Chapter 44: Spider-Man Is Worth At Least $2 Billion
Cheating?
If Su Ye heard such accusations, he'd only scoff.
How could a superhero's own abilities be considered cheating?
You think I'm just Spider-Man? No, I'm Andy Bogard. Take my Shadow Slicer and Kuuhadan!
Think I'm only Andy Bogard? Nope, I've also got Terry Bogard's moves. Here, have an Energy Wave and Burn Knuckle!
Think you've figured out all my powers? No way. Once I play another Girlfriend Card, I'll show up with a whole new set of tricks.
As long as I can switch girlfriends fast enough, you'll never uncover all my secrets!
Wait, not switch—why choose when you can have them all? That's how adults do it!
Facing Su Ye's ground-slam energy wave, Bullseye demonstrated remarkable adaptability. While airborne, he somehow pulled out a short staff and used it to vault off the ground, narrowly dodging the energy blast.
Dodging the energy wave was his limit. When Su Ye leapt again, feet blazing with Andy's ultimate move, Super Crack Shot, Bullseye could only close his eyes in resignation.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
After a series of intense hits, Bullseye crashed to the ground like a dead pig, completely unconscious.
Spider-Man's strength, combined with Andy's ultimate move, was enough to instantly incapacitate even a powerful supervillain like Bullseye.
Su Ye stood over him, sighing helplessly.
"I didn't even go all out, and you're already down? Trash!"
Thud! Thud!
Two more kicks shattered Bullseye's shoulders into dust. Both arms rendered useless, his once-perfect accuracy was now history.
When dealing with villains like this, Su Ye never hesitated. Taking them down decisively was his principle.
After finishing off Bullseye, Su Ye turned to Yoshioka behind him.
"You're a ninja?"
Yoshioka nodded blankly, gripping his katana, unsure whether to attack, flee, or fall to his knees and beg for mercy.
Given the strength Spider-Man had just displayed, Yoshioka knew attacking was hopeless, and fleeing would only hasten his death. That left him with only one option.
"I surre—"
Click.
A small pumpkin bomb landed right in front of him, exactly where he was about to kneel.
"I surrender! Don't kill me!"
Yoshioka tried to back away, but a glob of webbing shot out, sticking his foot to the pumpkin bomb.
"No!"
Boom!
The bomb exploded, reducing Yoshioka to ashes.
"Pleasure working with you, Green Goblin!"
Su Ye waved at Harry, then backflipped off the rooftop, disappearing into the night.
"Spider-Man! Open fire! Open fire!"
Rat-tat-tat!
The Mafia's frantic shouts and gunfire echoed from below, but the air quickly filled with screams of pain.
"Aah!"
"Spare me!"
"No!"
Moments later, the chaos quieted. Before Harry could even peek over the rooftop edge, Su Ye leapt back up.
"Alright, the guys downstairs are cleaned up. This one's the only one left. Got any questions for him?"
Harry glanced at Bullseye, barely alive, his body seemingly shattered, then turned to Su Ye.
"Are you always this ruthless, Spider-Man? No, perhaps I should call you... Su Ye!"
As soon as Su Ye's name was mentioned, the scene fell silent.
Su Ye squatted on the edge of the rooftop wall, shrugging helplessly. "I'm wearing a mask. How did you figure out it's me?"
Harry removed his helmet, a smile finally breaking through his previously tense expression.
"You know, your English is pretty fluent, but there's still a slight accent. I noticed it back when we were in China. Over the years, you've improved a lot, but if you listen carefully, it's still there."
"Also, your tone and the way you walk—I know them too well. Even if you can fool Gwen, you can't fool me. I'm the one who knows you best!"
Su Ye raised a finger to his ear.
"Gwen's listening in. She asked me to say hi and to remind you she knows me better than you do, including my... length... cough, cough!"
Su Ye coughed and spoke into his earpiece. "C'mon, Gwen, even if you're proving a point, no need to spill everything. 'Length'? Why not throw in how often you beg for mercy while you're at it?"
Harry suddenly sighed.
"Now I get it. I offered you a $5 million salary, and you still wouldn't take it. As Spider-Man, that doesn't match your worth. Honestly, even $50 million might not be enough."
You're a Spider-Man who's basically running cheats. Just being Spider-Man alone is worth $50 million. Add in those energy blasts and flying kicks? I wouldn't feel right offering less than $100 million.
Harry added silently to himself.
Su Ye raised an eyebrow slightly. If you'd started with $50 million, maybe I would've said yes!
"I told you, it's not about the money. You and Oscorp are facing a dual crisis. I can't help much, and taking your salary wouldn't sit right with me."
"But you still came to save me! If you hadn't shown up, I might've died here tonight!" Harry quickly responded.
How much is Spider-Man's life-saving intervention worth?
Harry wasn't sure about others, but for him, the entire value of Oscorp was tied to his survival.
With Oscorp's market value exceeding $200 billion, even a slight fluctuation in stock price would mean billions in change.
If the Green Goblin died here, Oscorp's stock could plummet, potentially halving its market value.
Just based on that, Oscorp giving Su Ye $1 billion as thanks wouldn't be excessive.
Of course, market value isn't the same as liquid assets, and it wouldn't be easy for Oscorp to immediately produce $1 billion in cash.
Still, not thanking Su Ye properly was out of the question.
After thinking for a while, Harry finally came up with a compromise.
"Su Ye, why don't you join Oscorp with me? As Spider-Man, you could invest. I bet the board would be too embarrassed to offer less than 1% of the company's shares!"
One percent would be worth $2 billion, an astronomical leap for a Chinese exchange student like Su Ye.
If Spider-Man joined Oscorp, the stock price would surely soar, making that $2 billion just the beginning.
Faced with such immense wealth, even Su Ye couldn't help but feel tempted.
