Supernatural beings or spirits born from the accumulation of Mana, Spiritual Force, and desires. Often possessing malevolent or mischievous qualities, Yokai take on various forms—from animals to humanoid creatures—and wield extraordinary powers. While many Yokai are known for chaos, trickery, or fear, others serve as protectors or bring fortune. Their connection to the natural world and the human spirit shapes their nature and influence.

Mana:

A mystical energy that flows through all living things and the environment. Mana is the lifeblood of sorcery, essential for performing magic and influencing the world. It can be drawn from the surroundings or living beings and replenished through rest or ritual, though excessive use can deplete its reserves, leaving the user vulnerable.

Blighted Mana:

A corrupted, tainted form of mana, often resulting from dark magic, curses, or malevolent influences. Unstable and dangerous, Blighted Mana can have unpredictable effects, corrupting the environment and poisoning those who wield it. It is a forbidden and dangerous power, feared by many cultures for the havoc it can wreak.

Desire:

Oathfire:

A mystical energy born from a knight's vows and promises. This inner flame amplifies strength and resolve, especially in moments of crisis. Oathfire grows with a knight's honor and commitment, empowering them with extraordinary abilities when defending sacred oaths. The intensity of Oathfire is tied to the purity of a knight's beliefs and dedication.

Vitalis:

The essence that sustains life itself. Vitalis is the core energy that fuels living beings, keeping them alive and enabling their functioning. It is synonymous with vitality, endurance, and the strength to survive. Vitalis is often associated with health and longevity, as well as the source of life force in creatures.

Spiritual Force:

A powerful, ethereal energy that connects all living beings to the spiritual realm. It governs emotions, intentions, and the manifestation of supernatural abilities. Spiritual Force is considered the guiding power behind one's inner strength, influencing actions and granting abilities such as healing, spiritual manipulation, and mystical arts. It is often harnessed in rituals and for personal empowerment.

Mystical Arts:

A set of practices involving the manipulation of supernatural forces through rituals, incantations, and deep knowledge. Mystical Arts enable feats that defy natural laws, such as divination, enchantment, and energy manipulation. Practitioners of these arts are often learned in ancient texts and traditions, using their power to influence the world in subtle and profound ways.

Soul Manifestation:

The outward expression of a person's soul. Soul Manifestations vary from individual to individual, often reflecting the user's inner character, beliefs, and desires. These manifestations can take many forms, from physical representations to ethereal manifestations of power, and often guide the user's path in the world.

Yokai Ranks:

Apostles:

The highest tier of Yokai, these ancient beings possess legendary power and influence. They control vast regions or domains and can reshape the world itself with their abilities. Apostles are nearly immortal and can manipulate massive amounts of Blighted Mana, influencing ecosystems, spirits, and mortals alike.

Abilities: Near-immortality, control over entire regions, immense Blighted Mana manipulation, and the ability to reshape the world.

Yokai Lords:

Highly powerful beings who have mastered their spiritual force. Yokai Lords can bring widespread destruction and alter the environment on a large scale. They are feared by both mortals and other Yokai, and their powers approach the level of Apostles.

Abilities: Mastery over their Pillars (e.g., storms, floods, famine), large-scale environmental manipulation, and immense spiritual influence.

Greater Yokai:

These Yokai have achieved high mastery over their chosen Pillars and are capable of immense destruction. Known and feared, they can alter the world around them or cause significant spiritual disturbances. Greater Yokai hold power over large swaths of land or entire spiritual realms.

Abilities: High-level manipulation of their Pillars, large-scale environmental changes, and spiritual disturbances.

Minor Yokai:

These Yokai are maturing beings, beginning to master their abilities. Though they are not as powerful as Greater Yokai, they can hold their own in battle and control lesser Yokai. Many Minor Yokai use their powers for territorial control or to manipulate emotions.

Abilities: Advanced Blighted Mana manipulation, control over lesser Yokai, minor emotional manipulation, and the ability to take on human form or create illusions.

Lesser Yokai:

Weak or young Yokai, these creatures are at the bottom tier of the Yokai hierarchy. They are still learning to control their powers and often rely on consuming humans, desires, or other Yokai to grow stronger.

Abilities: Limited Blighted Mana manipulation, basic control over emotions, and a need to feed on others to gain strength.

Crazed Yokai:

Newly born Yokai, these creatures are disoriented, lacking intelligence and often hostile toward everything around them. Crazed Yokai are dangerous due to their unpredictability and raw power.

Abilities: Limited Blighted Mana manipulation, chaotic abilities, and little self-control.

Egg-Bound Yokai:

These are unborn Yokai in egg form, waiting to hatch. Depending on their environment and influences, they may either hatch into Crazed Yokai or grow into more developed beings. The hatching process is unpredictable, and the power of the Yokai may vary significantly.

Abilities: Dormant Blighted Mana, potential to develop into Crazed or higher-tier Yokai, highly unpredictable growth.
