Chapter 17: Royalty Dilemma
Draxus prepared his formal clothing and left the town of Beryll. He went towards the southern direction which is the capital city to visit a certain someone. Outside the town, he stretched his body around and prepared some magic. "[Crystal Groundwork]" Draxus then moved at a very high speed with the aim of reaching the capital within a few hours. Without taking a single break, Draxus arrived to the capital once again in sunset. "Reporting to the king isn't something I wanna do." Draxus went towards the castle while listening to music in his headset. The music that was playing was a certain trailer without the voice acting. "[Travail] really sounds calming." He climbed a rooftop and waited there until late at night.
As the time hit twenty-two o'clock, Draxus immediately created an ice path in mid air to enter the castle alone. He assumed that the king would be awake at that hour and decided to look for a suitable place to enter. As he arrived to the castle grounds, he continued moving deeper as he arrived to the outer wall of the castle. "Now then, where's a good place to enter?" Draxus pondered while wandering from the outer walls of the castle.
Inside of the castle, a young girl wearing light green pajamas was staring at the night sky from an opened window. She was patiently waiting out of boredom since there is pretty much nothing that she could do while in the castle. Her age was around in the middle of her teens. But in this world, she is already considered as an adult. A person knocked on the door which was heard by the girl. "Come in..." A single maid came in and gave her greetings to her. "Princess Olivia, I have come with some news. Unfortunately, I can't say that this is good news..." Olivia turned towards the maid that kneeled down to report. "It's alright, tell me." She showed a smile which was a mask that she used to hide her true feelings. The words that the maid brought out were words that she never wanted to hear. "The talks regarding your marriage have come up. The king tried to stop them but the persistence of the nobles pushed for it." Olivia who heard the unfortunate news kept the smile on her face and placed both of her clenching hands behind her. "Was it decided?" She steeled herself of the upcoming engagement between her and a person that she doesn't know. "Yes... The person that the nobles want you to be engaged with is one of the more powerful and young nobles. Duke Elliot Herlon Scatherion." Olivia's thoughts flooded her mind as she knew of this person. "Why him...?" Olivia was trembling from the painful thoughts. She was aware of the behavior of that person who gained power through underhanded methods. And she knew of the intent of that person who is trying to marry her. His age was a little over Draxus but he showed achievements that are commendable to their country. Because of that, he rose to the level of the Duke without much effort. The biggest part about that was because he was part of the party that Ulysses developed, and fought side by side with him. "We do not know the details, but I assume that it may be because of his power and ranking." The intent was clear as day, to have the prince assassinated and assume the throne. "I see... You may go..." The maid stood up and gave a greeting before leaving the room. After the door was closed, the mask that Olivia had, crumbled immediately. Tears were flooding from her eyes and her hands lowered down while clenching tightly. "Save me..." A small cry to be saved was let out. However, there was nobody that could ever hear it. When being asked to save, the first person that comes out was a hero. In each country, there is always one hero among them. Yet, the name which Olivia sought was not the hero. "Draxus..." She called out to him as he was really close to her despite being someone even more powerful than the country's hero Ulysses. The cry that wasn't audible to anyone continued on, but it was interrupted completely. "Good evening, Princess Olivia." A soft wind came from the window that was behind her, causing Olivia to instantly turn her gaze as the voice was very familiar. There she saw the figure of a young man with formal white clothing, a cerulean jacket with fur on the hood, and white jeans that resemble the ice and snow sitting on the window. But what had taken her attention was the white headphones the person wore and the cerulean eyes that glowed under his shadowy figure. "D-Drax..." with a halting tone, she stood up and turned around to the person that she knew. Draxus, stepped into the room lightly and hugged her. "It's okay, tell me who hurt you..." The gentle voice came into her ears while Draxus was having very dangerous thoughts. "I'll hunt that person down." But those words never came out of his mouth. He simply caressed her head gently as Olivia hugged him and planted her face on his chest. "Draxus..." While brushing her hair, Draxus started humming a piano piece that he remembered. The music was different from any other piece that he referenced. This time, it was from a famous pianist and composer. After a while, Olivia finally calmed down and called out to Draxus once more. "Hey..." Both of them were still hugging each other as they talked. "Draxus... Umm..." Draxus stared at her while showing a calm smile. "What is it?" He brushed her hair gently while replying. "Can you get me out of here...?" Draxus was a little surprised with the sudden question. However, since it was a request from somebody close to him, he easily complied. "Where do you want to go?" Olivia smiled while having a bit of red in her face. She piled up the determination and her wish to get out from the subject of political marriage. "Anywhere..." She looked up to his eyes which got him a little surprised. "As long as I'm with you..." From those words, Draxus blushed a little from the determination and confession that was unthinkable of a fifteen year old girl. "Very well, I shall take you with me forever, Princess Olivia Yuriel Quisterion. I, Draxus Heimdal, disciple of Serkyrio Kaiser will protect you." At that point, Draxus Heimdal, and Olivia Yuriel Quisterion, fell in love with each other.
