Jing Xingzhi’s Daily Life in Ancient Times

Chapter 36 - II

Jing Xingzhi was afraid that Wu Qing would come up to give money, so he worriedly told him: “Chief Clerk Wu, please remember not to give money to the Tan family; otherwise, you will be considered as us bribing witnesses.”

Wu Qing hated that iron cannot be made into steel: “Okay, I remember.”

When Wu Qing heard what Jing Xingzhi said, he simply waved his sleeves and decided not to care!

The junior brother wasn’t in a hurry, but he was too anxious. Anyway, he was good at flattering people.

After leaving the cell, Jing Xingzhi and others sent Chen Fulang home first and told him not to go to Tan family’s house these days. If he really wanted to see Tan Xingwang, just asked someone to go to the medical clinic to find them.

There was no need to send him to the Tan family to be humiliated.

Chen Fulang smiled sadly: “I’m not going again, what’s the point?”

Jing Xingzhi glanced at him and said, “We still have something to do; let’s go first.”

Chen Fulang watched the young master and his group left, then turned around and entered his house, then weakly slid down the door and sat down, burying his head between his legs. His usually thin but strong shoulders were shaking non-stop at this moment.

.

After leaving Chen Fulang’s residence, Wang Zhuang couldn’t help but ask:

“Young Master Jing, what should we do next?”

“What are we going to do next… are there any delicious restaurant nearby? Let’s go and eat first. Then we’ll take a look to my teacher and go back to the academy.” Jing Xingzhi felt he was hungry; he was so busy with things, and it was time to eat.

The Yin Gathering Formation on Wang Xiang’s cell door was more ruthless, so it was almost certain that Wang Xiang would retract his confession at the next trial. At that time, the most critical link was broken.

Even if Tan Xingwang wanted to plead guilty, it would not make sense, so the government could only re-investigate.

Furthermore, Jing Xingzhi also tampered with Tan Xingwang. He didn’t believe there was a man that could endure a series of ‘someone sleeping with your wife, beating your wife, torturing your wife, and beating and abusing your wife’s children.’

If Tan Xingwang really could endure it, Jing Xingzhi would intervene to break up Tan Xingwang and Chen Fulang, who might get together once the man was out.

To be honest, Jing Xingzhi could also guess what Tan Xingwang was thinking.

Maybe it was because Tan Xingwang was adopted, and the turmoil he had when he was a teenager showed his inner uneasiness.

But after that, even though he became sensible, was he really at peace with himself?

When the Tan family’s parents had a young son, it was inevitable that a bowl of water would be uneven. He could only say that Tan Xingwang might felt the same but he really hoped that everything will be the same, but it was impossible.

Therefore, Tan Xingwang definitely wanted a home of his own.

However, Tan Xingwang never thought that being in the Tan family meant more than just enjoying their resources. He had also worked hard for the Tan family for several years, laboring on the dock and even attaining a small boss position.

He had started when he was ten years old, and now, a decade later, he couldn’t ignore the fact that all his earnings had been contributed to the Tan family.

If he were the younger son of the Tan family, his parents wouldn’t be willing to let him remain unmarried even at such an advanced age.

Jing Xingzhi felt that this might not necessarily apply to the second son.

The deceased individual, Young Lady Qi, was someone Tan Xingwang knew and had gotten along well with during his childhood.

This kind of person held a unique significance. Although Tan Xingwang felt a lot of guilt for the deceased, but it didn’t surpass his inner gratitude for the Tan family’s upbringing.

The Tan family had essentially given him a life. He felt indebted, believing he owed them his life, so sacrificing for them made him feel that his sacrifice was worthwhile.

Jing Xingzhi could understand this kind of foolish filial piety as an outsider, but he didn’t agree with it. Such blind devotion, he believed, would leave the person unchanged even after such an experience, making them hopeless.

Wang Zhuang couldn’t comprehend how Jing Xingzhi’s method would work. Feeling that Jing Xingzhi had done nothing, he asked, “We’re not going anywhere else; should we plan for tomorrow?”

Jing Xingzhi looked at him and, touching his slightly plush chin, said, “Let’s do this. Arrange a few people to enter the cell, ensuring the safety of Wang Xiang and Tan Xingwang. Pay attention to their diet and avoid poisoning. If there are any other discoveries, report them to me, and I’ll monitor the progress.”

Wang Zhuang was finally content with his role and took Jing Xingzhi to eat.

After a satisfying meal, Jing Xingzhi packed another meal for the patient in the restaurant, two dishes suitable for children, and carried the food box to the hospital.

.

In the Wang Family Medical Clinic.

Upon seeing the food box, Fang Qichen quickly pushed aside the vegetable porridge and opened it.

Jing Xingzhi coughed, and Fang Qichen sarcastically stopped his hand, realizing he had neglected decorum.

Jing Xingzhi said, “Teacher, let the doctor examine it first. If it’s suitable for you, go ahead and eat. I brought it for you. Don’t worry.”

Fang Qichen smacked his mouth, pretending nothing happened. He shifted to serious matters to divert attention and hinted at them.

“That Zhang Tong can talk and I sent him to the state capital to call Prefect Shen to review the case.”

Seeing the doctor nod, Jing Xingzhi allowed Fang Qichen to resume his meal.

He added, “Having the prefect try the case is a thoughtful decision. He Zhifang is entirely mistaken now.”

“Absolutely. The prefect is still my student, and he won’t be afraid of Zhang family when trying the case. If he dares to deceive me, I’ll make sure he regrets it later!”

Fang Qichen slurped his porridge, appearing quite healthy now, unlike the frail, dizzy old man from before.

Jing Xingzhi watched him finish his meal, then left the hospital and returned to the academy.
