I'm sorry love, I'm sorry

Chapter 4: Chapter 4.

"Thank you for bringing lunch," I said, saying goodbye. What I hadn't thought about was that he wasn't eating. "You prepared a meal for me, but I didn't see you eat."

He smiled and said, "It's good that you care about me." He took my face in his hands and gave me a kiss on the lips. "I ate before I brought it to you."

"Then I'll be calmer," I kissed him on the cheek, "go home."

He nods. "I'm leaving," he says, "he walks away smiling, leaving me standing there.

"I guess the wedding won't be long," Ava says jokingly.

"I'm asking to be a bridesmaid," she says, continuing the joke.

"It's a long way to go," she replied.

They both laugh and say, "You don't even believe it."

Before she can respond, some customers arrive.

“Time to work,” I tell them, looking at them.

The rest of the day was quite exhausting, the clients arrived one after another. Night fell quite quickly.

When I realized that I was already cleaning the tables, Irem, Ava and Chiara were helping me with more tasks.

I see a young man enter. "I'm so sorry, we're already closed."

Becca leaves the kitchen when she sees the man freeze.

"You're really here, when were you going to tell us?" I ask annoyed.

She looks at him with hatred. "Since when are you interested in what I do?"

She brought me closer to the others and I took them with me to the kitchen, but that doesn't help because I know how to listen to everything.

"What's your damn problem?" he asks. "You ran away from home like a fucking thief."

"I left where they never wanted me."

"Our father has been looking for you all these years, and our mother has been looking for you too."

"Everyone thinks I was just a troubled teenager." Her face changes; now she looks sad. "Mom?" Now you call her that. "She runs her hand through her hair." She's not our mother; she's only our father's wife."

"Why do you hate her so much?" She asks.

"Because she helped a criminal, she hurt me, and she didn't pay for what she did," she says, pushing him back. "She went to your parents; tell them they're dead to me. I don't want them anywhere near me."

"Are you back for Caleb?"

She shakes her head. "I came back because I didn't do anything wrong; no one will ever throw me out of the house again. Go away."

He nods and hands her a folder.

"Dad wants you to finish your studies; this institute will be good for you."

"I don't want anything from him."

She puts it on the table: "Back then, she thought it was the right thing to do."

He leaves without saying anything else, and Becca stands still without saying anything.

We left the kitchen, and we all approached her.

"Are you alright?" I asked him, "Can you go home? We're almost done."

"I'm fine; it's shit that sooner or later I would have to face."

"All right."

"Let's continue."

After that altercation, we all continued cleaning as usual. In the end, we each went home; Becca and I were the only ones.

"You are really fine?" She asked, breaking the silence.

She shrugs. "I don't want to have bad thoughts."

"I hate getting involved in other people's business, but who is Caleb?"

She doesn't seem surprised by my question: "He's my ex-boyfriend."

“Why does your brother think you are here for him?”

"He and his parents had an accident, and only he survived; however, there was a problem," she sighs. "He lost his memory and forgot about me. Life goes on."

"Do you still want it?" She asked, intrigued.

"No, it wasn't what I imagined."

I nodded, then he was gone, and only I was there, but not for long.

Joseph arrives a few minutes later and takes me home. Once he gets home, he says goodbye to me.

"Do you want to go on a date with me?" she asks suddenly.

"Come on, tomorrow is my day off."

He nods happily and says, "It's okay." He hugs me. "Go home."

Once he got to the door, I opened it and voices were heard. He entered the room, and he was my mother. She is not alone; that “man” is with her.

My mother sees me and smiles at me. Honey, "come with us."

"Good night," she said awkwardly.

"I made the food," she announces. "Will you stay for dinner with us?" She asks me.

He seems pleased, and I don't like the smile he has. "Of course, what about the kids?."

"Asleep, I gave them their snack, and they played for a few more hours. Then they fell asleep."

"Thank you, mother."

She just smiles at me. "We head to the dining room."

"Can I help you bring dinner?"

"No, stay with our guest."

I rolled my eyes and reluctantly agreed.

I'm not blind; I know what her intentions are, and she is very bad at hiding them.

I'm so caught up in my thoughts that I don't notice what she's doing. I snap out of my trance and see her hand on mine.

"Do you want to go out with me?" she says, smiling.

She pulled my hand out of hers. "No, I'm dating someone."

"What the hell, Juliett?" My mother had heard the argument.

"What you heard is that I have a boyfriend."

"Who is he?" she asks me, annoyed.

"He moved in a month ago, his name is Joseph Beckmann" They both turned pale, and I looked at them confused "I won't change my mind."

"I thought you'd eventually fall in love with him," she said, looking at his “friend.”

"I don't know why you believed that; let me tell you this," he sighed. "I would never do it, mom; get that idea out of your mind."

After that, I went to bed with the same thought: would I ever remember everything?

*******

Becca.

I get out of the taxi and see my brother in the driveway.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him, annoyed with her presence. "I thought she was clear with you!" She yelled at him.

He seems quite remorseful: "We haven't finished talking yet; you're my sister."

I nod my head. He knew that he had no escape; this time he had to defeat the past. Sooner or later he would have to face them.

"Okay, but hurry up." He nods, opening the door and closing it behind him. "You start, since it seems like you have a lot to say."

"I'm very sorry for everything I said back then; I didn't mean it." I clearly understand what you mean: "Dad's been worried about you; we haven't seen you in years."

I remember what he told me when I went to see dad: "You're a troubled teenager; you should have compassion for dad." "You're a shame to the fa

mily."

All of that hurt a lot, and that's why I fled a few days later.

"Are you coming because I forgave you? He forgave you."

"I want us to be the same again," she said, smiling.

"I forgave them a long time ago, there's no way everything can be the same as before."

Not after that day.
