Chapter 28 - Kidō Talent Test!

"Sixth Rank!?"

"Oh my god, this red-haired kid is that strong!?"

"Do you still dare to call him a red-haired kid? Aren't you afraid he'll retaliate?"

"With this talent, as long as nothing goes wrong, he could easily become a Vice-Captain, maybe even a Captain."

"I remember the current Vice-Captain of the Thirteenth Division, Shiba Kaien, had a sixth-rank Reiatsu when he enrolled. He was recognized as a genius."

"Such talent, really enviable."

"But isn't the truly amazing one Gilgamesh? No matter how talented they are, they are still his followers."

Renji couldn't believe his Reiatsu had reached the sixth rank. Ignoring the surrounding exclamations and discussions, he eagerly and excitedly approached Gilgamesh.

He looked like a child who scored full marks on a test, hoping for a reward from his parents. Seeing this, Gilgamesh smiled slightly, not withholding his praise, "Renji, your talent is excellent."

Then, looking at the equally expectant Rukia, he continued, "Rukia too, you two are indeed my left and right hands."

Receiving Gilgamesh's praise, Renji and Rukia felt as if their hearts were filled with sweetness, both showing satisfied smiles. They were also proud to be recognized by Gilgamesh as his left and right hands.

The Reiatsu test continued.

Meanwhile, in the Tenth Division barracks in the Seireitei.

The current Tenth Division Captain, Shiba Isshin, sat at his desk, reluctantly dealing with the mountain of paperwork, sighing from time to time. The current Tenth Division Vice-Captain, Matsumoto Rangiku, stood nearby, arms crossed, staring intently at Shiba Isshin.

Whenever Shiba Isshin sighed, Matsumoto Rangiku would urge, "Captain, don't stop. You still have five stacks of paperwork to handle."

She knew her captain well; he'd slack off whenever he got the chance and throw the work at her. This time, she finally caught him, determined to make him finish all the pending paperwork.

Looking at the two towering stacks of paperwork, Shiba Isshin felt like dying, wanting to howl at the sky.

Suddenly, a terrifying Reiatsu flashed and disappeared.

Matsumoto Rangiku felt the Reiatsu and her pupils contracted sharply, murmuring, "Captain-level Reiatsu? Which Captain released that?"

She looked at Shiba Isshin, only to find him gone, and his voice playfully echoed, "Rangiku-chan, I'm going to check it out. As a Vice-Captain, you shouldn't go. It's too dangerous. Stay and help with the paperwork."

"Ahhh! Captain Shiba is the worst!!!"

Matsumoto Rangiku was really frustrated, her voluptuous body trembling with anger.

Meanwhile, in the Thirteenth Division barracks.

The current Thirteenth Division Captain, Ukitake Jūshirō, sipped tea and apologized, "Kaien, I'm sorry to trouble you with the division's affairs again."

The current Thirteenth Division Vice-Captain, Shiba Kaien, also sipped his tea and waved it off, "Captain Ukitake, if you called me here just to say this, it's unnecessary. This is my duty."

He then stood up, "If there's nothing else, I'll be going."

As Ukitake Jūshirō was about to speak, he felt the terrifying flash of Reiatsu from Yoruichi Shihouin.

Both Shiba Kaien and Ukitake Jūshirō's expressions changed, looking towards the source of the Reiatsu.

Ukitake Jūshirō couldn't help but say, "Is that Shin'ō Academy?"

Frowning, he continued, "I recall today is the entrance exam at Shin'ō Academy. Could that Reiatsu belong to a candidate?"

"That's impossible. Though it was brief, that was clearly Captain-level Reiatsu."

Ukitake Jūshirō thought aloud, "Could it be a scion of one of the Four Great Noble Families?"

"They are born with extraordinary Reiatsu. If it's one of their descendants, it's possible."

"But I haven't heard of any scion from the Four Great Noble Families taking this year's entrance exam."

Shiba Kaien spoke up, "Guessing here won't help. Shin'ō Academy isn't far. I'll go check it out."

Saying that, Shiba Kaien used Shunpo to head towards Shin'ō Academy.

Ukitake Jūshirō wanted to follow but his illness had worsened recently, keeping him bedridden. Even though he felt slightly better today, it was still challenging.

So, he could only watch Shiba Kaien leave, coughing occasionally.

Meanwhile, the brief flash of Captain-level Reiatsu caused a stir in the Seireitei. Although some squads far from Shin'ō Academy didn't sense it, they quickly received information from on-site squad members.

The message stated, "There appears to be a candidate with Captain-level Reiatsu."

In the Seireitei, anything related to Captain-level matters is significant, prompting squads to take action quickly.

Back at Shin'ō Academy, the Kidō talent test site.

The Reiatsu test had ended, and now the second round, the Kidō talent test, was underway.

Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hohō, and Kidō are the four essential skills for Shinigami, so naturally, their talent is tested.

Hakuda talent is included in the Zanjutsu talent test, and there is no test for Shunpo talent. The reason being, Shunpo's requirements for the body and technique are too difficult for the candidates. Even many graduated Shinigami have only a basic grasp of Shunpo.

The current Kidō talent test essentially measures the candidate's control over their Reiatsu.

Specifically, it involves projecting Reiatsu and condensing it into certain shapes.

There are different difficulty levels for shapes, and candidates can choose based on their capabilities.

Unlike the Reiatsu test, which only allows one chance, the Kidō talent test offers three attempts, with the best result being recorded.

After explaining the Kidō talent test, the head examiner was about to announce the start of the exam when someone suddenly exclaimed.

"Oh my god, that's a Vice-Captain's armband!"

"A Vice-Captain is here, a Vice-Captain from the Gotei 13!"

"I know him! He's the recognized genius of the Seireitei, the Vice-Captain of the Thirteenth Division – Shiba Kaien!!!"
