Isekai: The Eight Soul Fragments

Chapter 267: Castle Life

Audrey, was currently in front of Serkyrio's office. Joining her, was Keith, Jevil, and Wesley. The four of them were debating on who would knock and who would ask Serkyrio, when Serkyrio came out of the room himself, Audrey decided to be the one to ask him. "Umm... Emperor, can we borrow the courtroom?" "What for?" "Draxus apparently has had done it with a minor." "Oh you mean Olivia? It was a matter of time, just don't tell Arlesk or Remuel, I don't want him to be complaining against me. Also, the laws from Earth regarding age and adulthood does not apply here, in this world, adulthood starts at 15." "We just want to bully Draxus." "Why do you sound so proud of messing around with Draxus, it's like you're saying: Hey guys, I'm about to give Draxus a fisting session." The vice chiefs started laughing wildly on Serkyrio's joke. "Well if you all want to bully Draxus in court just check the schedules if there's any free time." With Serkyrio's approval, the four vice chiefs left while preparing to make their case.

Draxus is currently in the Hall of Sentinels, he was accompanied by Remuel and Josh. The three of them were talking about some games that have come up. "I have bought some good starter decks from the new TCG." "TCG? Ugh... I'm not really good with these kinds of games." Draxus instantly complained as he didn't want to be doing much games that take up too much time. "Wait Draxus, you don't know how to play TCG?" Josh was shocked, as Keith had described Draxus to be a gaming monster, being great at almost every game he played.

Draxus and Josh were already tolerating each other, as both having been victims of Gayle's control, they were able to talk things out and get things straight. Josh did challenge Draxus to a series of games and had been defeated spectacularly in most that he challenged him with. "Yeah, it's just that I always keep forgetting the rules. I played Vanguard with Remuel like twice, and I got destroyed, and destroyed him one." "Hey! I was playing with a handicap!" Remuel was not impressed with how Draxus had said that he had stomped him for one game. "But yeah, since this time we have many starter decks, which one you going for?" Draxus and Josh picked their starter decks and played with Remuel acting so he could explain the rules for both of them.

Although the game between Draxus and Josh was going fine, Remuel was not fine. "No!! Don't fold them like that! The value!" Remuel was dying inside with how the two are playing the cards. The table they used was glass, so Remuel offered to let them borrow mouse pads so they could play on cloth. But the whole time, Remuel was having various complaints with how the two were handling the cards.

The TCG game ended with Draxus barely winning with one health. "Hmm... Could've gone either way, but I had my ass saved by those heals..." "Yeah, well it's first time so we can't really do much." In reality, both Draxus and Josh won as they learned something, while the only one who lost was Remuel who is now dying inside after what the two did to his cards.

Olivia was walking around the castle when she had a peculiar encounter. "Miss Gayle...?" Gayle stopped on her tracks instantly and turned around, spotting Olivia who seemed to be unsure on what to say. "Mm... Need something...?" Olivia, taking notice the lack of people going around the hallways, took an opportunity to ask information from her. "What happened between you and Drax?" Gayle sighed in her mind, as she knew that Draxus' fiancés would be curious about what their relationship was in the past. "The two of us had already put our past behind us. We wouldn't really want to bring it up again." "I see... What are you two now then?" Gayle pondered for a bit, as if trying to hide something from herself as she had her scythe with her. "We're just working together." Gayle didn't look at Olivia's eyes, which made her curious, but with Gayle seemingly not want to interact too much, she decided to give it up for the time being. "I'm under a contract with Draxus, where both of us cannot say anything about what we do until it is expired... Heard it's called an NDA? Non-Disclosure Agreement... If you ask him, it's the same." Olivia, after hearing Gayle's words, then left after thanking her for a bit for talking with her. Now that Gayle is all alone, she sighed again. "Draxus really has grown huh...?" She didn't look annoyed, nor anything more, she just continued watching through the window from the hallway.

Arlesk was in the town area, and was looking around to see if there's anything new as he was completely bored. After some time wandering around, he found Jacquinn and Harold playing chess in the entertainment district. "So you two are over here?" "We didn't really have anything else to do, Serkyrio had awakened both of our capabilities completely. Harold can now make use of simulations to bring us into inescapable dimensions and make us fight eldritch horrors, while I'm now able to phase around through metaphysics and pataphysics, along with the universe's flow. However, even with our full awakenings, we still somehow lose against Serkyrio." "Huh? How?" Arlesk was surprised with Jacquinn's statement, despite their awaking, they still couldn't hold a handle against Serkyrio. Harold then asked Arlesk about something. "Arlesk, you've read [Dark Tower] right?" "Yeah, I've read that." "Serkyrio asked me if he could use [Dark Tower's] [Gan] as his opponent, to which I was shocked because that's practically challenging things beyond right? Well he won against that, even monsters from [SCP Foundation], [Cthulhu Mythos], [World of Darkness] he didn't seem to have much trouble either. He fought all my best copies of the most powerful beings that we've read, and he won against all of them, in one single simulation run." Arlesk stepped back on instinct. He wondered just how much power does Serkyrio truly have as he had read most of the books in the library that revolve around those. He then remembered being decimated by Harold's summon of SCP-682. "If you keep thinking about it, just say that it's a Serkyrio thing..." Harold had already given up on trying to find a way to beat Serkyrio. Jacquinn and Arlesk felt the same, as from the number of times they have fought, against him, they always looked close as if Serkyrio was purposefully leaving them a chance for them to win. Having Serkyrio fight at full power would easily mean destruction for the entire world.

Back in the castle, Layla encountered Pauleen and Juniper, who were discussing about how things are now currently. "Hello." Layla was slightly formal, which surprised Pauleen and Juniper for a moment. "Ah Layla, how is Keith now?" "He's doing alright, what were you two talking about?" Pauleen and Juniper then explained to her that everything turned out okay. "Lawrence, Tiffany, and Aaliyah returned to Earth for a break, and it seems like everyone is doing much better now. Draxus and Josh seemed to be at least not at each other's throats." Pauleen remembered how things were at the start. Draxus and Josh would always enter arguments, with Josh challenging Draxus to a duel in some game to show off, only to fail miserably. Draxus was getting somewhat tired with constantly having to deal with Josh, but eventually the arguments became less and the two started to converse normally. When Pauleen asked Josh about Draxus and his capabilities, he was somewhat afraid with how Draxus could make use of everything almost effortlessly. Keith had suggested to him to try the Simulation Room Training, which somewhat terrified Josh before he was tested as Keith seemed to have a dead smile, as if inviting another victim into the mix. After having tried the Simulation Room Training by Harold, he was also deeply traumatized now. "Recently, Josh was talking to Draxus about expounding the limits of abilities. It seems he wants to learn a lot more about his own capabilities." "I guess its because of the Simulation Room... I'm wondering why Draxus wouldn't let us go through that kind of training yet?" Juniper was somewhat confused as they were not allowed to take the Simulation Room Training. Draxus in particular would stop them, his fiancés will a full grand speech trying to convince them not to do it. "Oh right, Keith also told me to not take the Simulation Room Training Sessions, I wonder why they don't want us to train that way." The three of them continued to think about why their friends wouldn't let them take it. "We could ask Audrey. She took the Simulation Room Training after all."

Everyone in the castle was living pretty much normally...
