CH 7 - Day 9 of Spring
9th Day of Spring (Yes, you read it right)
7th Day of Spring
It’s already been a week since I came to this world.
It felt like time passed very quickly.
Well, I think that if you use it effectively for more than 15 hours a day and push your body hard, you might feel that way about anything.
The wake-up-sleep routine has been repeated for a week.
On the 7th day, when I earned 270 gold, the number of seeds purchased was approximately 600.
If there were too many, it would be difficult to plant the seeds, so I chose many crops with high value.
Fishing has reached Intermediate level 3, and the farming level has not changed.
All the crops collected on the 4th day (water parsley and sugar carrots) were counted the next day and became Farming Beginner level 1.
I planted the seeds diligently from morning:
200 muskmelons
75 cauliflowers
240 kale
150 garlic cloves
I smelled the soil and carefully covered the seeds, praying that they would grow well.
After that, I went fishing without fail in my spare time.
Good equipment appeared for the first time in the treasure chest.
A level 21 short sword, which corresponds to a weapon among the 4 basic weapons/accessories/shoes/armor that can be equipped.
It was definitely a thrilling experience to see a finished product appear without the need for separate production or refining.
After obtaining one more level 12 leather boots, the 7th day came to an end.
They say that luck comes on a lucky day, and I felt that was very true.
8th Day of Spring
Fishing earned me 300 gold.
Earned 13 gold from the treasure chest.
Fishing has reached Intermediate level 4.
I bought seeds with all 300 gold and used the rest to buy household goods and necessities, such as cooking utensils needed for cooking.
I planted about 700 seeds and went fishing leisurely.
Luck struck me one after another. I obtained level 20 leather armor and a level 17 ring.
The ring had a weak luminous effect and a protective effect that prevented minor damage.
Day 4 of intermediate fishing.
After about 50 hours of fishing, I was able to achieve the feat of filling all 4 spaces with equipment.
9th Day of Spring
A feeling of warming up the brain comes without fail.
Today, the feeling was particularly tense and stiff.
I tend to get out of bed almost as soon as I wake up with the mindset that I have to work hard, but today I was particularly restless and didn’t move.
Just thinking about the upcoming battle made my body stiffen.
The thought of holding a sword that I thought I would never hold in my life and cutting down a living thing made me a little distraught.
Even if you ask yourself if it doesn’t matter if you don’t do it.
Could the true ending be that convenient? Meeting all conditions inevitably involves combat and exploration.
If you avoid it, your desired goal will only run further and further away.
Moreover, the mine was an essential place more important than fishing.
Since I was fishing so hard, it made no sense to avoid the mines.
I bit my lip and made a small determination.
I have to do it.
I have to do it.
At best, there are only slimes and cave bats waiting for me.
If I’m a little unlucky, there’s a chance I’ll encounter skeletons or zombies, but it’s worth overcoming.
The power of the equipment I acquired has the ability to overcome that level of hardship as easily as jumping over a swamp.
The problem now is my own abilities.
Match-!
I returned from the shower, slapping my cheeks a couple of times, determined to calm my mind in cold water.
I put on clothes filled with the unique spring scent of sunlight and put on my gear securely.
A sharp shining short sword and a sparkling ring on my left hand.
Boots that fit comfortably on my feet and leather armor that feels quite thick.
I used the gold I earned overnight to purchase a lot of potions and food.
The price of the potion was quite expensive, but I bought it on the first day with tears in my eyes, thinking that it was special.
I felt sorry for the seeds that flew away, but I think they would understand since it was something that had to be done anyway.
This means that if you focus on one thing, you cannot see anything else and your field of vision narrows.
The words I picked up somewhere are now starting to make sense one by one.
Although the forest scenery was no different from usual as I walked, the field of view felt unusually narrow.
It was evidence that I was nervous.
The road to an abandoned mine.
I half hoped there wasn’t an abandoned mine there.
I kept walking, half hoping that there was an abandoned mine so I didn’t have to look for a place like an abandoned mine.
“Huh… There it is. There is a mine.”
Exactly the same location as seen in the game.
Approximately an hour of nervous walking, not sure if it was slow or fast.
