IN ANOTHER WORLD

Chapter 20: 20. Legend of Zelda!

The cool night air swirled through the trees as the group gathered around the flickering campfire. The mysterious realm they found themselves in seemed vast and uncertain, and the flickering light from the fire only added to the growing sense of unease. As the stars twinkled overhead, Rachel stood, his gaze distant, almost as if he were considering the very nature of their existence in this world.

Rachel's voice broke the silence, his words carrying an eerie weight. "Hmm, I think I have finally pieced together what happened. Somehow, during your travels through time, Rema's power awakened. This, in turn, caused you all to enter an entirely different dimension—one that even I didn't foresee. No one has ever wielded the power of the space-time tunnel. It's unprecedented."

Sou, already feeling the weight of their mission pressing down on him, raised an eyebrow. "So how do you know all of this? How can you be so certain?"

Rachel's eyes gleamed with knowledge, and he chuckled softly. "The answer lies in the ancient lore. Legend of Zelda. It's been passed down through the generations in LeMans. When the Three Gods from the Heavens land on this world, time will reverse itself to where it all began. Your arrival here—your very presence—has set this chain of events in motion."

Sou furrowed his brow, his mind racing to understand the gravity of Rachel's words. "What does that mean? You're saying we're the cause of everything?"

Rachel nodded solemnly, his voice low and serious. "It means that you three are the key to the downfall of the Sun Kingdom. The destruction of the Sun King's reign. Your destinies are intertwined, and fate has chosen you to bring about this end."

The air grew heavy as the weight of their mission settled upon their shoulders. Rema, who had been silently listening, furrowed her brow in confusion. "Okay, I don't want to interrupt your philosophical musings, but why are these spirit stones still glowing? We've already lost them, right?"

Rachel snapped out of his reverie, his gaze turning to the glowing stones they still held. With a quiet incantation, he gestured toward them, weaving his magic around the stones with practiced ease. Sou's stone began to shimmer, transforming before their eyes into a delicate earring, while Rema's stone morphed into a fine necklace.

Rachel smiled as he handed them to the two of them. "There, now you both can wear these. The stones have stored your manna—your spiritual energy. They will act as conduits for your powers. Whenever you're in danger, these will help you channel your energy and protect you. They'll be your lifeline, but only when necessary."

Sou examined the earring in his hand, noting how the blue glow seemed to pulse with a subtle rhythm. "So these will actually help us in a fight? Or... when we need them?"

"Precisely," Rachel replied. "But remember, use them wisely. They are powerful, but their strength lies in how you choose to use it."

Rema, holding her newly formed necklace, sighed with a slight air of relief. "Thank you, Rachel. This is... this is something I never expected. It feels like a part of me is being awakened."

Rachel's smile was warm, but there was something far more profound in his eyes. "Rest easy, dear. These powers will guide you. But for now, it's late. We should get some rest. We need all the strength we can muster for what lies ahead."

Sou yawned, stretching his arms above his head. "Yeah, I guess you're right. It's been a long day, and we need to get moving early tomorrow."

Rema, however, didn't seem quite as enthusiastic about the idea of sleep. She rubbed her eyes, clearly exhausted but with a hint of annoyance. "I'm so tired of sleeping on the ground every night. I miss my soft, fluffy bed back home. You know, where I can actually stretch out without getting poked by roots or rocks!"

Sou snickered. "That's why girls are so bothersome. Always complaining about their comfort."

Rema shot him a glare, her irritation bubbling over. "Oh, it's you again! Can you ever just leave me alone for five minutes?"

Rachel chuckled at their banter, stepping in with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Rema. If all goes well, we should be able to sleep in a proper bed tomorrow night in Volmot City. I've already made arrangements. You won't have to worry about sleeping on the ground anymore."

Rema's eyes sparkled with hope, and she clapped her hands together in excitement. "Really? Oh, you're such an angel, Rachel!"

Sou, still skeptical, raised an eyebrow. "Wait a minute. Hold on. You're telling me there's a city here? In this world? I thought we were in some kind of wilderness!"

Rachel's smile widened, amused by Sou's surprise. "Why not? Here in this world, humans and spirits live side by side. Everything is similar to your world, just... a little different. Volmot City is a bustling place, full of both human and mystical inhabitants. I've lived here for quite some time, and I'm sure you'll find it... fascinating."

Sou blinked in disbelief, still processing the idea of a city existing in this unfamiliar world. "That's... that's actually shocking. I thought we were stranded in some weird alternate dimension or something. But a city? That's... unbelievable."

Rachel shrugged, unbothered by their astonishment. "It's all part of the world you're in now. But that's a discussion for another time. For now, let's all get some rest. Tomorrow will be a new day, and we'll have much to do."

The fire crackled softly as they all settled in for the night, each of them lost in their thoughts about the journey ahead. But before they could fully drift off, Dr. Ren, who had been unusually quiet, spoke up, his voice cutting through the silence.

"Wait, guys," Dr. Ren interjected, his eyes wide with concern. "Aren't we forgetting something? What about my power? I'm the only one here without any sort of magic or special ability! How can I help you all if I'm powerless?"

The group fell silent, turning toward Dr. Ren. His usual scientific and logical demeanor was replaced by a hint of vulnerability. He had always been the one to rely on knowledge and invention, but now, with the power of magic surrounding them, he was left questioning his place in this new world.

Rachel paused, considering Dr. Ren's words carefully. "You're not powerless, Dr. Ren," he said, his voice calm but reassuring. "Your intellect, your mind—those are your greatest strengths. The magic you seek is not always in stones or powers; sometimes, it's in what you know. You are an invaluable part of this group, and your inventions will be crucial in the battles to come. Never underestimate your worth."

Dr. Ren smiled faintly, though the doubt still lingered in his eyes. "I hope you're right," he muttered, but the tension in his voice seemed to ease, if only slightly.

Sou, sensing the need to lift the mood, clapped Dr. Ren on the back. "Hey, don't worry. If you ever need someone to help you design a new gadget or something, I'm your guy. We've got your back."

Rema added with a grin, "And besides, who else would keep us all grounded in reality? You're the glue that holds us together."

Dr. Ren chuckled, his spirits lifting. "Thanks, guys. Guess I'll have to find a way to contribute, even without magic."

With that, the group settled into the quiet of the night, the uncertainty of their future lingering in the air. Tomorrow would bring them closer to their goal, but it would also present new challenges. And the journey to Volmot City was only the beginning. The path ahead, filled with mystery, magic, and peril, would test them in ways they never could have imagined.

As the first rays of dawn began to creep over the horizon, they knew one thing for sure: they were in this together, and whatever happened, they would face it as one.
