It’s not that kind of malicious broadcast

Chapter 5

Chapter 5. I’ll Wait for You

I easily got bored with any game, but KoK was different; the more I played, the more I was sucked into it.

If someone were to ask me why KoK was a great game, I could have gone on endlessly explaining. Even though there were endless issues that turned it into a broken game… well, that’s a problem for another day. KoK was well-known for its various elements mixed together in a complex way – with deep elements but a casual entry, making it a game that anyone could enjoy.

Even at the time of its release, it received praise for embodying the strategy of ‘you’ll like at least one of these’ in the game. Even from my perspective as someone who experienced all the ups and downs of its success, I could partially relate to that.

When knights met in siege battles, it was as exhilarating as a fighting game. Watching the opponent’s movements, predicting attacks to parry, and landing critical hits provided a sensation and thrill that words alone cannot fully describe.

Playing as a mage with wide-area magic, crowd control abilities, and decent damage, I could feel the omnipotence of instantly changing the flow of the battlefield.

Even playing as an archer, known for dealing the highest damage from a distance and being the so-called ‘sniper’, sniping enemies from afar was just as thrilling as with any other character. Watching enemies cower behind shields like turtles, unable to move properly, only showering praise in chat, doubled the enjoyment.

There were priests for those lacking skill, weak-willed, or not particularly virtuous, poorly designed characters, but… those things didn’t matter. It was for those who excelled in psychological warfare, had a great grasp of the game as a whole, could find key points to win the game, adapt to variables in the ever-changing situation, and design game flow from the ground up.

Rogues, capable of overturning the game’s dynamics and providing corresponding fun, were at the core of KoK.

There were cases where people didn’t understand the true value of rogues. It can’t be helped. There are people in the world who can’t play games… unfortunately, it’s not a crime. Even so, it would be best not to spread misinformation to others.

“Hmm…”

For example, like the nonsense currently posted on the best thread in the KoK forum.

『Author: Yadojot』

『Title: Reasons Why Rogues Are Trash』

『If you’re a KoK user, you probably already know that rogues are trash, but surprisingly, rogue fanboys still pop up occasionally in the lower tiers.

I’ll explain in detail why rogues are trash for the newbies, so please, never play as a rogue again.

First of all, a rogue’s basic stats are flawed. The rogue has lower attack power than a holy knight, lower health than a mage, and lower defense than a warrior. Pretty much garbage, right?

So, do they have ranged attacks or something?

Of course not.

Surprisingly, the rogue, whose stats are trash, has the shortest attack range for his main weapon (dagger) among all existing characters.

“Why not just throw the daggers then?”

Well, this guy only has 2 daggers, so once he throws them, he’s unarmed until he picks them up again—no main weapon.

By the way, in this sorry state, the rogue is supposed to be a tool for opening treasure chests.

So after throwing the 2 daggers, he’s left unarmed. Gotta resort to fisticuffs.

“Oh, but if you invest in the dagger support tree, you can carry up to 3 daggers, right?”

To take that trait, you have to give up half of your attack ability, and then you wanna go around throwing daggers or what?

With a range four times longer and infinite ammo like an archer, why would anyone opt for dagger throwing as a rogue over an archer?

At this point, the rogue is in the game just for the sake of having a rogue in medieval fantasy games, but the game advises not to play this character.

But here’s the problem: this damn game went out of its way to give the rogue that one passive.

Practically, only rogues can open treasure chests in the underground attack zone. Opening a treasure chest means you’re guaranteed rare or better items, sometimes even mythic items, and it’s a thrill to carry as a rogue—I get it.

But while rogues are busy opening treasure chests, warriors are wiping monsters, leveling up, and ganking the top lane.

So when rogue enthusiasts are like, “Just hold out for 10 minutes, open the chests, and I will carry you”, playing their own RPG game within the game, their teammates are losing 6:5, calling gg. Even the rogue bugs hide and run away if they encounter a Holy Knight or an Archer in the underground, let alone a Warrior. They don’t even bother properly opening the treasure chest when they do manage to find one.

So what’s the point?

They’re just trash without any passive skills or proper equipment.

Those who engage in such behavior are definitely lacking something.

I hope Paradise Games will eliminate rogues to cleanse the 8 million player base from frustration.』

– ㅇㄱㄹㅇ

– Best post ever

– Those who steal must have their heads cracked open for real

– I think I’ll have difficulty breathing if a rogue is picked for our team, seriously

– Those who steal in Bar Alleys are all amateurs, seriously

– Can mages and archers also open the chests?

