Journey from Comics to Media Empire

[8 June, 1976]

After I have told my Uncle about the 'Saturday Night Fever' movie Idea last night, he went to put it in to work saying that he will invite the article writer and discuss with him to make movie plan.

I am now alone with the maid in the house.

After completing the basic exercise routine, I went to have breakfast. Then started reading the news to see if I can get a new money-making idea.

Then I went back to my room to practice my skills for my future.

 I started to practice western style comics and eastern style manga, manhua… I want to combine the smoothness and curves in the manga with the western and slowly make my own unique style with the blend of east and west.

Then the maid came to my room and seeing me practice my skills reminded to have some rest by playing the game Uncle has brought yesterday.

I listened to her and then started by playing the game. I felt it was interesting to play the game and I thought about making a game of mine but I think it will be difficult to learn about games as I have less experience in it.

Hmm… Why not stick to comics, anime and movies but games are also important.

Sigh! I have to allocate some time to learn about some basic game knowledge.

Then it clicked to me, there are movies like Jumanji and Tron with games genre and I started to grin as I have my third work title.

I think Tron will be easy to draw as a picture book. I think it can be serialised by making the first part as original where the software programmer is dragged into the virtual world and fight against the malevolent software.

The second should be like where the hero of first part trapped in the game then his son goes to recuse him.

Third part should be like after rescue they will prepare for final battle to take the control of the game.

With the Tron as a trilogy, it should be good enough. Then I can add some lore after the trilogy; like making a game world with that technology with 'Ready Player One' as its theme and add some elements of Sword Art Online: Season One and connect it with 'SAO: Movie' template and 'Alita: The Battle Angel'.

I can also connect the game with the movie 'Real Steel' as the A.T.O.M as a hidden reward to the movie hero's son and have a boxing match with the robots.

I feel like this will be possible, but to make these possible I should have strength to keep these works.

Sigh! Then I will make the Jumanji and Tron script picture books just like its originals.

With that I started to note down the important ideas and details for the future of these works should be like.

By evening, I made the preliminary plan for the Jumanji Project. Then met with Uncle Rob and asked him about the movie.

He said that he had met with the journalist, had a meeting with him and it will be done in three days.

He then said that he was thinking about the transforming the studio to make the Hollywood films for a long time and was doing the preparations for it. He also has been searching for a good script.

Now with this idea about the film, he is confident about the studio's successful debut.

I smiled happily thinking that I had helped Uncle with my suggestion.

With my foresight, I can help Uncle avoid some pitfalls and give him movie projects which will help him gain profits and foothold. This will also help me gain foothold in the future.

Just like that a month has passed and I completed the movie script type picture books of 'Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle' and 'Tron'.

I made the vehicles and costumes same as in the legacy movie; and tired to keep the stories simple and suspense.

I have also kept the animals and characters same as the 'Jumanji' and made sure to keep it entertaining with simple plot.

My Uncle has been in working too hard for the movie. He has been coming home very lately due to this.

So, I kept the picture books in my room locker and started working on noting down the famous game mascots and games like

Nintendo's – Mario, Ardy Lightfoot, Pokémon, Kirby;

Capcom's – Megaman;

Sega's – Sonic, Alex Kid;

Sony's – Rachet, Nathan in Uncharted, Kratos in God of War, Crash Bandicoot, Sypro, Astro Bot,

Bandai's – Pac-Man, Klonoa;

Enix's – Cloud Strife, Chocobo, Moogles etc in Final Fantasy;

Xbox – Master Chief from Halo and Fenix;

And others like Angry Birds, Titus the Fox, Snake, Tetris, Power Pro-Kun, Prinny, Bomberman etc.

Two weeks later, as I was working on these game characters and their story outlines, Uncle came to my room and said "Hey Kid! What are you busy with? You have been cooping in the room for more than a month and only coming outside to exercise or for food. Tell me kid, is something wrong?"

