Chapter 145.2

145.2. You Need To Pick The Right Time For Surprises, Isn’t It?

The ones who appeared were Kyle, who had officially become a noble, and his escorts Persia and Alphard. Along with them was Leifan. Up until now, Alphard often accompanied Kyle as his escort. But since he became the leader of the new Holy Knights, recently, one of his subordinate knights had been guarding Kyle instead. However, today, Alphard had come along.

“Everyone, I apologize for summoning you. I’m glad you could come.”

Everyone who had gathered widened their eyes and turned to face me. Then Kyle suddenly realized something.

“Wait, did nii-sama not tell you anything?”

“No, Kyle-sama. We were only told we’d be on school security.”

“Um, I was just told it was an important task…”

“Ah…”

Kyle understood the situation and gave a small nod.

“Nii-sama, considering this involves everyone’s future, don’t you think a surprise is a bit much?”

“Craft-kun…”

Kyle gave a wry smile, and Leifan looked at me like I was some sort of disappointment. Wait, isn’t this the perfect moment for a surprise?

“Then, let me explain. Today, all of you have been called here to recognize your great contributions to Golden Dawn… and the Elixir territory. We plan to evaluate your crest compatibility, and if desired, offer an emblem rewrite.”

“””What!?”””

“I knew it…”

While everyone else was shocked, only Eva had a knowing expression. Impressive.

“In addition, Raidoc and his team will receive a separate reward, but we’ll save that for after the ceremony.”

As Kyle smiled and announced this, Raidoc looked slightly confused.

“Kyle-sama, we’ve already received more than enough reward.”

“Your achievements are far beyond what a guild payment covers. You all willingly followed us when Golden Dawn relocated. From handling the stampede, to reclaiming the wetlands, to investigating resources, and taking the lead in monster extermination. Not to mention training new adventurers. The list goes on and on. I’ve already given my brother a manor, but I haven’t given you all anything yet.”

Hearing Kyle’s words, Raidoc straightened his expression.

“…Understood. We’ll graciously accept the reward.”

“Thank you.”

Yeah, yeah. I don’t think Raidoc is going to find a better match than his swordsman crest, but you never know. When Kyle asked me what reward would be fitting for them, I suggested the crest check and one other thing.

“Craft-kun! Can you go check if Generis has returned?”

“Got it.”

I moved to the next room, where not only Generis but also Jabil-sensei were waiting.

“Oh? Professor, are you taking the crest compatibility test too?”

“It’s Craft. No, I’m just helping out. I’m curious to see if there’s an even more suitable crest for such an experienced adventurer as the blue-haired one.”

“Got it. Yeah, that would be interesting.”

“Indeed.”

“Generis, are you ready?”

“Yes, I’ve rested enough.”

“Alright, I’ll call them over.”

When I returned to the classroom, Maina, Alfonso, Feidar, and even Kendal and the others were waiting, eager to watch.

“What about the festival?”

“They’re going to do the same thing as earlier, right? I figured it wouldn’t take too long. We can enjoy the festival all day tomorrow, but I really want to see what happens with my brother’s crest!”

Ed answered enthusiastically. I see. No reason to refuse, then.

“Is everyone okay with this?”

Since some nobles prefer to keep their crests private, I asked just in case, but everyone agreed it was fine.

“Alright, let’s go.”

We moved to the other room and lined up. The Crest Official checked the list.

“First up, Modah. Step forward.”

“…Got it.”

Still as taciturn as ever! While I didn’t worry too much about Raidoc’s group, I prayed that somehow Modah and Bardak would be granted a crest.