We arrived at the entrance to an abandoned mine that was half-collapsed and gave off an ominous feeling that it might collapse at any moment.
grumble
The sound of crunching footsteps resonates with my sensitive hearing.
As I entered the rapidly darkening abandoned mine, the ring rang softly, spreading light in all directions.
I feel much more comfortable now that I have a short clock.
I held the handle of the short sword a little more firmly.
Compared to dungeons, mines tended to have fewer monsters, but that didn’t mean they didn’t appear.
Knowing that they would actually appear, the tension that came from not appearing for a long time was gnawing at my body.
I brought a lantern with me just in case, but it didn’t seem to be needed.
Since the range of light emitted by the ring was adequate, there was no shortage of things to do.
As I went further into the abandoned mineshaft, I encountered many abandoned things.
I just gave them a look and walked briskly.
I steadily moved forward, looking back once in a while.
In the end, I faced a downward slope.
I would enter a place called the first floor of the mine.
My neck and hands were shaking.
The sensation I feel when I swallow my saliva feels more sensitive than usual.
My hand, which was slowly seeping with sweat, tightly grasped the short sword.
The sword light shining sharply in the light of the ring really put my mind at ease.
Contrary to how nervous I was, nothing much happened on the first floor.
Except for the slightly stuffy passageway and the slightly uncomfortable breathing environment, it was quite bearable.
“Oh. Is this iron ore?”
Iron ore clumped together, mixed with various impurities, and slightly reflecting the light.
According to the information provided by the UI, iron ore was correct.
I took a deep breath and took out the pickaxe.
Crack-
Crack-
The pickaxe struck the iron ore with precision.
Is it okay if I hit you randomly? Even though I felt this way, the experience of being at a level 2 beginner led me.
A thick layer of dust rose up, and I continued my work, sweeping the dust away with my hands.
It suddenly occurred to me that it would be difficult for workers in mines to have their lungs intact.
The sound of whooping deeply permeates the mine.
Sweat drips from my forehead and falls to the floor.
Is it because of the stuffy environment of the mine?
Even though I haven’t worked for a long time, the tension increases and the fatigue doubles.
The pounding sound echoes once more in the narrow passage, tiringly irritating the ears.
The original goal was to raise the mining level, gain combat experience, and raise the combat level, but it was a very tiring scene from the start.
There is no iron ore that breaks easily after being hit a few times.
Only after hitting it dozens to hundreds of times using my whole body was I able to obtain the iron ore that was split into a dozen pieces.
Honestly, if you look at the results alone, it is nothing compared to fishing.
If you get the iron ingot from the treasure chest, you get the full value of this labor as a bonus.
Still.
Fishing does not guarantee experience.
Since I was in a position to master all skills one day, I smiled bitterly.
I silently moved to my seat without complaining out loud.
A mine covered in deep darkness.
I went around the first floor and saw a path going down, so I went to the second floor.
I went around the 2nd floor and saw a path going down, so I went to the 3rd floor.
Stamina increases rapidly.
Even though I am getting enough rest and eating regularly, the feeling of fatigue does not seem to go away.
I sat down on a stone and wiped the sweat that continued to flow from my forehead.
I took a refreshing drink of the cold water stored in my bag.
It was really fortunate that the ingredients stored in the bag were kept in the same condition as they were at the time.
Isn’t it one of the greatest pleasures to experience in this muggy situation, having a cool liquid go down your throat and feel the cold inside your body?
While I was resting like that, I saw a shape moving around near the border of light.
Green shape.
The trait of lying on the floor and procrastinating.
Something atypical.
It was a slime.
“Uh?”
My hand quickly grabbed the handle of the short sword.
An unavoidable tension lingered in those tightly held hands.
Some say it’s just slime.
For me, it was my first experience and the first real feeling of tension I encountered.
In the game, trees that can be easily cut down require a lot of ax cutting.
Mining also enjoyed the same experience.
What about combat?
I’m not sure.
Will this battle end if I just cut it with a sword?
Or, will there be a real ‘difference’ given in reality?
Going to find out now.
It’s slow.
It was a feeling that anyone could sense while watching slime.
