I'm Really Not a Pokémon

Chapter 17: You Have to Admit Your Mistake, I Said

"You are?"

The old man dressed as a butler looked at the dusty looking youth in front of him through the ornately decorated gate and inquired about his identity suspiciously.

"Greetings sir, my name is Rope Harlow, I am a Pokémon Professor, I have recently encountered some matters, and I have been entrusted by Professor Oak of Pallet Town to visit Mr. Bell."

Rope said as she stood outside the gate of the manor and bowed rather politely towards the butler.

As soon as the butler heard that the visitor was a Pokémon Professor, and that he had been entrusted by Professor Oak, who was a big name in the research world, his attitude immediately added a few more points of respect.

"Hello Professor Harlow, I'll go and report your arrival to the mayor first, please wait here for a moment."

"Yes, please."

Rope watched the butler's back through the iron door and narrowed his eyes, not sure what he was thinking.

His purpose in coming here was to resolve Charmander's knot. Charmander's knot was nothing more than proving that he could defeat Light's Pokémon and didn't need Bailey to give it up in exchange for his peace. The second is nothing more than getting Bailey, who abandoned him, to apologize.

Rope hadn't thought before he arrived that this matter would involve the mayor of Viridian City. Much less that Light would have died right then and there if he hadn't arrived just in time.

A bear child makes you want to beat him up wildly, beat him up anywhere, but the crime doesn't stop there. When a child is labeled a bear child, the parents are 90% responsible.

From the perspective of the theory of human nature being good, it is called spoiling. From the perspective of the theory of human nature being evil, it is called under-education.

Bell bought the murderer for two reasons.

One, to take the heat off himself. Bullying his children is a slap in the face.

Two, this kind of behavior of abandoning his Pokémon to meticulously escape without the slightest bit of resistance would completely cost Bailey his future in the field of trainers. The community of trainers, which represents humanity's sense of exploration and enterprise, can hardly accommodate a coward.

Light disappeared and Charmander took him back so that the incident would never be noticed.

I don't know whether to call it "pity for the parents" or simply giving up on raising children.

Anyway, it became clear to Rope last night that there was no way this was going to go away. He could use Professor Oak, Red, and Blue's influence in Viridian City and even the Kanto region to push people around.

But an apology like that was not what Rope wanted.

It would be best if he could use his mouth to persuade the other party to apologize. If he couldn't... it was far better to beat them into submission. The best way to take it out on them was to beat them up.

He was here to take it out on Charmander.

He was suddenly grateful for his increased abilities, and it seemed that he would have to follow the advice given by Professor Oak earlier and take in more to increase his sample.

But when he thought about it, he had a headache again. With his character of preferring to have more than he needs, how could he somehow take in a large number of Pokémon? What he was most afraid of now was that he would arrive at the Indigo Plateau Conference without having collected all six Pokémon...

But he didn't have time to think about it too much, and soon the butler who had gone ahead to inform him earlier returned with a big smile. He walked to the iron door and opened it with a smile, then bowed towards Rope and said, "Professor Harlow, Mayor Bell is already waiting for you in the living room, welcome."

Rope smiled politely and said, "It was me who took the liberty of visiting without advance notice, I am very sorry."

The butler smiled, made a "please" gesture, and then walked ahead to lead the way, Rope felt Charmander's Pokéball on his waist trembled, he patted the Pokéball, signaling Charmander to be at ease, and then walked with his head held high. Then he walked into the manor with his head held high as if he really had something big to discuss.

Rope and Bell sat opposite each other, with a complete set of tea sets on the coffee table in front of them. Bell made tea with a smile and her movements were very skillful. Compared with the popular tea ceremony techniques in Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh and Hoenn region, it looked more like foreign tea art such as Unova and Kalos.

"I wonder what Professor Harlow came to see me about this time?"

Bell smiled a gentle, flat smile. He had already looked up this "Professor Harlow" before he arrived. He knew that he had just been named Professor this year, and that he was friends with two great gods, Professor Oak, Red, and Blue. He has confirmed his background and is someone he can't afford to mess with.

As for Rope's purpose in coming to him, he felt that he already had a number.

A researcher who had just become a Professor and was also good friends with Viridian Gym's Gym Leader Blue, he thought that Rope's purpose of coming here was to set up his own research organization in Viridian City. Coming to himself was nothing more than asking for some support.

It was good to pass the time and socialize a bit. After all, Viridian City didn't have a leader in research right now. In this way, it would also be considered filling a blank area in Viridian City. Win-win cooperation, he was always in favor of such things.

Rope took a sip of his black tea and smiled, "Let me tell you a story."

Bell was a little confused for a moment, but quickly replied, smiling, "All ears."

"There was a teenager who had a very talented initial Pokémon, which he got with the help of his father. But this Pokémon aroused the covetousness of his antagonist, so when he began to travel alone, the antagonist sneaked up on him and threatened him without releasing the Pokémon, telling him to release that Pokémon and then take it in himself. In this way, fearing injury, he stomped on the Pokéball after releasing the Pokémon. in this way, legally, the Pokémon was ownerless and could be captured. But that Pokémon's attempt to rescue its owner, who had abandoned it, from the other's hands was rejected by the owner. "

"'You can't do it! Will you be good and get caught by him! I don't want to get beaten up!' The teenager says. But the unruly Pokémon didn't listen to his instructions, gave him a disappointed look, and then left on his own, ignoring his opponent's request for a sparring match and the other Pokémon that had already begun to brew an attack."

"Annoyed, the antagonist punched the teenager and left as well. The teenager fled back to his home and told his father what had happened. The father knew that the incident was a big deal that could potentially affect his child's future. So he released another story to the public while protecting his child. The teenager in this story was not unpleasant. A little weak, but not unforgivable."

"And the father knew that there were two other people who knew about this story. One was the rival teenager, and the other was the escaped Pokémon."

"And so, what he did afterward was all but predictable. After all, a Pokémon Hunter named Rai was arrested last night."

Rope took another sip of tea after finishing. Looking at Bell, whose face was as gloomy as water, he smiled and said, "Mr. Mayor, you know this story, right?"

"What do you want to say?" Bell's tone remained calm.

"I, for one, took in that Charmander. so I'm here to make Bailey apologize to my Charmander."

Rope purposely emphasized on the word 'my'.

Bell was silent for a moment, then once again picked up the teapot and filled Rope's teacup with tea, saying, "Professor Harlow, everything can be talked about, and apologizing can be very damaging to a child's self-esteem. Tell you what, how about I, as the father, apologize for Bailey?"

Rope, however, blocked his motion to fill the tea.

"Mayor, you have to admit when you've made a mistake. It has nothing to do with age. Besides...you making a teapot out of a disguised Polteageist...that's not exactly hospitality."

"It's a mistake, your son made it, he has to admit it, I say."
