Chapter 7

Chapter 7

After school, as usual, Harrymel was studying in the library when someone suddenly sat down in the seat opposite hers.

“You’re studying hard again,” said the gentleman with a fake smile. Harrymel let out a small sigh.

‘We can’t talk in public places.’

‘It’s only the librarian at the counter and it’ll only be for a little while…’

Harrymel had already returned her gaze to her notebook. Seeing her stubborn attitude, Rojis pouted.

“Why don’t you hang out with the girls in your class sometime? It’s already the middle of our second year. If you keep this up, your only memory of this academy will be studying in the library.”

‘That’s what I want,’ Harrymel replied almost reflexively to Rojis’s casual remark.

Memories?

Who cares about memories? As long as I can graduate without any problems, that’s more than enough.

Harrymel silently continued solving her question.

Rojis was momentarily taken aback, but bounced back with a grin.

“Well then, can I add this to your library memories?” Leaning forward, he gently placed a small package on her notebook. Harrymel frowned and withdrew from it.

 “What’s this?”

 “Open it.”

“No, thank you.” She pushed the package back towards Rojis.

“It’s normal for a boyfriend to give gifts to his girlfriend.” Rojis pouted and placed the package back on the notebook.

“This relationship is a secret.” Harrymel pushed the package away again.

“It’s just a brooch. It’s affordable and popular among commoners.”

“It would look strange if I, someone so plain, were to wear something like that. What would I say if someone asked me where I got it?”

“You don’t have to say you got it from me.”

“I’m not confident enough to cover it up efficiently, so I can’t accept it.”

They continued to push the package back and forth.

In the end, they both had a hand on the package as they glared at each other across the table. But the package was so small that to the librarian, it looked as though they were holding hands and staring into each other’s eyes.

The taciturn librarian tucked away this youthful memory into their mental album.
