in Russian Ukranian war with a system

Chapter 4: SOLDIERS FROM UNKNOWN BACKGROUND

(Captain Dmitri POV)

I was roaming the battlefield to see the general situation of the war and tell everything truthfully to my superiors when suddenly a lieutenant came and said that major had asked for me, and hearing that, I ran towards the command center and asked for permission to enter.

"May I enter the room, sir?"

"Yes, you may," came a voice, and after entering the room, I was shocked to see that the lieutenant colonel is also present here, and after seeing me, he said, "Captain Dmitri, we have a situation for you to handle."

"Yes, sir, please tell me, and I can do anything in my power to complete your orders."

"Dmitri, our satellites have found suspicious activity around Bakhmut. We suspect that it is Ukrainian troops who want to regain the area, and we want you to lead an advance party of 200 soldiers and check the situation. If there are really our enemies, then you are given the orders to engage with them, and if necessary, then you can also ask for support from us. Is it clear, captain?."

"Yes sir."

After giving a firm reply with a salute, I went back to gather 200 soldiers, which I gathered in just five minutes, and hit the road to Bakhmut. Firstly, I have to go to Klishchiivka village, which we conquered just one week ago, and from there, Bakhmut is 9 kilometers away and a 16-minute ride, but due to a large group and heavy army equipment, the time will be doubled to 32 minutes at the minimum and 36 minutes at most even with a speed march.

After hitting the road, we started to become more vigilant with each passing second since the enemy can be anywhere in this area, and the chances are even greater since we have just captured this area and we do not have enough control of the area to cut off any counterattack.

"Sir, I have a question for you?."

"Yes, what is it, lieutenant captain?.

"Sir, we do not even know who our enemy is and how many soldiers they have. It is very likely that they might outnumber us and we might die in this skirmish, but our superiors are throwing us like garbage so that some new garbage can take our place, and even if it is so important, they should have ordered the rear to send the soldiers and should not have weakened our numbers from the front line."

"Well, soldier, if you are so fond of asking questions, then you should not have gone for military training but politics or diplomacy training and then have asked this question to the leaders of different countries while sitting on a comfortable chair in a live broadcast for some TV's TRP, but since you have joined the army, then you do not have the right to ask questions; you only have one duty, and that is to follow orders, and also do not ask me opinions of my superiors today. If you are asking about them, then after some time you will ask some juniors about me. The army's foundation is strict discipline, and please do not dismantle this strong foundation."

"Sorry sir."

"It is nothing personal, soldier. Everyone feels fear, even me, but whenever I feel fear, I try to remember our army's motto of Russia Forward, and it motivates me to overcome my fear and move forward for our country, and I hope you will do the same thing."

"Yes sir."

"Well, there is still some time left before we reach our location, so why not discuss our war strategy?"

"Yes sir."

"Call another lieutenant, and we will discuss the plan now."

"Okay sir."

After five minutes, he came back with his comrade and sat in front of me in our army truck, and we started to discuss how to handle the situation and what the good scenarios were and what the bad or worst scenarios were.

"So first of all, I will discuss the top most good scenario, which is that they are friendly forces, and due to our inability not to identify them, the reason can be given that our superiors wanted to surprise the enemies, and by informing us, there is a certain chance that the enemy will get to know about them too, so they did not inform us about them."

"The worst-case scenario is that those are our enemy troops with the latest equipment and with more numbers than us, maybe ten times more, who somehow escaped from our satellites; probably they had hacked them, and their plan was to sneak past us and do a sudden attack on Moscow by which they can ask the president to come on the negotiation table, and the only reason we can see them is because they lost their control of our satellites. Now tell me, comrades, how should we handle this situation and which scenario is more likely to happen?."

"Sir, we have discussed this thing with each other, and we both reached the same conclusion that there is an 80% chance that those are friendly forces since hacking our satellites is impossible and 20% that they are enemy troops because the word itself said I'm possible."

"Nice conclusion, comrade. Now we just have to pay them a small visit and see which of the possibilities is good, but still we have to prepare for the worst, and for that, let's make a good strategy."

After five minutes we reached a strategy that first a platoon of 50 soldiers will be sent to check the situation, and in the mean time I will stay in connection with them with the rest of the troops from a safe location, and if there is any chance that it is an ambush, then we will hold defensive position and hold them off until reinforcements arrive, and then we will finish them off.

After some time we reached the destination and started to build defensively while I sent the platoon to be ready for a deployment, and after building everything, I called the young lieutenant from before and asked him to lead the army.

"Why me, sir?"

"I am sending it to you because you are best for it."

"Sir, I thought you would not give me command, thinking that I would run away from the battlefield."

"Lieutenant I was also very nervous when giving you the command, but as the saying goes, everyone should be given a second chance in their life, and after hearing this question, I am one hundred percent sure that you will complete my mission without any failure. You know, I was even expecting you to say that I am a coward who is staying behind."

"What are you saying, sir? After hearing your opinions, I am so motivated that I can enter enemy lines without any fear of death."

"Well, soldier, I think you should do your duty now since the situation is critical and we should not waste this time since we can catch them by surprise."

"Yes sir."

After some time, I saw them off, which could become their last battleground, and started to pray for them. After praying, I started to build a strategy of what to do next if they are hostile forces and how to counterattack them if the situation is on our side. I started to go through the ideas of force domination or control MSR (main supply routes), and when I was contemplating which one to use, suddenly my signal corps barged in my car, stating that he received a signal from the dispatched platoon.

"Fast give it to me."

"Here sir."

"Yes, boy, what is the situation over there?."

"Sir, we are seeing a white flag from them. I repeat, we are seeing a white flag from them."