"NN...o… No, Uncle. I have been doing two new works and studying about games. I wanted to give my works to you but you have been coming home lately. So, I kept them in the locker and learning about the games." saying this, I quickly took the folder inside the locker and gave them to my Uncle.

He looked at the folders and sighed "Kid, I know you have great imagination but you have to interact with some people and communicate with others. I have been busy with work lately and can't spend time with you properly. So, I have decided to send you to school next month where you will be interacting with some kids of your age." and said sternly to me.

I was stunned and thought 'Damn it! I have to go to school.' and replied "Okay… Uncle."

After that he sat on the bed and started to read the folders seriously.

He then looked at me and said "Nice! Kid, your imaginations are great and the story is also good. I will get these copyrighted under the GALAXY company and make them publish these titles. Also have editors to check if there are any corrections before publications. So, you have to cooperate with them."

I nodded and said "Okay, Uncle. I will cooperate with them." 

"I will also spend time with you every day. So, if you want anything or having any problem; come to me. I will take care of it. Understood, Kid." said Uncle seriously.

I just nodded my head and said "Understood, Uncle."

Then he went out.

I felt relieved but the got annoyed at the thought of going to school.

I lay on the bed and thought how I will be able to spend the time learning and creating new works.

I got up and noted down these mascot characters and plot lines of the games that I could remember.

Uncle Rob and me spent time talking and discussing everyday from that day onwards.

Three weeks have passed and from the next week onwards I have to go to school. So, Uncle took me out to buy the school essentials like bag, books, etc. then he showed me the school and said that he will drop me and pick me up.

After a week, I went to school to meet my first friend according to my Uncle.

The school was pretty much like a playground for the kids. I wasn't able to focus on my work properly. I then got used to it quickly. The other kids also kept themselves away from me when I am practicing or drawing seriously. The teachers also got used to it as I answered their questions and not creating any disturbance during the class.

Then they informed my Uncle and I got scolded. After that it went on like that and even Uncle too noticed my quirkiness. So, he discussed with the school staff to let me be like that as long as I don't disturb and keep my academic progress.

He felt that I would get some friends if I go to school rather than spend time in my room.

Just like that I ended up staying in the school.

A month later, seeing the situation not improving he took a day off form the school and brought me to his studio where the 'Saturday Night Fever' movie was in making.

John Badham was chosen as director because he has shown his understanding of the script and prepared the principal photography after he has stumbled upon the script and got interested in making the film.

Then he approached Uncle with his ideas and proposal which impressed him. But Uncle wanted to have John G. Avildsen as a director for the movie who rejected for having his schedule full.

Just like in the past timeline where Badham got the chance due to his understanding of the script over Avildsen to direct the movie.

With a budget of five million which is nearly the double of it's original in the past timeline, I sure it will be a hit as it in my memory.

My uncle being a producer has control over the budget and John Badham who has gained experience with his debut 'The Bingo Long Travelling All-stars & Motor Kings' has performed well.

They together with Nic Cohn worked seamlessly during the production.

I get to experience the movie making process with my Uncle who has also noticed my enthusiasm during my stay in the production.

Like that my weekends have been spent on all with the movie production with my Uncle.

During the time, I heard that George Lucas has funded his own special effects studio ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) for his film.

Then I started to remember his epic work 'Star Wars' and his special effects studio 'ILM'.

After coming home, I went to my room and started writing about what I know about George Lucas.

I started to write down ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

I lost over the Star Wars work but I can try to invest in his special effects studio and also get the Indiana Jones copyrighted before him. As the Indiana Jones will be his next work which will take over four years to come to production.

I heard that he put all his money over this project in my past life and escaped together with his wife and Stephen Spielberg on a vacation during the release.

Now I can get my Uncle to get a stake or buy out his special effect studio which is a great opportunity.

With the money I earn of the toys and cards, I think it wouldn't be much problem. As special effect studios burn lot of money during early stages.

But I can get the best special effects studio 'ILM' and best animation studio 'Pixar' in it which will come over the time.

With this thought, I have written down the things and slept early for tomorrow.
