I'm in HxH, Survive for Five Years!

Chapter 23: 23

100 FOR 100 POWER STONE

After the surprising turn of events, Netero became quite intrigued and asked, "I'm curious, why do you question whether [Hundred Styles Guanyin] is Nen? Do you think it might not be?"

"Well, I do have some doubts," Ethan Wells replied. "From the information I've gathered about you, President, [Hundred Styles Guanyin] seems a bit unlike Nen, or at least it doesn't conform to the usual perception of Nen."

Most people wouldn't question such a move as anything other than Nen, but Ethan was different.

Coming from another world, he possessed insights and thought frameworks beyond those of this world.

First was his knowledge of Netero.

In the original story, it's stated that at 46, Netero felt he'd reached the limit of his physical and martial arts capabilities, and then began practicing strikes with gratitude, achieving speed beyond common sense.

Before that, it was unlikely that Netero wasn't a Nen user, or that he hadn't developed Nen.

In other words, the characteristics of [Hundred Styles Guanyin] seem more like those born from Netero's enlightenment through gratitude, rather than something developed from Nen.

Of course, it's possible that Netero had superior abilities and developed a rare second Nen.

The classification of [Hundred Styles Guanyin] is quite complex.

On the surface, this move appears to be Transmuter's telekinesis, yet his fighting style leans towards Enhancer.

In the battle between Netero and Meruem, the Ant King, it seems [Hundred Styles Guanyin] struggles to even dent the Ant King's defense, but in reality, its attacks are far from weak and are indeed very powerful.

Throughout the battle, the Ant King isn't defenseless. Each time he's hit by [Hundred Styles Guanyin], he resists and counters.

Yet the results are him being powerfully knocked back by [Hundred Styles Guanyin].

Such a powerful attack style is typically found in Enhancers.

There are also traces of Emitter, Conjurer, and Manipulator in [Hundred Styles Guanyin].

Every time Ethan reflected on [Hundred Styles Guanyin] after encountering Nen, he sensed the move's complexity.

It appears to transcend the constraints of the Nen categories, integrating all categories into one and achieving a high level in each.

Although Ethan is still far from mastering the power of [Hundred Styles Guanyin], it doesn't deter his exploration.

This desire to explore was one of the reasons he took the Hunter exam.

Because during this exam, Netero would be present, providing opportunities to interact and clarify his doubts about [Hundred Styles Guanyin].

"Is Nen a normal perception? Hahahaha... an interesting perspective. So what do you think the essence of Nen is?" Netero inquired.

"Nen is the epitome of aura!" Ethan answered without hesitation, as this is the common understanding among Nen users.

But after answering, Ethan had a realization.

Nen is a comprehensive expression of aura, yet this expression lacks a standard definition. It simply represents a more advanced application of aura.

If that's the case, could [Hundred Styles Guanyin], which also stems from self-reflection, be a more advanced form of Nen?

This train of thought shifted Ethan's expression from contemplation to surprise.

Ultimately, his understanding of Nen, whether from his experiences after time travel or the original story, was limited to a certain extent, not a complete understanding.

"It seems you've realized something..." Netero observed Ethan's reaction with a slight smile.

Ethan nodded and said, "A little. While I haven't fully grasped it, I do have some ideas."

Pausing, he continued earnestly, "President, do you think abilities like [Hundred Styles Guanyin] can be acquired through practice?"

No one would turn away from such power as [Hundred Styles Guanyin].

Understanding its form, Ethan naturally wanted to try learning it.

"Why not," Netero replied with a smile.

Is it really possible?

Ethan's interest was piqued, and he eagerly asked, "Please advise me, President!"

"I'd love to teach you, but it's not just about learning. You're still far from ready." Netero spread his hands, speaking candidly.

Ethan asked humbly, "Then where should I start strengthening?"

"You need improvement in mind, body, and skill," Netero said bluntly.

Ethan pondered, mind, body, and skills...

Before Netero began practicing strikes with gratitude, he felt his body and martial arts had reached their limits, akin to body and technique.

As for the mind... didn't his later training encompass heart discipline?

Suddenly, clarity washed over Ethan, as if clouds had parted to reveal the sun.

Though Netero appeared to criticize Ethan's shortcomings, in reality, he'd shown how to cultivate abilities like [Hundred Styles Guanyin].

"Thank you, President, for your guidance!" Ethan thanked Netero sincerely.

"Hahahaha... I did nothing. Everything depends on your ability," Netero laughed.

The reason he shared so much was because Ethan had mastered the [Heart Drop Technique] at a young age, showing enough potential.

Much like Netero's final battle with the Ant King, he'd rather die magnificently in a grand fight than slowly wither away.

If Ethan could truly comprehend such power, he would be worthy of a real battle with Netero. This was the outcome Netero hoped for.