The question of whether or not it was possible to physically hit something close to a liquid crossed my mind, but I didn’t have time to be consumed by such thoughts.
What I had was a sharp short sword.
I quietly approached the green glowing slime.
Eventually, when I stopped at an appropriate distance, I swung my sword strongly.
Kang-!
The aftermath of the first swing came to a bittersweet conclusion with a tingling sensation in my hand.
My entire right hand throbbed.
No matter how sharp a sword was, it was natural that it could not cut through the ground.
This is because I was unable to control the sword I swung so strongly that all of its force cut through the slime and hit the ground.
Frowning slightly at the pain, I lowered my posture and swung the sword again in a semi-horizontal form.
I saw the slime split in half with the first hit, but I couldn’t tell if that gave it rest.
…Ahh-
The pupils opened wide.
Did the slime scream?
The slime made a faint, unintelligible noise and dropped something jelly-like, which melted as if absorbed into the floor.
Does this mean that if a physical force is applied that exceeds the impact that the body can withstand, it will die?
Suddenly, I vaguely remember seeing that fact somewhere in the Starwind Valley encyclopedia.
[Slime Jelly]
The UI tells me that what fell on the floor is an item.
My tense shoulders suddenly relaxed, and a strange sense of relief came to me.
Battle.
It wasn’t as big of a deal as I thought.
It may have been because the opponent was weak, but there was no need to stiffen the body with excessive tension.
Although everything I had simulated in my head was not very useful, I felt very happy that I had successfully completed my first experience.
The pain of my hand throbbing from hitting the floor was still there, but it was clear that there was a slime core in my bag.
The journey continued similarly.
Mining.
Breathing in dust and venting your discomfort.
Recover your stamina by resting appropriately, and drink cool water.
Battle.
Kill the slime.
Sometimes bats also appeared, but they were fiercer and more aggressive than slimes.
Still, it wasn’t much different for these friends to die with a single sword strike.
It was pretty similar in the grand scheme of things, except that it was a bit tricky to fit.
Because the blood was pouring out, the fight wasn’t a big problem as long as you could avoid it well.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the battle.
So, we arrived at the 5th floor.
I smiled at the first sight of gold ore.
Although I came here to gain experience, it is natural to be happy if there is more to be gained.
I dug out the gold with a happy heart.
It was a necessary material for future enchantment and was an essential material used for alchemy and magic.
Yes, enchantment.
It was one of the things I felt keenly while working in the mine.
The fishing rod was of a high level to begin with, so I didn’t really notice that, but tools are basically used by upgrading (enchanting) them one by one.
Tool upgrades are based on materials obtained from mines.
Iron, gold, mithril, and the last rare metal suitable for the last specialized route.
The final tech of the tool is completed with the endowment of ether.
That’s why I’m happy about gold.
Stamina consumption was much greater than expected.
It’s only 4 PM now, but I’m half exhausted and don’t want to move.
Rather than not having the strength to move, it was closer to not wanting to do anything because my body was tired and worn out.
When you enchant a tool, the efficiency and effectiveness of your work increase, so it is natural that you can mine in the mine for longer.
This was a story that applied to all fields, including logging, farming, and construction.
The mine was an essential course to visit in order to obtain the essential elements for upgrading reliably and consistently.
After digging for gold, I passed through a passage full of mustiness and exited the mine.
The battle took place a total of six times.
3 Slime.
2 bats
If we met about one per hour, it wasn’t that many times.
Considering how nervous I was, I can say it was a great achievement.
Since I obtained a lot of iron ore and some gold, the purpose of going to the mine was achieved in a sweet way.
It was a successful journey.
I felt proud of that fact.
I felt like I was wasting the potion I bought without knowing it, but I hope I don’t end up using it as an insurance policy.
Because no one likes getting hurt.
It’s only 6 PM.
It was time to return home.
The sky was still bright, and the sun was shining brightly, but I was extremely tired like the first day.
The environment and workload were the same.
How can the work done in the yard of a house be the same as the work done in a mine?
There was a lot of dust, and the dirty clothes and equipment were thrown away in a lump and washed roughly.
The bed I threw myself into with a refreshing feeling quickly, without fail, sucked me into deep darkness.
