I’m Not a Saint, Not a Priest, Just a Healer.

Chapter 15 - Underground Dungeon, Once Again (1)

The entry order was slightly modified.
Last time, all the adventurers were supposed to enter before the knights, but due to unexpected problems, this time they decided to mix adventurers and knights half and half for entry.
Alec stood at the vanguard party again this time.
Behind him entered Yona, the healer, and behind her stood Rud, the self-proclaimed champion.
Among the fifteen adventurers divided into three parties, ten knights, three priests, and Bigrind joined in.
Then again fifteen adventurers, followed by ten knights and two priests, with Eije at the rear.
It was a formation designed to mix the order so that even if they were cut off in the middle like last time, they could still face the demon.
“So, I cracked that demonic beast’s head open just like that.”
Yona, who had been listening to Rud’s boastful tale while giggling, quietly placed her hand on Alec’s shoulder.
The torchlight flickered, filling the corridor with an ambiguous brightness, and between them, the footsteps of the adventurers and knights who were holding their breath.
Everyone looked tense, but Rud alone was smiling, seeming so relaxed for some reason.
“Hey, could you close your mouth for a bit? Everyone’s tense.”
“There aren’t even any demonic beasts here, what’s the big deal?”
How do you know whether there are demonic beasts or not?
Yona really disliked this man called Rud.
“Alec, waist.”
When Yona tapped Alec’s shoulder, he silently leaned his waist back slightly without replying.
Yona rummaged through the sling bag hanging at his waist, took out a light stone, briefly made eye contact with Alec, then crushed the stone’s core and threw it hard.

