Chapter 13: CH 13: a "fight" against eris.
"Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, trying to fight a 9-year-old almost 10 isn't the most mature thing I could have done.
But understand me, I tried to be polite, to be patient, but this little demon was getting on my nerves, talking to me like I was just another servant in her house.
She completely ruined my mood, the work I did to get on Sauron's good side wasn't easy, yes, this time unlike the anime canon, Sauron was present.
I think something like that happened in the manga...
Fortunately, I learned etiquette from Lilia since she had worked as a servant and guard for the princess, so she taught me well.
Then there was Philip, the guy knows how to get on someone's nerves too, that sly fox act is annoying.
But everything is fine, although he told me he didn't expect much from me, and well, I don't blame him, I wouldn't expect anything from an 8-year-old either.
So I shrugged mentally as I told him I wouldn't disappoint him...
So after introducing myself to them both, a butler took me to meet the beast in a child's body.
The girl as soon as she opened the door tried to hit me, it was pretty fast for a girl, although even without my body being enhanced I could have dodged it.
The girl then got even more annoyed by that and started yelling at me with a lot of arrogance and other things.
And that's how we ended up here, in the courtyard where Rudeus and Eris were being trained by Ghislaine.
Fortunately, Philip didn't kick me out of the house after hearing that I was going to have a duel with his daughter, rather he said something like...
"Well, I read in Paul's letter that you were almost an intermediate-ranked swordsman. Maybe if you show Eris your strength then she'll take you more seriously." - that's what he said.
I really couldn't help but look at the father's disappointment, his daughter doesn't listen because her "dominant" grandfather spoils her a lot and he, because he can't answer his father, can't educate Eris while the mother, despite being hotter than Eris in the future, is a useless woman who only served to give heirs...
Well, those are my prejudices floating with this society.
And well continuing, now I'm wearing a leather breastplate and a wooden sword, Eris is wearing equipment the same as mine.
Ghislaine is refereeing and Philip and some butlers are watching.
'I guess I'm going to try not to hurt her too much' - I thought, it would be very bad for my record if I said, uses excessive violence.
"Don't think I'm going to be easy on you just because you're younger than me, understand!!" - Eris said abruptly as she took up her fighting stance.
"Yes, yes, I on the other hand will" - I sighed nodding as I said that and took up my combat stance.
"Grrr!" - She growled...
"Then..." - Ghislaine was about to give the starting signal, but Eris had already run towards me.
I said nothing as I prepared to receive her.
"Aahhhh!!" - Eris screamed as she raised her sword and tried to make a downward cut.
I then moved, with my sword I hit her hands upwards with enough force to make her drop her sword and then I moved to hit her behind the knees causing her to fall.
"I won..." I said as I pointed my sword at her, of course this is just to show that I had won, but I already knew that Eris wasn't going to give up that easily.
"Grrr!! Aahh" - Eris got up and spun around quickly while raising her right fist, but her "speed" was easily caught by my eyes, so I let her get up and get close enough to grab her wrist and throw her back to the ground this time holding her right arm behind her back while putting my knee on her back as well, just to pretend that I'm trying to keep her there, because it would be weird for an eight-year-old to be able to keep a wild girl like Eris on the ground with just one hand.
"I won again..." I said without much emotion, it's not like I felt very proud of putting a girl like Eris in her place... No, it doesn't.
"Okay, maybe a little, because I was really annoyed by how she acted towards Rudeus when I read the novel, even as an adult she kept some bad habits.
I looked at Ghislaine, this time with the intention of really ending the fight.
"Winner, Kiel!" - She announced the winner while I held Eris on the ground, I have to say that all this time she didn't stop fighting to get me to let go, but well, I hope she learns not to mess with someone stronger...
Who am I kidding, I'm sure as soon as I let go, she'll attack me again.
"Aahhhh!!"
"Sigh... This day is going to be long" - I muttered as I avoided Eris' attack.
[Some time later]
After a while, Ghislaine finally decided to intervene, after seeing how I wasn't even taking Eris seriously and because I decided I was just going to dodge her attacks as if I had Ultra Instinct activated.
Then he took Eris with him, who was not very happy, to say the least, she was kicking and screaming things like "this won't stay like this" or "I'll come back and have my!!...".
I think I almost heard a "I'll have my revenge!"
