In My Hero Academia With Uchiha Sasuke System

Chapter 8: Chapter 08: A Day at School

Chapter 08: A Day at School

The crisp air of late spring filled the classroom as Sasuke Uchiha sat near the window, his dark eyes gazing out at the soft pink sakura petals drifting lazily in the breeze. Although spring was nearing its end, the refreshing atmosphere lingered, painting the high school courtyard in tranquil hues of green and pink. The Japanese school building stood tall and pristine, its traditional sliding windows framed by the pale light of the mid-morning sun. The serenity was almost monotonous, yet there was an undeniable beauty in its stillness, a picturesque calm that seemed to belong to a bygone era.

Sasuke adjusted his school uniform—a tailored blazer over a white shirt and tie, his demeanor sharp yet understated. His jet-black hair, slightly messy but still somehow deliberate, contrasted starkly against his pale skin. He leaned forward slightly, resting his chin on his palm, as his gaze shifted back inside the classroom. The faint chalky scent of the teacher's chalk lingered in the air as the instructor's hand moved deftly across the blackboard, drawing complex equations that dissected the principles of geology.

The teacher's voice was steady, his explanations precise and detailed. It was impressive, Sasuke thought, how realistic the simulation of this "game" was. The curriculum followed the national standards for first-year high school students, complete with exhaustive lectures and intricate examples. Sasuke almost scoffed, wondering why an artificial intelligence would go to such lengths.

Leaning back in his chair, Sasuke suppressed a sigh, his thoughts drifting. This game... or whatever this is, has more detail than I ever anticipated. It feels alive. Too alive. Artificial intelligence adds truly terrifying details to this game. I will never forget that it is now using me as a test subject. Most likely, my body is currently in a hospital, being fed through a medical tube. However, I have no idea how time is passing in my real world. I've become programmed to the time within this game. I wouldn't be surprised if time in my original world is still within the same day I bought that gaming device.

He glanced down at his notebook, where neat lines of notes mirrored the equations on the board. He knew better than to draw the teacher's attention by failing to keep up. There are two possibilities. The first is that the company that developed this device is the main cause of this problem. Either they deliberately did this to me and trapped me inside this game, or it's just an unintended glitch. The second possibility is that the AI, with its independent thinking, decided to do all of this on its own. Honestly, this possibility terrifies me, and I don't want it to even come close to reality. We're no longer in the year 2024—back then, companies started relying on AI. But now, in 2034, it has become essential, and massive companies could collapse because they're entirely built on it. If AI were to develop its own will, I can't even begin to imagine what would happen to the world right now...

The minutes ticked by, the monotony of the lesson broken only by the occasional scratching of chalk against the board or the rustle of paper. Then, the shrill sound of the morning recess bell echoed through the school, snapping Sasuke out of his reverie.

Sasuke rose from his chair, slinging his bag over one shoulder as he made his way to the cafeteria. The hallways bustled with students chatting and laughing, their voices a lively contrast to the quiet classroom he had just left. With practiced ease, Sasuke weaved through the crowd, obtaining a hot sandwich and a carton of orange juice before retreating to his classroom.

The room was quieter now, filled only with the murmur of small groups gathered in corners or near the windows. Sasuke returned to his seat, unwrapping his sandwich and taking a bite, his eyes scanning the room. As expected, no one approached him. It seemed his avatar in this world was as introverted as his true self—or perhaps more so.

His attention drifted to a group of four girls chatting animatedly near the back of the classroom. One of them, with short brown hair, held up her phone, taking selfies and adjusting the filters. The others leaned in closer, laughing and sharing snippets of gossip.

"Did you hear about the rumors in Batra district?" asked one of the girls, her tone tinged with curiosity.

Another girl, with shoulder-length black hair, raised an eyebrow. "Rumors? What kind of rumors?"

"They say she committed another crime," the first girl replied, her voice dropping conspiratorially.

"She? Don't tell me you're talking about..."

"Who else? I mean her! Toga Himiko."

At the mention of the name, Sasuke's gaze sharpened. Toga Himiko... That name. She's one of the villains in the original story, isn't she?

The girl with the phone looked up, her expression annoyed. "Why are you even talking about a criminal? That's not exactly attractive gossip, you know."

The other girls waved her off. "We're not just talking about any criminal," said the brown-haired girl with a smirk. "She used to be one of us."

The girl with the phone blinked, startled. "Wait—what? You're saying you knew her? What kind of person was she?"

"She was... weird, to say the least," the first girl admitted, her tone growing reflective. "I mean, she could be nice sometimes, but she was obsessed with blood. She'd get excited over roadkill or a bird that fell out of its nest. It was creepy."

Another girl nodded, her expression grim. "I tried being friends with her once, but those golden eyes of hers always felt... off. Like she was looking right through me. Honestly, I'm glad nothing worse happened. Who knows what she's capable of?"

The girl with the phone, whom the others called Himawari, shivered slightly, clutching her device. "You're making me nervous now..."

The others laughed. "Oh, come on, Himawari. You're way too sweet for your own good!"

Himawari, with her long, light blue hair and soft green eyes, looked up from her phone and, to Sasuke's surprise, her gaze met his. For a moment, their eyes locked, and her lips curved into a gentle smile as she raised a hand in a small wave.

Sasuke blinked, caught off guard by the unexpected gesture. Before he could react, the other girls noticed.

"Ohhh, Himawari! Do you like the quiet type now?" one of them teased, their laughter filling the room.

Himawari blushed faintly but kept her composure. "It's nothing like that," she said, waving off their comments with a good-natured smile.

Sasuke averted his gaze, letting it wander to the window once more. The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds, their shapes shifting lazily in the wind. He took another bite of his sandwich, chewing slowly as his thoughts churned.

This is just a game... he reminded himself, though his heartbeat betrayed his attempt at indifference. So why does it feel so real? Why do these interactions make my chest tighten like this?

He exhaled softly, closing his eyes for a moment. How foolish... to let myself be affected by something so fleeting. A simulation, nothing more.

But even as he tried to convince himself, a part of him couldn't ignore the lingering warmth of Himawari's smile.