The corridor suddenly brightened.
But unlike before, there were no demonic beasts scattering with a “shaa” sound anywhere to be seen.
It was literally dead silent.
In that silence, the strangely ominous atmosphere still persisted.
“Ugh…”
Yona unconsciously stroked her right arm, tightly wrapped in the holy cloth.
Somehow it gives her goosebumps.
Even though she’s a half-baked cleric who can’t even perform purification, she still handles holy power, so she’s particularly sensitive to such eerie places.
“Are you okay?”
Alec, who was walking ahead, stopped for a moment and turned to look at Yona.
“It’s nothing. How can the vanguard look back? Quickly, look ahead. Something bad might happen.”
“I have eyes on my back too, you know.”
Yona lightly snorted at Alec’s words.
That’s ridiculous.
Suddenly, she thought about the reward.
The reason she’s working so hard to save money.
“Shit, once this is over, it’ll be seven gold coins.”
Yona thought about the piggy bank she had well hidden in her inn room.
Including the reward she’ll receive this time, it’ll be seven gold coins.
There are also a few silver and copper coins mixed in, but anyway, seven gold coins.
“You’ve saved a lot, huh?”
“I’ve been saving hard. Because you need money to join the community.”
The mage community.
It’s the name of the huge tower between the Viridien Principality and the Infula Church Territory.
A massive tower on a completely different level from the one in Evian that’s a tower in name only.
They say all the famous mages from across the continent are gathered there.
“…Are you really going there?”
Amidst the clacking sound of boots, only the conversation between Alec and Yona echoed aimlessly.
Alec’s gaze remained fixed ahead, and behind him, Yona also surveyed the front and sides, yet their mouths continued the conversation well.
“I’m going. I told you I’m determined to return as a man. I will definitely go back.”
“Are you serious about that?”
“How many times do I have to say I’m serious?”
Yona lightly smacked the back of Alec’s head and then put her hand back on his shoulder.
“I will definitely go back.”
Yona burned with determination.
Returning to the original world, and returning as a man.
If both are difficult to achieve, at least returning as a man, she wants to accomplish this without fail.
And the self-proclaimed champion Rud was watching her with an interested gaze.
*
“Don’t think about recovering the bodies, just gather the belongings. Let’s take them all at once when we retreat later.”
Kairoc looked around and spoke in a low voice.
It was a small voice, but it was clearly audible because it was so quiet.
There was no hope of recovering the scattered bodies of adventurers around.
They too might have to lie on this cold floor to face the demon.
But there’s no need to be held back by such thoughts.
They planned to defeat the demon spectacularly and take out at least the belongings of those who had already died as they left.
“This bastard’s body is gone too.”
Yona looked around the second floor of the catacomb where even the corpses had disappeared as if the last battle had been a lie.
There was clearly a bloody fight here.
But now those bodies had vanished without a trace.
“Yona.”
“Teacher.”
Eije, who had been separated into a different party and headed for the opposite entrance, approached her.
“How’s your arm? Do you feel anything strange?”
Eije stroked Yona’s right arm with a worried face.
Even Yona herself had been particularly attentive to whether she felt anything in her right arm.
Nevertheless, there was nothing particularly unusual.
“No, nothing like that. I don’t feel anything at all.”
“I see.”
“Priestess Eije.”
Bigrind also approached Eije’s side.
Bigrind’s face, which was pale due to not getting much sunlight, had turned even more blue, looking pitiable.
“Priestess Bigrind, are you alright?”
“…I should say I’m fine, but I can’t.”
Yona felt it less, but the stronger the holy power, the more one could feel what kind of place this was.
Both Eije and Bigrind felt it.
It seemed true that a demon was coiled up in this place.
This terrible chill conflicted with holy power, and the stronger the holy power, the greater the pressure they felt.
It was all pitch-black darkness.
Even with torches, the surrounding rock bricks had turned black, so they could barely see their feet, but it was not enough to burn away this darkness.
“Priestess Bigrind, at times like this, you must strengthen your heart. You mustn’t be afraid.”
At those words, Bigrind bit her lower lip hard.
Yes, she was scared.
Bigrind was scared.
Compared to her, Yona seemed unaffected, but even trying to think it was because she was a healer with just a bit of holy power provided no comfort.
While Yona was so fine, the fact that she, who was overwhelmingly superior, was afraid was unacceptable.
It doesn’t make sense.
“W-Who said I’m afraid? I’m fine. This demon or whatever, it’s nothing. I’ll purify it in an instant.”
“That’s the spirit. Demons tend to exploit weak minds.”
“…Yes.”
Whether Bigrind understood or not, at least she responded, so she must have understood something.
Yona decided to pay no more attention to her.
Anyway, after this job is over, she’ll go to the mage community to undo the magic—it must be magic—cast on this body and return to being a man.
And after that, whatever she does, she’ll save more money and return to her original world.
Bigrind had no place in that plan.
She didn’t want to care about her.
*
It must already be deep into the night.
After taking a short rest on the second floor, the subjugation team leader, who was also the knight captain, called the party leaders together and informed them that the break was over.
After checking the members who were gathering, putting on their equipment as if they had never been resting, it was time to go down to the third floor.
Bigrind stepped forward in front of the group.
With her red hair tied up on both sides and wearing a neat white robe, she looked sacred at a glance, and the adventurers’ gazes turned to her.
A soft white light began to rise from Bigrind’s clasped hands.
The round-shaped white light soon grew to the size of a human head, then floated up into the air.
As everyone looked up, it rose until it almost touched the ceiling of the second floor, then burst with a bright light, showering its sparkle over the heads of the subjugation team members below.
“I’ve bestowed the blessing of magic resistance. Now, even if you face the demon, you’ll be able to withstand its magic for a while.”
With Bigrind’s words, the surroundings became a bit noisy.
Isn’t this the first time receiving something like this, it’s my first time too, isn’t this expensive to receive, does this make us invincible—
Since it’s the first time for the overwhelming majority of people, it’s quite a moving experience in itself.
The dark gray stone door was firmly closed.
They say that in the past, this stone door was covered with black moss like the other rock bricks so they couldn’t find it, but some adventurous adventurer or whoever must have managed to find it somehow.
“…So, if we open that stone door, it’s the third floor, right.”
Of all things, opening the door is also the vanguard party’s job.
Moreover, it’s the job of the guard at the very front of the vanguard party, Alec!
Alec spat on the ground and muttered curses under his breath.
“If I had known in advance, I wouldn’t have volunteered for the vanguard party.”
“Are you scared?”
Alec shook his head violently at Yona’s voice from behind.
He’s actually terribly scared, but he doesn’t want to show it.
“You bastard, you are scared. Hey, I’ll be generous. If you make it out of here alive, I’ll let you touch my breasts, for real.”
“Really?”
At that moment, Alec turned around.
And his eyes met with Yona, who was grinning.
“Of course, you idiot. Don’t you trust your big bro?”
“I do trust you, but hey. Just touching is a bit…”
“Huh?”
She wondered when he had been singing about wanting to touch them, and now he says that’s a bit much.
It was unexpected.
Yona wondered if Alec was sick somewhere, or if he had really been possessed by some demonic energy.
“Just touching is a bit much, let me knead them.”
“…You bastard. Fine, fine. I’ll let you knead them all you want. Happy now?”
Yona grinned at him, and Alec grinned back.
His courage multiplied.
How many times had he been overwhelmed with temptation every time he saw those breasts bouncing as Yona walked?
For the sake of kneading those luscious, massive breasts to his heart’s content, Alec vowed and vowed again that he would survive no matter what.
