I Was Reincarnated Into A World Where I Was The Side Character

Chapter 33: We Share Our Pain

Days passed as Uguisu-san and I spent our time together as a couple. Before we knew it, she was already in her third year. We often found solace in the quiet corners of the library, immersed in our own worlds but together. It was during one of these serene afternoons that she suddenly collapsed onto the floor.

"Uguisu-san!" I called out, rushing to her side to support her.

"I'm okay, Himeya... I just feel a little tired," she said, her voice soft as she grasped my hand. "Help me to the sofa..."

This moment marked a significant turning point in her life—and mine.

Without hesitation, I scooped her up in a princess carry.

"H-Himeya?!" she exclaimed, her cheeks flushing in surprise.

"You've always wanted to try this, right?" I teased gently.

"Ah..." She didn't respond with words, only nodding shyly.

I carried her over to the sofa and gently set her down, taking a seat beside her.

"What's wrong, Uguisu-san?" I asked, concern evident in my voice.

"It's nothing serious, I just feel a bit tired," she replied, offering a faint smile.

I could sense that this was more than just a simple moment of fatigue. It felt like a pivotal moment in our lives, one that would shape our future together. I couldn't make any decisions alone.

"But if anything happens, promise you'll tell me, okay?"

She nodded, and I returned her gesture with a reassuring smile.

The cozy atmosphere of the library began to lull me into a state of drowsiness. The warm lighting, the quiet rustling of pages, and the presence of Uguisu-san created an almost dreamlike serenity. I pulled out my phone and continued working on my latest story. Uguisu-san, watching me intently, leaned her head on my shoulder.

"Uguisu...?" I glanced at her.

"Keep writing. I want to watch you as you work," she whispered.

I smiled and returned to my writing. The story I was crafting was about a girl whose beauty was as radiant as the moon and a boy, the protagonist, who embodied the warmth of the sun. Despite their differences, fate brought them together, and they reunited against all odds.

As I finished my story, I looked down at Uguisu-san. She had fallen asleep, her expression peaceful and serene. Watching her like this filled me with both warmth and unease. I couldn't help but think about the events that unfolded in the manga—her fate always lingering in the back of my mind.

Time passed, and before I knew it, it was already 3 PM. Uguisu-san stirred and slowly opened her eyes.

"Good afternoon, Uguisu-senpai," I greeted her softly.

"...Good afternoon, Himeya-kun," she replied, her voice tinged with nostalgia. "Hearing you call me 'senpai' brings back memories."

"It's been six months since we started dating, hasn't it?" I mused.

"Yeah... It's hard to believe it's been that long already," she said, her eyes reflecting the passage of time.

"Come on, let's head home," I suggested.

"Eh... already?" she pouted playfully.

"Yep, let's go." I stood up from the sofa and extended my hand to her. She accepted it, and we walked together to the parking lot.

I rode my bike with Uguisu-san sitting behind me, her arms wrapped securely around my waist. We drove through the familiar streets, the cool breeze ruffling our hair. As we approached her house, she spoke up.

"Do you want to come in? My mother would love to meet you," she offered.

"Maybe another time," I replied with a chuckle. "I don't want to leave my older sister waiting and hungry."

"Ah, right... Maybe you can invite Haruka-san next time," she suggested.

"Sure, I'll do that," I agreed. "Well, see you tomorrow?"

Before I could finish my farewell, Uguisu-san stepped closer and kissed me gently on the lips. Her scent was sweet, her lips soft and warm—a memory I cherished deeply.

"See you tomorrow, Himeya-kun," she whispered, her eyes sparkling.

Sunday

The next day, as promised, I visited Uguisu-san again. This time, I decided to bring along a small gift—a novel I thought she might enjoy. When I arrived at her house, her mother greeted me warmly, her eyes shining with approval.

"Himeya-kun, it's so good to finally meet you," she said with a kind smile.

"Thank you for having me," I replied, bowing politely.

Uguisu-san appeared moments later, her face lighting up when she saw me. "Himeya! You didn't have to bring anything," she said, accepting the book with a delighted grin.

"I thought you'd like it," I said, scratching the back of my head sheepishly.

We spent the afternoon in her cozy room, discussing the storylines and characters in the novel. It was moments like these that made me realize how deeply I cared for her.

As evening approached, we decided to take a walk in the nearby park. The sun was setting, casting a golden hue over the landscape. We strolled hand in hand, the silence between us comfortable and filled with unspoken understanding.

"Himeya, do you ever think about the future?" Uguisu-san asked, her voice thoughtful.

"All the time," I admitted. "Especially when I think about you."

She blushed, her eyes reflecting the soft glow of the setting sun. "I think about it too. About us."

We found a bench overlooking the park's serene pond and sat down. The tranquil scene mirrored the peace I felt being by her side.

"Whatever happens," I said, breaking the silence, "we'll face it together."

She leaned her head on my shoulder again, her hand finding mine.

As the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, we made our way back to her house. Parting was always the hardest, but the thought of seeing her again the next day kept me going.

"Goodnight, Himeya-kun," she said softly, standing at her doorstep.

"Goodnight, Uguisu-san," I replied, squeezing her hand one last time before turning to leave.

As I drove back, the warmth of her touch lingered, a reminder of the bond we shared. No matter what the future held, I knew one thing for certain, Uguisu-san was my light in the darkness, and I was hers.
