Chapter 944: Welcoming old friends
[Eon's POV: ]
It's been a while since we came back from the conference.
'Nothing much happened the past few days, but something fun was finally happening.'
-Oooooooooooong!
The portal in the garden glowed and the spiral of blue opened up inside of it.
Walked out were the newly engaged couple of our group, the poet and the critique.
"Welcome, sister Jan~!"
"Hey there, little monster."
Janet of Dolkan county and her partner Ginger were visiting today.
They were here to talk about their official engagement's invitation which would take place three weekends from now… We would all be back to the academy by then, but there was a break coming up at that time so we would have a bit of free time for a few days.
They set it on that day so that all of us including the people from the school and the people that they were inviting personally could come.
They weren't simply getting engaged, one of the important people of this world, the Harshest critique of many compositions was getting engaged.
It was also going to be a big event since her father and their family were so famous.
"Hello you two. How have you been?"
"Bright as morning birds, haha. We don't really have that much work to do anyway so we are chilling~."
Jan seemed pretty bright today, and since Quin was here as well, this was pretty much like a small reunion for the rest of us.
"Why don't we all go in first? Anna prepared tea for all of us."
"Yeiii~! Let's go in, sister Jan~!"
Jan gave Anna a lot of books the last time she came, and since she was some of the few people in this world that was pretty much connected with all artists of all kinds of fields, she had a lot of stories that Anna loved hearing.
She was interested in a lot of things, and the poems that Ginger wrote for her were one of them.
"You two work so much. I can even feel just how much you work, you know?"
"Don't say silly things, Jan. There's nothing like working a lot when you are doing what you are supposed to do.
Besides, aren't you on vacation? Shouldn't you take this time to write the pending reports that you are supposed to submit to the academy and to the various associations?"
She just got engaged recently but she had been with this guy ever since they were kids. It wasn't really a big thing that they were getting engaged, but she was spending most of her free time right now doing pretty much nothing.
'From the reports and letters I got from her father and mother, the two of them were spending most of their time playing around, doing things that they had not done until now, and the two of them even went on travels recently.'
They just got back home three days ago, the day before we came back from the conference, and now they are visiting us for the discussions regarding their engagement party.
"You're finally here."
"Aunt Aug~! Please look after them~! Sister Zoe and I will be right back with the refreshments~!"
Aunt Aug was known as one of the best organisers in the entire empire. She was well known among the nobles of the other countries as well so Jan was mainly here for her guidance and assistance.
"Come, sit."
Aunt Aug had her noble aura around her as always, something all of us respected.
"Greetings Lady Augustine."
"Ginger, polite as ever."
She sat down on one of the detached chairs beside the couch and the rest of us also sat down with them.
Rein was here, Zoe went with Anna, so Quin was left here.
The others weren't present since this was something that didn't really need their attention.
Mom, grandma and others were catching up with their work that was piling up in their absence.
Quin and grandpa Zhen looked after most of the things nicely, but they still had a lot of things that they needed to look after by themselves.
It was important work, so they were busy with that and the others were helping them with some of the things.
Jan, our friend, needed us here right now so we were helping her, and after finishing her work here, Aunt Aug would go and help grandma as well.
"Let's make it quick."
This was professional talk so She was not going to waste time with anything unrelated to the work.
"First of all, what will be the scale? How many people will be invited and what will be their background."
Her long red hair falling down her back, with her green dress complimenting her green eyes, she was sitting on the lavish chair with a pen and diary in her hand.
Her dress was attractive as usual, full of golden embroidery, and since she was working right now, she had also done her hair and put on some light makeup.
She was one of the prettiest women in the empire without makeup as well, but she was incomparable to most when she prepared herself.
"Hmmm… we are not going to invite many people from our side, but still, as father said, we should expect around three hundred people at the very least."
Anna was here with the tea, and since Jan liked muffins, I had made her the ones that she liked, just the way she loved it.
"Thanks dear."
"Ask for more if you want~."
Anna served the rest of us some tea as well and the sweets to compliment it.
'It wasn't right to make the muffins for just us, so I had already made a few hundred early in the morning for the rest of the people in the house as well.'
These ones were decorated with special dressings only that they were not anything special. But they were still delicious as all of us could tell from the delighted expression she had after her first bite.
"Mmm… heavenly as always."
She loved the taste, and Rein also liked the chocolate flavour so she finished one of the muffins by the time everyone else had taken their first bite.
"So…"
Jan was somewhat lost in the delight of the muffins so Ginger continued instead.
"There will be some guests of father Gerry, some state guests and some neighbours. Additionally, there will be some nobles that we are still in the process of selecting, but that would be it from the house's side.
I'm inviting some close friends only, but she is inviting some famous people that she is close with."
"That's right." Jan finished the muffin as well, and wiped her face spoiled with cream.
"The nobles aside, there will be some important guests that I will be inviting."
She asked Anna if she could get one more of the muffins and, Anna readily served her another one from the tray that she was pushing around.
"Writers with famous works, musicians, artists from other fields, mages and some foreign guests as well.
It might seem like a simple engagement on the surface, but it is going to be quite a big thing for those interested in the field of art."
She was acquainted with most of the world famous artists that were alive at the moment. The book that she had, the product of her Origin skill allowed her to keep a record of the entire life of the artist that signs inside that book.
She could not see it yet, but as a unique origin skill, the book records everything about that individual's life.
'A sign in that book pretty much means making one's name immortal.'
Even after one's death, the data of their entire life, their creations, and their name would still be present in this world.
'Leaving their name in this world was one of the greatest honours that one could have as an artist.'
It was information stored in the origin recorded by the nature itself. And, though she could not access that information herself, it has been proven that the person that is closely connected with that artist or someone they have chosen as their proxy could actually read through that abundant information.
"Hmmm. I see."
Aunt Aug wrote a few things in her diary, thought for a while, then looked at both of them.
"Any specifics you want in the party?"
She had seen their house, and she knew where the event would take place. As the organisers, there were a few things that they needed to prepare anyway, but with some more information from the couple in question, she could make their experience even more special.
"Yes, there's this thing I always wanted…"
They told her a few things that they wanted, and some things that were a little too complicated even for my Aunt, as we had decided already, would be taken care of by us.
"This is not the wedding, you two."
We did not think much about it when we got engaged. It was a surprise, so no one really knew about it anyway.
'It was pretty crazy to do it before almost the entire nobility of Roxanna, and even the emperor present. But it was fun.'
We would have to wait for a few more years before we can officially get married as per the dumb rules of the empire, but it was fine.
I needed some time anyway… but the same was not true for the two of them.
"We know, haha. But instead of waiting for three more years, it's better to just make this the same as a wedding."
As she said, it was better to just treat this as marriage.
They had been together for more than sixteen years now. They at least understood one another as much as Rein and I understood each other.
"Hmmm… I understand."
Ultimately, with Aunt Aug's help, they were going to have an amazing event anyway. But Jan was more relieved since we were going to help with things.
"Please take care of us."
"We will, Janny. Don't worry~." Rein was excited about this.

Both of them were our friends, but the plans they had for their official engagement wasn't something we could experience.
It was a little too abrupt and a little too formal for us, but now that she had the chance to help her friend with an actual official engagement party… She, as well as the other ladies of our little group, are obviously going to enjoy this.
'And us boys would enjoy it even more than them.'
A honourable member of our group was starting his journey on a unique path.
There was going to be turbulence, there were going to be problems, but as we know, they would face it together and hopefully overcome it like we do.
