Anyway, since you’re here, I have something to tell you.”

“Really?” Xiong Zhuxuan saw her serious expression and walked to the door, checking for anyone else before carefully closing it.

“Go ahead.”

“Remember when you asked me about that? The news is confirmed: General Yu plans to establish an entertainment company and will be selecting people from our company to form the foundation. If you want to compete for a position, you need to seize the opportunity.”

Xiong Zhuxuan’s eyes lit up. “Is that true?!”

She quickly asked, “Are you sure it’s okay for you to share this information with me?”

Dailin shook her head, smiling as she patted her shoulder. “It’s fine. This news will eventually spread throughout the company; it’s just a matter of time. Besides, others will likely have their own sources of information, so I’m not necessarily the first to know. You can rest assured about that.”

Seeing Xiong Zhuxuan lost in thought, Dailin’s tone turned serious. “But you need to think carefully: whatever decision you make, you must be prepared to bear the consequences.”

“Okay,” Xiong Zhuxuan nodded earnestly. “I’ll weigh the risks and opportunities.”

“I believe in you.” Dailin took a few sips of coffee, glanced at the time, and hurriedly said, “My break is over; I need to get back to work.”

Without waiting for Xiong Zhuxuan’s response, she quickly left the room.

Xiong Zhuxuan remained in the tea room, filled with excitement but also a hint of anxiety. After a moment, she composed herself and returned to her office. She opened a document to write something but ended up typing a string of meaningless words.

Just then, a colleague moved a chair beside her and leaned in to ask, “Sister Xiong, are you planning to join General Yu’s new company?”

Xiong Zhuxuan was taken aback and lowered her voice, replying, “How did you know about this?”

“It’s not a secret. Our legal department is always sensitive to changes in company policies. Besides, General Yu’s attitude clearly shows he doesn’t intend to hide it; otherwise, we wouldn’t have found out.”

Xiong Zhuxuan nodded, agreeing that made sense.

“I think General Yu might be intentionally leaking information to prepare everyone for the changes ahead. But are you really considering leaving the stability of the headquarters for an uncertain new entertainment company?”

Her colleague’s frankness reflected genuine concern. After all, having a capable and kind boss like Xiong Zhuxuan in the legal department was rare.

“Sister Xiong, we’re at the headquarters; others would envy us. As long as Yu Corporation exists, the headquarters’ status will remain unshaken. Don’t forget, there are many people eyeing your position.”

Xiong Zhuxuan fell silent, fully aware of this truth. But was she truly happy in her current job? Did it bring her joy and fulfillment?

Even after returning home from work, she appeared deep in thought. Once in her room, she closed the door and stared at the posters covering her walls. Although they seemed somewhat dated, they held all her youthful memories.

Working at Yu Corporation was a dream for her family; her parents had proudly boasted, “Our daughter works at the headquarters and has achieved this and that.” Such statements always garnered admiration, leaving her parents feeling triumphant.

Yet, Xiong Zhuxuan did not find joy in this; all her happiness was sealed away with those posters. Once upon a time, she was a devoted fan, and seeing her idols shine on stage brought her pure happiness. But for her parents and future, she buried that passion, focusing on her studies, hoping one day to afford her dreams.

However, a few years ago, when her idol chose to leave the stage for a mundane life, she lost all motivation to follow her dreams. Now, with General Yu planning to develop the entertainment sector, the extinguished flame within her reignited, burning fiercely.

She thought to herself, if she missed this opportunity… she would surely regret it for the rest of her life.

What’s wrong with being impulsive this once?

It’s time for me to take control of my life!

Touching the yellowed posters on her wall, she finally made up her mind, no matter what others said, she would not change her decision.