But it was just my hallucinations.
For my part, I told her I was waiting for her tomorrow to study, of course I didn't expect much, but I'm sure she'll look for me for her rematch and there I'll take the opportunity to coax her into deciding to study.
"Wow, Paul said you were strong, but I didn't think that much... Although I don't know if that worked very well" - Philip said with his perpetual sly fox face.
"No, it did, but I still need a little more effort on my part, but I'm sure she'll decide to take my tutoring on her own." - I shook my head, Eris respects the strong, she may still be in denial, but it's undeniable that I'm stronger than her, so after she accepts it and sees how important it is to study, I'm sure she'll decide to learn on her own.
After all, that's how it happened in the original, although somehow Rudeus had it easier since he managed to prove his strength by saving the bandits, it's just that his weak mentality made it more difficult.
"Well, I think I owe you an apology and a thank you then." - Philip said suddenly making me look at him confused.
"Sorry for thinking you were just a kid who pretended to be smart, now I can really see that Eris can learn from you, and thanks for not being too hard on my Eris" - he said with a slight bow, but then he raised his head and sharpened his gaze as he said. - "Fortunately you decided to just show your strength that way, because if it had been otherwise... Maybe I would have had to intervene"
I looked at him, but decided to ignore his last words and then said. - "I appreciate that your opinion of me has changed, I'm sure I won't disappoint you"
After that everyone went their separate ways, I was guided by an old butler to what will be my room from now on and Philip I have no idea what he went to do.
[The next day]
"So... Ghislaine, are you ready to start on this path of learning?" - I asked Ghislaine who was sitting in front of me.
Eris hasn't arrived yet, well I didn't expect her at this time either since it's still very early so I'll start teaching Ghislaine a little while Eris arrives with any reason to fight me again.
"Mm" - Ghislaine, of course very expressive, simply nodded with a confused look on her face.
'So much excitement...' I thought, but then I shook my head and mentally decided to get serious now.
"Alright then..." - And just as I'm about to start explaining to Ghislaine the door burst open.
Of course it was none other than Eris who opened the door forcefully.
"You!! Fight me again" - Eris demanded pointing at me.
"First of all, my name is Kiel and secondly, I think you've forgotten something." - I replied calmly as I looked at this tiny fierce girl a few meters from me.
"I think you lost yesterday's fight where you agreed to take my tutoring if you lost." - I told her reminding her of her big losses yesterday making her snort.
"It doesn't matter, fight me now, this time it won't be like yesterday" - She assured, but I ignored her and then asked calmly. - "So let me see, I understand that you want to become an adventurer, right?"
"And what about it!?" - she looked at me confused.
- "If you want to become an adventurer then you should worry about taking my tutoring" - I said, but before he could answer I continued. - "Of course that's if you want to become a good adventurer, or what, did you think that just your sword was enough to become an adventurer?"
I saw her frown, then I gestured to Ghislaine who was looking at me, well I don't blame her I basically called her an idiot for thinking she could sustain herself as an adventurer without knowing how to read and the basics of mathematics.
But in the end she sighed and told her story making Eris look at her with extreme interest and finally ended with her words that almost finished hooking Eris.
"Of course, if that doesn't convince you, I'm sure if you ask Ghislaine for permission to take you to the adventurer's guild you'll realize for yourself how important it is to take the tutoring." - I finally shrugged as I finished, now it's up to Eris to decide whether to take the easy way or the hard way.
And needless to say, that's how I got my third student... More annoying than I thought.
'The things I do to get out of that town...' - I thought with a mental sigh.
====≠====≠====
I was supposed to have written and published this long ago.
But inspiration struck me in a different way, instead of giving me inspiration to make the chapter, I ended up thinking of another fanfic and writing a little about what it would be and even writing chapter 1 until almost finishing it.
The FF would be something like the protagonist dies and they give him a chance to be sent to another world like the character in his game, I took a lot of inspiration from Overlord while I was doing it, although the character would not be a magician but a martial artist with several other jobs that complement him I think.
I even made the skills, job classes and used an AI to create the descriptions for that.
Needless to say, it turned out so good, that I really would have liked to be able to write it and publish it.
Unfortunately I started college and time is what I'm going to lack.
Anyway, I hope you liked the chapter.