– It takes a lot more time, and there’s a chance of the chest breaking, so it’s not worth it

– Think about what the enemy mages and archers are doing during that time

– The whole reason these buggers go after the chest = because they’re worth close to nothing

From one to ten, it’s all nonsense. If you try to rebut, it’s mind-boggling where to start pointing out the flaws.

Still, I can’t just leave it be. As someone who isn’t a regressionist, there might be an obligation to enlighten the ignorant masses who fall for such nonsense.

Fingers flying over the keyboard, I read through the text filled with ignorance and prejudices that even impairs one’s vision by just reading.

Yeah.

As a pioneer who first realized the importance of rogues, it might be necessary to point this out for the budding rogues.

『Title: How Do Rogues Beat Warriors Underground?』

『Ripped out the H key on the keyboard? (I really don’t know)』

– H key?

– I saw someone trying to win a mission with H key on the keyboard last time, must be a secondary skill, rogues have stealth, right?

– Where are the keyboard-playing gamers at

– Haha, there are really all sorts of idiots out there.”Is the average for KoK the same?”

– Stealth? Is that the moronic skill where you have to stand still for 2 seconds when you activate it?

– Fact, even in Stealth mode, trying to stab a Warrior with a dagger from behind only scratches off 25% of their health and leaves their head a mess.

– Which rogue even picks a fight with a Warrior in the dungeon? lol We need tiers displayed next to comments for real.

– Ddamnak: Rogues don’t fight with Warrior, Holy Knight, or Archer in dungeons because looting treasure chests during downtime is more profitable. A rogue never loses if they fight properly in the dungeon.

– ???

– What lol

– So, how much health does your damn rogue scratch off the Warrior before dying?

– Damn lol, well, looting boxes must be more profitable than looting bodies.

– Ugh, seriously, when will bans be enforced in KoK? I predict a 95% banning rate for rogues.

– Oh, just the thought of having a player like that on our team makes it hard to breathe, really.

Following the enthusiastic response, a particular comment caught my eye.

– That attention-seeking rogue always baiting aggression, what are newbies falling for? lol

– Exactly.

– It’s ironically these kind of players who never pick fights with rogues. lol

– True lol, if they encounter a rogue, they dodge faster than anyone else.

– I guarantee this rogue hasn’t even played one round. The best rogue player who immediately logs off after encountering a Warrior in the dungeon;

– If this player loots two boxes against a Warrior, I swear I’ll go naked in-game and authenticate it.

– They won’t even loot one, what a joke lol

Ah.

I can’t stand this one thing, though. It’s fine that Dodat is praised as the best rogue player. I also enjoy Dodat’s broadcasts. I mean, the insinuation that I can’t play rogue… I mean, I’ve dabbled in it occasionally.

The nonsense about a Warrior defeating a rogue in the dungeon… well, they say KoK still lacks skill.

However, I can’t stand the pledge to loot naked.

I got up from bed with damp sheets and turned on the computer.

『Title: Come see the guy who said he would play nude earlier』

『Custom dam12/dam12, I’ll wait for you.

Show up… got it?』

–     Oh.

–     This dude always runs away with his tail between his legs, he’s probably hiding again.

–     Is this that punk, GetDevoured?

–     Who the heck is that jerk?

–     There’s a loser rogue on the broadcast who always gets targeted.

–     Isn’t he in the Diamond league or something?

–     Probably just shuttling between Master and other ranks.

–     Trying to catch a weak Silver Warrior and act tough, can you believe it? Disgusting, right?

–     Real LOLOLOL What even is the meaning of a Master beating a Silver Rogue?

I don’t write posts or comments on the forum that often. To some extent, there were people who recognized me.

However, the accusations were somewhat unfair. I was just hanging out on the forum for a bit, not planning to stay there to debate until someone made a final judgment.

There were times when I had to go play games thanks to Ark offering viewer participation opportunities, or when I hastily logged in to watch Dodat’s broadcast… I couldn’t remember all the details, but surely there must have been their own reasons for doing so.

Perhaps there might be a need to clarify the insinuation of me diving under. I might have to write a post about it later.

Anyway, unintentionally, thanks to the small amount of fame I received, more than 20 people flocked to the custom room I had set up in an instant.

Sadly, they all seemed to be watchers coming down, and it didn’t seem like the hopeful dodgeball players were coming yet.

– Huuuh.

Had they overdone it with three cans of beer? Yawning, drowsiness started to creep up on them. They wanted to finish the Rogue Revival Movement quickly and go to bed.

As they pondered whether to leave a provocation on the forum again, at that moment…

『Gwangjil has entered the chat room』

『Gwangjil: Stop avoiding weak Silver Warriors and come face me?』

… Oh.

Unexpected turn of events.
