Jujutsu Kaisen: I Have A Gardevoir

Chapter 129: Ch.129 19, Snivy

"Reversed Cursed Technique is super easy, just bam and done."

These are the original words of Shoko Ieiri, the medical doctor at Tokyo Jujutsu High. It's the greatest academic insight in her life, even more so than her claim of "not being able to hold her liquor" (though she can drink a thousand cups without getting drunk).

Akira once thought that this was some kind of academic insight quote deliberately made up to discourage Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. But when he truly mastered it, he realized it wasn't academic insight at all.

It really is that simple.

Just in those four words: "My heart is bright".

All Jujutsu Sorcerers, when researching "Reversed Cursed Technique," focus their attention on the "double negative makes a positive" aspect—the "negative negative" part.

But that's actually mistaken. The true key lies in the resulting "positive"—the positive energy.

Only by understanding the positive does the double negative gain direction and meaning.

Otherwise, no matter how many negatives you stack, you'll never derive that final "positive."

And the essence of this "positive" isn't complicated at all. It's simply the brightness within one's heart.

It's a very simple principle.

Cursed Energy, like curses, is the crystallization of human negative emotions.

But humans don't only have negative emotions—they also have positive emotions.

Since negative emotions can be converted into power, why shouldn't positive emotions work too? Aren't they both products of the mind? There's no reason to favor one and neglect the other.

After truly mastering Reversed Cursed Technique, Akira found the answer.

Because "positives and negatives cancel out."

When Jujutsu Sorcerers first come into contact with Cursed Energy, they deliberately put themselves into states like anger or hatred to maximize their Cursed Energy output.

This habit becomes the greatest obstacle to harnessing positive energy. After getting used to dealing with negative energy, naturally one grows more and more distant from positive energy.

To master Reversed Cursed Technique, you need a bit of "positive energy" at the start as a primer and catalyst, so that you can continuously induce "negative negative equals positive" and let it grow and strengthen.

Based on this, Akira has a bold guess: that the reason Jujutsu Sorcerers are all so eccentric may not only be subjective; it could also be the influence of negative energy itself.

Without madness, there is no survival.

Of course, this doesn't mean Jujutsu Sorcerers lack positive emotions, but having Cursed Energy as an initial given, and since positive energy is calmer and steadier, it's naturally harder for it to appear on a large scale or form a stable system.

In some sense, the higher one's Jujutsu talent, the harder it may be to master Reversed Cursed Technique.

The same logic applies to their level of eccentricity.

Satoru Gojo and Yuta Okkotsu, who have cheats like the Six Eyes or the ability to "copy" techniques, are exceptions.

Instead, people like Akira and Shoko Ieiri, who are easygoing and have no or almost no innate Cursed Techniques, might find it easier to grasp.

Of course, these are just Akira's own thoughts, not necessarily accurate. But that doesn't stop him from cursing:

"Jujutsu was never the only path. The first person to propose that Technique supremacy nonsense must have been a brain-dead moron—though without that idea, I wouldn't be who I am now."

Muttering to himself, a gentle tremor reached deep into his soul.

"This is—?"

He felt the same sensation a few days ago, when Utahime Iori was singing.

This is a sign that a Pokémon is being stimulated into rapid hatching.

Quickly switching to the system's storage box, he saw one egg icon with a vivid emerald-green hue shaking constantly, as if eager to come into this world.

Glancing around, there were no people and no surveillance cameras. Akira simply took out the egg.

The oval-shaped egg landed in his hand, bathed in bright sunlight.

With a crisp crack, a fissure appeared at the top of the eggshell, slowly and steadily spreading under the sunlight's illumination.

When the crack formed a closed loop, a clear, small head pushed through the shell. A slender body, a slender mouth, and it let out a soft, adorable cry toward Akira: "Tang-tang…"

In that instant, Akira felt his heart melt from the cuteness.

Basking in the sunlight was a lovely, emerald-green little snake.

Although it's a snake, it has arms and legs, allowing it to stand like a human.

Its body proportions are strange: its head takes up a third of its body, with large eyes, and its limbs are surprisingly small—but not overwhelmed by its body.

The most distinctive feature is its tail, shaped like a triple-forked leaf.

Freshly emerged from its egg, it immediately used its leaf-tail to soak in the sunlight, then as if falling asleep, it lay motionless in Akira's hands.

A Pokémon with such distinctive traits, Akira certainly recognized it.

"Didn't expect the first one to hatch would be you, Snivy."

Snivy, the Grass Snake Pokémon. Although it's a snake, it's classified as Grass-type and has plant-like characteristics. Its main method of obtaining nutrients is through photosynthesis using its leaf-like tail.

It's one of the Starter Pokémon from the Fifth Generation and enjoys astounding popularity in the Pokémon world. Not only is its design appealing, its strength is also formidable. Who wouldn't love such a Pokémon?

"I really need to properly thank Suguru Geto for this. Hopefully the others will be as impressive as you."

Akira couldn't help but poke Snivy's little head. The Pokémon's eyelids twitched but it didn't open its eyes to look at Akira, not sure if it's laziness or unwillingness.

"Aiya, taking a cool-and-distant route, huh? That actually fits your snake persona perfectly. With the Contrary ability and Egg Moves, you're forever a god."

Akira thought for a moment and moved the newborn Snivy from his hands to his shoulder.

Maybe feeling uncomfortable lying like that, Snivy rarely moved its body, wrapped itself around Akira's neck, and with a flick of its broad leaf tail—smack!—it whipped Akira's face.

Ouch, it actually hurt quite a bit.

This fellow is only Level 1.

Akira reached out to remove the little one's tail. Unexpectedly, as soon as he touched it, the tail flicked away again.

Lowering his gaze, he saw that the little one's previously closed large eyes were now open, shining with intelligence and showing obvious displeasure. It seemed to be saying: "Human, don't disturb my sunbathing. Wrapping around your neck is already giving you face."

Alright, worthy of being a snake princess—such a big attitude.

But why am I not angry at all?

Could I have fallen under the snake princess's charm?

Contrary ability, Egg Moves—Snivy, are you preparing to soar to new heights?

No, it's not like I've been locked in a cell for a long time and now find everything beautiful and attractive. I'm surrounded by all kinds of women—human and non-human—why would I be so easily charmed by a snake?

Besides, it may be called a "snake princess", but the ratio of female to male Snivy is one female to seven males—males are overwhelmingly common.

And the move Attract doesn't work on the same gender.

Uh, just to be sure, I should confirm.

Akira poked Snivy's head again and asked: "Snivy-chan, are you a boy or a girl?"

Then, PIA!

Akira got slapped in the face by the tail again.

This time it was especially hard, leaving a mark.

"Such a big reaction—could it be you're really female?"

Actually, Akira's being silly. He obviously can check with the system, yet he insists on asking. He deserves the beating.

Just as his intellect finally came online and he prepared to open the system to check, a voice rang out:

"Are you alright?"
