I, Who Have Been Tasked With Taking Care of the Beautiful Young Lady of the Class, Am Troubled by the Heavy Affection Directed Towards Me

Chapter 5 - Live-in Option

“Make her heart flutter…? Um, what are you talking about?”

“Please make her heart flutter.”

…It seems questions and objections won’t be accepted. But if it’s something necessary for my future life, then I have no choice but to do it.

“Excuse me, Shiratori-san, there’s a thread on your shoulder… Maybe it got stuck during sewing class?”

I momentarily forgot about the goal of making her heart flutter and simply removed the thread that’s stuck on Shiratori-san’s shoulder.

“Um… Is there a trash bin or something? I want to throw away this thread.”

“Here, I’ll take it… Also, you passed.”

The attendant took the thread from me and put it in an automatic trash bin that opened on its own… Cool, an automatic trash bin. It’s real.

…But more importantly.

“You said I passed?”

“Yes, I said if you make the young lady’s heart flutter, you pass… That was our agreement.”

“…Huh?”

To confirm the authenticity of those words, I looked at Shiratori-san.

I don’t quite understand, but just by lightly touching her shoulder to remove a thread, she….

“Kimir-kun…! You, you touched my shoulder…! I am not dreaming, am I…? Finally, this day has come! It took so long…! Ahhh…!”

Her voice was too quiet, almost mumbling. I couldn’t catch what she said but she seemed to be fluttering, judging from her expressions and movements. It must have worked.

“Wait… Did your heart really flutter?”

“I feel like I’ve become a princess in a fairy tale.”

“Uh, I see… That’s good, then.”

There’s still a question lingering about whether she was genuinely happy just because I removed a thread, but a few minutes later, we finally entered the premises of Shiratori-san’s house.

“The driveway ends here, so we’ll walk from here to the house.”

“Understood.”

Shiratori-san, the attendant, and I get out of the limousine, and the attendant walked ahead, guiding us.

“Is this entire garden part of the property?”

“Yes, it’s maintained by a few gardeners.”

Gardeners… people who take care of the flowers and such in the garden, right?

To think they have such people… Shiratori-san really is from a different world than me.

“The house you see ahead is where the young lady resides.”

“Oh, that… Huh?!”

The house that comes into view reminded me of European architecture, with its exterior design, and above all, it’s incredibly huge, to the point where it’s questionable whether it’s even a house.

If someone told me it’s a museum, I might barely believe it due to its size.

“To put it simply, it’s called a mansion.”

“A mansion…”

I’m not familiar with the term, so I don’t really understand, but I do understand that it’s an expensive house.

“Starting tomorrow, it will also be Kimi-san’s home, so I will give you a proper tour later.”

“Oh, I see. Thank you for going through the trouble… Say what?!”

“What?” The attendant asked in a calm tone.

“W-What did you just say?”

“If I didn’t mishear, you said that starting from today, I will be living here?”

“That is correct. It was also written in the flyer, so I assumed you were already aware of that matter.”

“The flyer…”

If I remember correctly, it said…

“Hourly wage of 2,000 yen, live-in option available, three meals a day, private room. Suitable for high school students and above. It’s an environment where you can ask questions without hesitation! Phone number: XXX-XXXX-XXXX.”

That’s right, wasn’t it?

If my memory serves me right, it was mentioned as an option for living in.

In other words, whether or not I choose to live in is entirely up to me.

“The flyer just mentioned the option for living in, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s mandatory, right?”

“Yes, I didn’t write any lies.”

“Then, I won’t bother living here. I mean, it’s not that easy to live under the same roof as the opposite sex, right?”

“Given that it’s a mansion, the house is spacious, so it won’t feel like living under the same roof, except for the young lady’s room… Also, if you don’t plan on living in, it will make mornings a bit busier for you. Is that acceptable?”

“Huh…?”

It’ll get busier every morning…?

What does that mean?

“This job starts with waking up the young lady around 7 a.m. If you’re not living in, you will have to wake up around 6 a.m., get ready, and come to this house on foot or by bicycle to wake her up. It’s quite a challenging task to do every morning.”

“What!? W-Wait a minute! Waking her up… Shiratori-san is not usually late, so isn’t it unnecessary to wake her up?”

“The young lady is very weak in the mornings, so I used to wake her up every morning… But when it comes to the young lady, she insists that she wants you, Kou-kun, to wake her up every morning. Even if she says such things, I can’t do that. So, I kept waking her up at the same time every morning without worrying about it. But when you do it for so long, hundreds of days or so, even if the other person is the young lady, anger eventually starts to build up. So…”

“P-Please calm down! I understand, I understand.”

Though I couldn’t really comprehend what she was saying due to her overwhelming enthusiasm, I should try to pacify her for now… I thought she was someone who doesn’t show much emotion, but it seems there are times when she does.

“…I’m sorry. I just wanted to convey how difficult it would be for you to come here from your own home every morning to wake up the young lady.”

“I see… Um, Shiratori-san.”

“What, Kimi-kun?”

I decided to ask Shiratori-san, who had been silent all this time, a simple question.

“You’re not good with mornings?”

“Well, that’s right… I seem to get tired when I dream at night, and when I wake up, I feel very feeble.”

“I see.”

Considering her background, she might have her own struggles and accumulate fatigue, making it difficult for her to wake up in the morning. I can understand that.

…But.

“Is it really okay for me to live in the same house as Shiratori-san…? We are of the opposite sex, there might be some problems that arise, you know?”

“If the young lady seeks affection and gets closer to you, please use the second drawer from the bottom near the bed. It should be helpful.” (T/N: FNAF vibes)

“She’s not a pet… and I’m not worried about that kind of thing… Anyway, for now, I would appreciate it if you could show me around.”

Before deciding what to do, I need to ask about the inside of the house and the specific details of the job.

“Understood.”

As we walked through the large garden, we arrived in front of Shiratori-san’s house, and the attendant opened the door.

“First, let me guide you to the young lady’s room…”

“Wait, from here on, I will be the one guiding Kimi-kun.”

“Young lady…?”

Originally, it was planned for the attendant to guide me through the house and explain the job, but Shiratori-san suddenly took on the role of a guide.

Why did Shiratori-san suddenly suggest that?

The attendant sighed in apparent exasperation, conceding to Shiratori-san’s request, and entered the house ahead of us.

…From here on, it’s just Shiratori-san and me.