Draxus and Olivia sat down on the bed next to each other while talking about the things that happened. Olivia pouted a bit after hearing what happened on Draxus's side, which Draxus immediately reassured her with his position with the new friends in Beryll. However, after hearing Olivia's side, Draxus's expression turned grim immediately. "D-Drax...?" Olivia called out to Draxus worriedly and immediately shivered as she heard his next words. "Should I ask Serkyrio if I could wipe off the country from the ma- Wait... I can't have that since Ulysses is a good guy... Not that Serkyrio would allow me with the same reason anyway.... Ah! My bad! My thoughts started leaki-!" Upon seeing Draxus panic, the tinge of fear that was on Olivia immediately disappeared, letting her chuckle. Draxus who saw her chuckle released his tension from his body. "You sure can be evil despite being so kind to me." Draxus simply smiled and gave a reply. "Of course, despite how kind I am to many people, there is always the evil side peeking out when an enemy shows up." The two continued their talk and their plans until midnight. Both of them ended up sleeping together on the same bed after a long night of talking.
The next morning came where the hero Ulysses felt another presence in the room of the princess. He entered the room without a sound and noticed Draxus and Olivia sleeping peacefully together. There were many retorts that came to his mind but there was only one that came out from his mouth in a mutter. "Where's Remuel when you need him...?" He then left the room while smiling as he can feel rest assured to leave the princess to a person he thought of as [Prince of Glacial Ice]. Draxus woke up a little bit after Ulysses left the room. He gave the sleeping princess a kiss on the forehead before getting up to find the king. While doing so, he sent a message to Keith's phone telling him to inform Crystel from the luxurious inn in Beryll that he'll be late or staying another day at most. Draxus found the king while walking down the hallway. He called out to the king casually and started walking briskly. "King Oscar!" The king, who heard Draxus turned his gaze to him. "Ooh! Serkyrio's disciple? What made you come here? It's not even a week since you left the castle." Draxus simply smiled and asked properly. "Do you have time now? I have something to discuss in private." The king turned his gaze to the two people that are accompanying him. According to him, the two people were the leaders of the royal magician and the royal guard. "Very well, let us talk to one of my private rooms. After some time of walking, they arrived to the room where they discussed the world history. "So, what brought Serkyrio's disciple here?" Draxus crossed his arms and started thinking. "I'm having suspicions of corruption in the town of Beryll. I witness some barons trying to take possession of valuable goods for cheap from various merchants. They even tried to forcefully take my headset." The king started brooding as if he was bothered by something. "First... Weird rumors about you guys... Then the marriage which was being forced to Olivia... And now corruption from the other towns...? There's too much going on at once..." Draxus immediately apologized seeing as this might not be a good time to add more problems to the king. "No no, it's fine..." The king clapped his hands twice. A person in black clothing dropped down from the ceiling and landed gracefully. "Secure information in Beryll. Find evidences of embezzlement and arrest the nobles who are forcing civilians to sell their important wares for prices far below the market price." The person who was given the command immediately moved out. "Now that we can deal with that easily, it's just the marriage which is a more problematic thing now... The rumors can wait..." The king started pondering and asked some suggestions from Draxus. "Sir Heimdal, what do you think of the situation...?" Draxus received the explanation of the king that had people aiming for his daughter and the throne and let out some suggestions. "The possibility of the prince being assassinated is high. But it should be alright if Ulysses is always around him. However, for the princess..." Draxus turned away his head while pondering for a little bit. "I have stopped the nobles for now... But I can't hold them on the line forever. I have to let go of Olivia even if she becomes a sacrifice for the country's betterment." Draxus turned his gaze back to the king with a serious face. "In that case, leave her to me." His suggestion shocked the king but gave him the hopes. "That's possible... Seeing as you're stronger than Ulysses then having someone like you marry her..." Draxus raised his hand a little while giving a reminder to the king. "I'm not allowed to take a position on this country, but I will definitely protect your daughter for the rest of her life King Oscar." The king pondered for a bit more and let out some questions. "What about your position? There will definitely be nobles that will never agree to this decision." Draxus simply smiled and took out his phone. "How about we do an emergency conference with everyone?"
