Volume 3 Chapter 16
16. Shocking Words
“Sister Xia Yi, are you ready?” The little girl asked in front of Xia Yi.
“Mm.”
Xia Yi nodded.
Now, she had long silver hair and a big tail behind her back, as if she had transformed into a silver dragon…
No.
She was originally a silver dragon.
In order to blend into the human world, the silver dragon used a transformation potion to change her appearance into a human. But in order to perform in the play, she had put on a costume, dressing herself up as a silver dragon.
This feeling made Xia Yi feel quite strange. How did she end up going in a circle and coming back to the start?
“Wow, Sister Xia Yi, you’re so beautiful. You’ll surprise everyone later!”
“Just like a real silver dragon!”
“The Silver Dragon Queen should be like this, very beautiful but also very naughty.”
The children surrounded Xia Yi, exclaiming in admiration.
Today was a bit different, as it was the Spring Breeze Orphanage’s open day.
On the Spring Breeze Orphanage’s open day, people from society could come to visit and observe.
And the children would also perform in front of everyone.
It seemed that this was a publicity event for the Spring Breeze Orphanage and a way to showcase the children’s welfare and treatment to society.
But behind this, there was also a deeper practical meaning.
As someone who had been through it, Xia Yi understood.
Some lucky children would be noticed and adopted by others, allowing them to leave the Spring Breeze Orphanage.
Especially being adopted by wealthy and powerful nobles, which would completely rewrite their destinies.
But now it had nothing to do with Xia Yi. She was just here to help.
Damn it!
Playing with the children was one thing, but she even had to perform in front of others… And the script was adapted from her most, most, most hated “Legend of the Sword Saint.”
Forget it, forget it. Just treat it as doing it for the children.
With this thought, Xia Yi felt a bit more motivated.
The performance was being held in the auditorium of the Spring Breeze Orphanage.
And many people from society who came to visit on the open day also entered the venue one after another and took their seats under the reception of the staff.
“This, this is too many!”
Xia Yi really didn’t expect that so many people would come.
If it were an open day in the past, how could there be such a number? And there were even quite a few well-dressed nobles.
She felt a bit dizzy.
“Sister Xia Yi, it’s almost our turn!” The little girl beside her reminded.
The boy playing the Sword Saint was full of confidence. “Next, I’ll show everyone the heroic side of Lord Sword Saint!”
Seeing the children so excited, Xia Yi couldn’t express her inner thoughts and mustered her spirit instead.
“Everyone, let’s do our best together!”
…
“Foolish human, is this the extent of your strength?”
Xia Yi, playing the role of the Silver Dragon Queen, leaned on the dragon throne, looking at the disheveled Sword Saint with disdain.
“How laughable. Let alone challenging me, you’re not even enough to be my pastime.”
As soon as she appeared on stage, she immediately captured everyone’s attention, and many people were attracted.
“That girl, is she also an orphan from the Spring Breeze Orphanage?”
“Silver hair really suits her. She’s really beautiful.”
“Her temperament is different from others.”
Among them, someone even joked, “I’ve seen many plays depicting the Silver Dragon Queen, but they were all poorly acted. Only this girl doesn’t seem to be acting!”
And that distinguished noble girl sitting in the audience opened her eyes wide, not saying a word, just staring at Xia Yi, completely ignoring everything else.
“Human, surrender early. I can still grant you a dignified death, haha!”
The child playing a dragon guard laughed loudly while gripping his weapon.
“Don’t even think about making me submit. I shoulder… the hopes of everyone!”
The boy playing the Sword Saint charged forward, swinging the Holy Sword and instantly defeating the dragon guard.
“Damn human!”
The guards beside him swarmed up, but the Sword Saint used his swordsmanship as if he were in a realm of his own, slaying all the dragon guards.
“Silver Dragon Queen, I challenge you! If I win, you shall never step into the human world again!”
“Hmph, human, you do have some skill. Since that’s the case, I shall unleash a bit of my power to deal with you.”
The Silver Dragon Queen stood up and walked down the steps while chanting a spell.
Xia Yi’s acting was simply superb, perfectly portraying the arrogance of a strong dragon.
“As a price for your provocation, feel the wrath of the Dragon King! Roar, flames of hell!”
“The Silver Dragon Queen is so powerful?! Ahhh!”
In the scorching flames, the Sword Saint couldn’t resist and fell.
At this moment, the children on the side shouted.
“Get up, Sword Saint!”
“Don’t forget your promise to everyone.”
“We will always support you!”
The Sword Saint opened his eyes with difficulty, gripped the Holy Sword again, and stood up. This time, the Holy Sword released a brilliant light.
“For justice and peace, I cannot fall here. I must respond to everyone’s expectations and bring victory back to the human world!!”
“Im-impossible! How can a mere human still stand up!” The Silver Dragon Queen’s face showed a panicked expression.
“Take this, Silver Dragon Queen! Sword of Victorious Hope!”
Just like in the previous script, the Sword Saint stood up as if he had cheated, released the power of the Holy Sword, and defeated the Silver Dragon Queen.
Xia Yi fell to the ground.
The narrator excitedly said, “The Sword Saint finally slew the Silver Dragon Queen and achieved ultimate victory!”
All the children cheered and celebrated enthusiastically.
Only Xia Yi, who had fallen, knew in her heart that such a thing was simply impossible.
Finally, amidst the applause, the play ended.
…
Xia Yi took off her wig and changed back into her usual attire.
“Thank you for your help, Miss Xia Yi. The performance was very successful, and the children are all very happy. Many people praised your outstanding acting.” Martha thanked her.
“As long as everyone is happy.”
Xia Yi had been very immersed in the performance on stage, so she didn’t pay much attention. But thinking back to those scenes, performing them in front of so many people was truly embarrassing.
She planned to bid farewell to the children and leave the Spring Breeze Orphanage.
Actually, being able to come back once and see that the Spring Breeze Orphanage was doing well was already very satisfying for her.
She should have left yesterday, but out of personal desire, she stayed until today.
As she was leaving the backstage, her gaze met that of the noble girl.
The noble girl looked at Xia Yi and walked straight up to her.
After seeing the family crest on the noble girl’s attire and the girl’s appearance, Xia Yi’s eyes were filled with shock. She never thought she would meet… her here.
The noble girl’s first words to Xia Yi were even more shocking.
“We want to adopt you.”
