Chapter 949 The underlaying plot
[Eon's POV: ]
"Dear students, We will be organising a festival in the name of the founding members of the great academy three weeks from now, that will have some similarities to the main official festivals that are celebrated during the various occasions.
In this festival, the academy will be inviting various important individuals who had graduated from the academy in the past to share their experience with the new generation and in addition to that, some special guests would be visiting as the judges of a competition organised by the Headmaster.
The details of the competition would be presented at the homeroom class today so make sure to not miss it.
Furthermore, there are some matters that the headmaster would be addressing regarding and unrelated to the festival in the evening, the venue for which is the general conference hall.
We request all the students to show enthusiastic interest in it."
As Tia read out for all of us, the announcement that was pinned on the forum was not too long.
It was precise though it did not give much information on the festival itself, but, one that knew about the academy festivals would at least know that this was going to be one hell of a welcome surprise for the rest of the students.
"Hmmm… three weeks they say."
That much was the perfect time for the students to get familiar with the new things of their new semester and get ready to return to their previous schedules.
It was logically the perfect time to kick start the new Sem for the students while at the same time, deal with some unnecessary individuals on this island.
[{ "I see where that bastard is going with this…" }]
[{ "But he's being too straightforward about this. They will obviously know about the festival and have countermeasures in place." }]
There were some unnecessary people on this island that we needed to deal with sooner or later.
There were also many people that needed to be taken care of who were only suspected to have any connection with those cultists.
'I knew he would deal with them on his own, he wanted to do it from the start anyway, but to organise a festival out of the blue just for that was not something that made sense.'
Academy was not famous for its grandeur or its excellent facilities but for the kind of learning it provided to the students.
There were only three festivals because those three were all that We needed aside from all the other events and things that go on in the academy on periodic bases.
"We will be having our first festival a month early, hehe~."
Many of our friends were happy to hear this news, and unlike a few of us who understood the importance of an academy festival, they weren't focused on the strangeness or the suddenness of the festival.
[{ "I think this is exactly what he's after Eon…" }]
The students around us who were connected with the people that were present at the Grand conference knew very well how some very difficult things happened at that conference.
And, apparently, a large part of the academy population were people of the high societies that were connected with those important people.
[{ "Are you saying he did that to actually confirm the suspicions of the cult about us knowing about them?" }]
The headmaster would know best how the students that were connected with those important people were not doing well.
They weren't connected with the conference directly but it was somehow affecting them, and their unconscious down states would affect the other students around them.
[{ "He might just be after showing Those bastards how he is concerned about his students. And you know what, unless they know him personally, they would buy this story." }]
They knew a lot of things and were advanced with their tech, but they weren't actually close with this particular person.
[{ "Oh… I see. Yes… that might just the case, Rein." }]
Since we know him personally, there are some things that we would know he would do in this kind of situation… Consoling the students with a festival was not one of those things since that would be going against the set rules of the academy that were more important to 'a headmaster' than anyone else.
They couldn't just organise a festival even if they wanted to, not an official one at the very least.
[{ "Right? They are just underestimating the craziness of our Amazing headmaster." }]
She really didn't like him, but she couldn't hate him either so she had already embraced their unique relationship.
[{ "I think the headmaster suspects that they know about the [Codes of conduct] for the headmasters and the individuals connected with the academy." }]
Not many people knew about it but there existed a certain document that every Headmaster of the academy had to follow and embrace with utmost respect.
These COC were very specific about a lot of things, there were many values that a headmaster had to have, and there were also many Ethical practices that the headmasters had to adhere to.
These Codes were a must for a headmaster of the great academy of hope… or at least, that is what was believed to be the case.
[{ "Hmm? The code…?" }]
The COC was not a restriction the headmasters had to worry about.
'Yes there were many restrictions on the headmasters, but COC was not one of them.'
This great document was created specifically for situations like these.
"A festival means decorations, lights, music, stalls, food, things, and people~!"
"A loooooooot of people~!"
A festival was a big thing by those COCs so they wouldn't think that the headmaster was doing this just because he wanted the students to have fun.
[{ "With the invitations and the special people mentioned in the notice, I believe there will be a lot of important people visiting the academy officially.
It would be once again like a smaller grand conference, and it would confirm that we are worried about them." }]
[{ "But, that's just the smokescreen…" }]
As we discussed in the Conference, we did not want to deal with those people directly. That's what they wanted us to do and it would create a lot of complicated matters.
There was a way to discreetly deal with those matters, and discussing something in a big Festival such as the one in the great academy would be exactly what they would believe we would be doing.
"Hahaha~. Headmaster is such a caring person~."
"We should thank him later~."
"That's right~! Quinny is right~!"
Quin was excited about this, and so was Tia and the others.
Even the people that were worried about the suddenness of this festival had realised the underlying 'secret' meaning behind this would let go of their worries and deal with what was before them.
[{ "He's smart alright." }]
Rein didn't like how he was able to think so far in such a short time.
[{ "He's the headmaster for a reason, dear." }]
There might be a deeper meaning behind this festival as well, we shouldn't be sure just yet.
After that stunt he pulled at the Conference, I doubt there is still something that he has planned that we have no idea about.
'This might be a declaration, this might be a smokescreen, it might be a diversion, or it might just be an invitation to those demonic cultits to come and mess with us.'
This one simple sounding festival might be anything we can think of or something even beyond our imagination.
"It's almost time for the classes, everyone."
"Right? How about we go and greet our teachers first and see what this competition is all about?"
Captain Alpha was back with one side of his face red.
He was also not speaking dumb things anymore so, this was better.
[{ "What do you think this competition might be all about, Eon?" }]
The smaller question was why he was doing it. On the opposite side, the uncommon question of why he was doing this specifically like this when there was no need for a competition in a festival of the academy confused me as well.
'But then again, there is always something unique to each of the festivals held in the academy.'
Be it a unique lecture from someone special, be it something related to special food stalls, presentations of something students made, or anything that could attract the attention of the general public present on the island.
"Hey, before that…"
This new festival and the 'competition' we're going to have is an interesting thing from our student point of view, but the fact that the previous graduates would be visiting is another big factor to take into account.
'And yes, all of us are looking forward to it.'
"Lucifer? What're we having for lunch today~?"
But just like Tia, they all were looking forward to my first lunch after the super long vacation even more than this surprise festival.
"It's nothing special today, we didn't really have a lot of time to prepare lunch so… Find more chapters on empire
There's only going to be some sandwiches, some curry and rice, a few salads, the condiments of course, ah… I made the cream cookies for dessert so that's one thing you can look forward to."
Be it this fairy friend of ours or Bell, or even Nova who isn't around often, all of them loved the cookies with various types of creams inside them.
'They aren't too healthy so I don't make them often, but whenever I make them, there's always a festive atmosphere around the lunch table.'
"Cookies~~? Are we really starting the new Semester with cookies~?"
Just like various ice cream flavours, they all had a unique kind of cookie that they liked.
"Come back Tia…"
She was happy.
We can tell she was trying to hide her anxiety and worries even though she was putting up a good act, but we didn't make it obvious.
'Just like many of us, she's worried about what's happening all around the world.'
She had a good perception. It wasn't difficult to tell she knew a lot more than many other students.
'But, she's trying to not concern herself with those little things.'
And for now, we were respecting her decision to ignore the matters that were too complicated for us children to understand.
'This was the right decision…'
But she was just coping instead of resolving things and letting them go.
Which wasn't good…
