Chapter 22 - Shin'ō Academy

After conquering Yoruichi Shihōin, Gilgamesh checked his attribute panel.

[Name: Gilgamesh]

[Character Template: Gilgamesh (Young)]

[Class: Archer]

Spiritual Pressure: 50,000

Spiritual Power: 500

Royal Points: 55,900

Originally, Gilgamesh had 45,827 royal points. Now, it had increased to 55,900. This included the 10,000 points brought by Yoruichi Shihōin as well as the points from the new citizens of Kusajishi and Takoyaki.

However, the combined population of Kusajishi and Takoyaki was only about 100,000. This meant that the points Gilgamesh could acquire from these areas were nearing their limit.

After Yoruichi's submission, she wholeheartedly began offering her advice to Gilgamesh. Addressing the issue of talent acquisition that troubled him, Yoruichi pondered for a moment before speaking.

"Most talents in Rukongai have already been absorbed by the noble families. At this stage, it's almost impossible to poach these talents from the major families."

Gilgamesh nodded in agreement. Even with his Charm of the Beautiful Boy (C) and Leadership (A+) attributes, which easily garnered goodwill and trust, it was currently impractical to recruit these talents from the noble families. His kingdom's foundation was in the most remote and backward regions of Rukongai. People who lived there were acutely aware of its poverty, backwardness, and chaos.

Why would they abandon their comfortable lives to suffer here? Was it just for the future promises Gilgamesh painted? Perhaps some might be swayed by his charisma, but finding such people among the vast populace of Rukongai was like searching for a needle in a haystack. Gilgamesh wasn't willing to waste time on this now. The right moment would be after he had built his kingdom and established his reputation.

Yoruichi continued, "Though there might be some hidden gems in Rukongai, it's unrealistic to find them accurately."

She then looked at Gilgamesh seriously and said, "So, we shouldn't focus on Rukongai. I know a place where many talents from Rukongai gather, and they haven't joined any factions yet."

Hearing Yoruichi's words, Gilgamesh's heart stirred. Through his omniscient star, he already knew where Yoruichi was referring to.

"That place is…"

"Shin'ō Academy!" Yoruichi declared.

She began explaining the academy to Gilgamesh, fearing he might not be familiar with it.

"Shin'ō Academy can be considered the Soul Society's institution for training Shinigami. It was established a thousand years ago by the current Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13, Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto."

"The academy's doors are open to anyone. Even those from Rukongai can enroll as long as they pass the entrance exam. Many Rukongai citizens view getting into Shin'ō Academy as their only chance to change their fate. Therefore, many aspiring and talented individuals from Rukongai aim to get into the academy. Many of the current Gotei 13 Shinigami, including seated officers, lieutenants, and even captains, originated from Rukongai."

Gilgamesh was naturally aware of Shin'ō Academy. In his plans, entering the academy was a crucial step. Knowing oneself and the enemy was the key to victory. To establish a kingdom in Rukongai meant eventually opposing the Shinigami and nobles of the Soul Society.

However, his knowledge of Shinigami, nobles, and the Soul Society was based on the "Bleach" anime. Reality undoubtedly differed from the anime, which only depicted the main storyline and key events. Reality had countless details the anime couldn't cover. Thus, Gilgamesh needed firsthand understanding.

Additionally, Gilgamesh aimed to acquire the Shinigami's four fundamental skills: Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hohō, and Kidō, to promote these within his kingdom, thereby enhancing his people's strength and even training his own Shinigami. Future conflicts were inevitable, and strengthening his forces was essential.

Although he could exchange for these skills through the system's shop, doing so required royal points. Since Shin'ō Academy offered free training in these skills, why waste points?

Moreover, the academy periodically conducted soul burial practice in the human world. Gilgamesh also wanted to visit the human world.

As for the Zanpakutō, although enrolling in Shin'ō Academy would grant him an Asauchi, allowing him to develop his own Zanpakutō, Gilgamesh didn't crave it as much.

First, there were many treasures in the Gate of Babylon that could substitute for a Zanpakutō. Second, Gilgamesh had his own exclusive treasure, Ea. Third, there was the presence of Ōetsu Nimaiya.

Ōetsu Nimaiya was a special life form born millions of years ago in a chaotic world, alongside the Soul King and the founders of the Five Noble Houses. He currently led the Royal Guard and was bestowed the name "God of the Sword" by the Soul King, known for calling out the true names of all things.

He named Zanpakutō, Shikai, and Bankai. When an Asauchi was handed to a Shinigami, Ōetsu already knew its name. His own Zanpakutō had the power to strip other Zanpakutō of their names, rendering them powerless.

These factors combined made Gilgamesh less eager for a Zanpakutō. Nevertheless, he was curious about what kind of abilities his Zanpakutō would have. So, although he wasn't desperate for it, he didn't reject it either.

Seeing Gilgamesh deep in thought, Yoruichi continued, "However, winning them over won't be easy. The prestige and image of the Soul Society's central area, Seireitei, are deeply ingrained. Compared to Seireitei, we currently have no advantages."

She paused before smiling confidently. "But, I believe this won't be a problem for you."

Gilgamesh smiled brightly, his charm shining through, causing Yoruichi to momentarily lose herself. Exhibiting the polite and humble demeanor of young Gilgamesh, he responded, "Thank you for your trust, Black Cat. In that case, This King willl visit Shin'ō Academy."
