Volume 3 Chapter 36
36. Opening Ceremony
Xia Yi looked slightly puzzled.
After all, Laurel Academy was considered the top academy in the human world, with a long history and an abundance of talent.
Who could be such a high-profile guest invited to the opening ceremony of Laurel Academy?
Norma said, “Let me keep you in suspense for a bit. Xia Yi, this is insider information, top secret! Not many students know about it yet.”
“That mysterious?”
“But I can give you a hint. He’s a true national idol.”
A national idol?
Xia Yi became even more curious.
Could it be that what she said before was right? Was there really an idol who excelled at singing, dancing, and rapping?!
“Come on, let’s hurry and get good seats. Stop chatting,” Norma suggested.
“Mm.”
Xia Yi nodded.
Then, she followed Norma to the auditorium of Laurel Academy.
Laurel Academy’s auditorium is very large and could accommodate many people. Usually, important academy events would be held here… It was said that during the academy’s anniversary, there would even be a grand party held here.
Laurel Academy’s anniversary was not long after the start of the school year.
Therefore, many new students would choose to attend and showcase themselves at the anniversary party to gain the favor of their seniors.
But that’s a story for another time.
“It feels like… a lot of people are looking at us.” Xia Yi muttered.
She could feel gazes from all directions on her… Some people were observing secretly, while others were very direct. Even after meeting Xia Yi’s gaze, they were not shy at all and even took the initiative to wave and say hello.
“Xia Yi, you’ve already become a celebrity at Laurel Academy.”
“Me?”
“Strictly speaking, you’re a celebrity among the new students. After all, no one else has managed to make Lia and Teacher Hill jealous over a blushing loli.”
“Huh?”
Xia Yi’s cheeks twitched.
“Wait, your wording is a bit off, isn’t it? That’s not what happened at all!”
“Although that’s true, gossip needs to be exaggerated to be interesting,” Norma grew more and more animated. “Now it’s getting more and more outrageous. They’re already describing you as a magnet queen who uses her cuteness to attract the same gender. They even dragged me into it, saying I was so enchanted by you that I voluntarily became your exclusive maid, turning it into a forbidden incest yuri love!!”
Xia Yi was completely speechless.
For a Sword Saint who was solely focused on swordsmanship and had no interest in romantic affairs, this was beyond her comprehension.
Even though she could understand the words, why did they seem so perplexing when strung together?
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am the student council president of Laurel Academy. At the opening ceremony of Laurel Academy, please allow me to represent the student council and other students in welcoming all new students to Laurel Academy!”
A dashing and handsome male figure took the stage, announcing the start of Laurel Academy’s opening ceremony.
Everyone’s attention shifted to the podium, which made Xia Yi feel much more at ease.
Next was the opening ceremony program.
The student council president, as a representative of the senior students, gave a speech… He briefly introduced the history and honors of Laurel Academy to all the new students, informed them of the academy’s basic rules and regulations, and offered his blessings.
In short, it was a very formulaic speech, with no flaws and no particular strengths.
However, it seemed that many people had developed a favorable impression of the student council president, likely due to his good image.
Next, the teachers from each major department gave brief self-introductions and short speeches to the students.
The teachers in charge of different departments had varying appearances.
The teacher of the Combat Department was a hot-blooded muscular man with a bowl cut. Xia Yi couldn’t remember the content of what he said very clearly… In any case, it was particularly passionate and enthusiastic, emphasizing something like “I have no regrets about my youth.”
The teacher of the Magic Department was a decrepit old man wearing a pair of reading glasses, speaking in a profound and unfathomable manner.
This was the main department teacher Xia Yi had chosen. She hoped that she could get along well with the teachers of the Magic Department in the future.
The teacher of the Swordsmanship Department was Hill.
Her appearance was quite striking among the teachers. As soon as she went up, the students’ cheers were particularly loud… It seemed that even students from other departments liked her very much.
In addition, teachers from other departments also introduced themselves.
Xia Yi was also considering whether she should take an elective minor, such as Alchemy… Relying solely on the Magic Department as her major might not provide enough credits.
After the teachers of each department finished introducing themselves one by one, a white-haired old man walked onto the stage.
Although the old man looked like he should be very old, he was completely different from the teacher of the Magic Department. Wearing a suit, he had an upright figure and swift steps, just like a man in his prime. His eyes seemed to hide a lion, full of sharpness.
“Who is he?” Xia Yi whispered.
Norma made a gesture, “Shh, he’s the principal of Laurel Academy.”
The principal?
Xia Yi remembered that when she came to Laurel Academy to give a lecture before, the principal happened to be out at the time, so she didn’t meet him. She only heard that the principal was quite old. Now she didn’t expect him to be in this unexpectedly vigorous state.
Someone who could serve as the principal of Laurel Academy must be extraordinary.
She looked forward to what the principal would say next.
The principal stood on the stage, his gaze sweeping over everyone. His deep and powerful voice echoed through every corner of the auditorium.
“Fight! Fight!!”
The new students all had dumbfounded expressions, while the senior students had solemn and respectful looks.
“Fight! Fight!”
Huh?
Xia Yi became even more confused.
But the principal only repeated those few words, forceful and with an almost hypnotic charisma.
“Fight! Fight!”
After repeating it three more times, the principal smiled at everyone and then left the stage.
Immediately, the senior students and teachers burst into enthusiastic applause.
“Thank you, Principal, for bringing us such a concise and brilliant speech!” The student council president said emotionally. “I believe that under the principal’s leadership, our Laurel Academy will only get better and better!”
No, what did he say?!
Xia Yi was completely dumbfounded.
But Norma had an expression of deep understanding, nodding repeatedly.
Xia Yi began to worry that this Laurel Academy might be a bit too bizzare.
“Normally, this would be the end of the opening ceremony, but… with the efforts of Laurel Academy, we have invited an important guest!!”
The student council president suddenly changed his approach, announcing this news to everyone.
“Let us welcome this guest!!”
Norma was almost jumping with excitement. “Xia Yi, the big moment is here!”
A person walked out from backstage.
This guest’s appearance instantly ignited everyone’s voices, almost causing the auditorium’s ceiling to be blown off. Everyone unanimously called out the guest’s name.
“How could it be…”
Xia Yi looked at the invited guest with an expression of disbelief.
