Just Graduated, the Aloof School Flower Brought the Baby to the Door?

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: You Are the Light in the Darkness, My Salvation

"Looks like they do," Lin Yang chuckled, surprised at how cooperative the babies seemed to be.

However, their joy was short-lived as the twins began crying again.

Newborns crying was completely normal. At this stage, babies lacked the ability to express their needs in words, so crying was their only way to get attention.

Seeing her babies cry, Shu Mengyao's heart ached. She wanted to pick them up but felt too weak to do so.

"Lin Yang, why are they crying?" she asked, seeking his help.

Luckily, the nurse had shared plenty of knowledge before leaving.

Lin Yang gently checked the twins' diapers and felt the warmth.

"No wonder—they both needed a change! Truly inseparable, even in this!" Lin Yang joked.

"I'll handle it. Don't worry," he reassured Shu Mengyao.

Learning the cause of the crying eased her mind. She leaned against the bed, her eyes glued to Lin Yang's every move.

His movements were gentle and practiced. He started with the baby girl, carefully opening her diaper and lifting her tiny legs.

"So this is Xingxing's meconium," Lin Yang remarked softly as he cleaned her up with a wet wipe. After applying a thin layer of diaper cream, he expertly put on a fresh diaper and checked its fit around her legs.

"Lin Yang, have you raised kids before?" Shu Mengyao couldn't hide her amazement.

Though she was a new mom, all this was completely foreign to her. She had never practiced or even dared to try, worried she might hurt her babies. Watching Lin Yang's smooth and confident handling of the situation left her in awe.

"Don't overthink it. I've never done this before," Lin Yang laughed. "But since the babies' skin is so delicate, I practiced by watching videos a few times beforehand."

"That's amazing—you learned so quickly!" Shu Mengyao beamed, giving him a thumbs-up.

With the girl taken care of, Lin Yang moved on to the boy. Soon, both twins were clean, comfortable, and quiet again.

At that moment, a familiar mechanical voice echoed in Lin Yang's mind:

[Ding! Congratulations, Host, on changing your babies' diapers for the first time. Reward: 150,000 yuan.]

Shortly after, his phone vibrated with a message confirming the deposit.

In just two days, Lin Yang had earned 250,000 yuan. Looking at his bank balance, he couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. This system was truly reliable—this money would help him navigate the challenges ahead.

With the babies calm again, the room fell into a serene silence.

"Lin Yang, what if I'm too clumsy in the future?" Shu Mengyao asked hesitantly, her worry evident. "You learn things so quickly—I'm afraid I'll get left behind."

Lin Yang burst into laughter. "Thinking that far ahead already?"

"I… I didn't mean it like that," Shu Mengyao stammered, realizing what she'd said. She had unconsciously included Lin Yang in her plans for the future, assuming he would always be there.

Her face flushed red as she buried her head in her pillow, too embarrassed to face him.

Afraid of being teased, she also felt her heart race, nervous about how Lin Yang might respond.

Lin Yang leaned closer, his voice warm and teasing. "I'd be sad if you didn't think of the future with me."

"Who's a little ostrich now?" he chuckled. "Or… are you saying you don't want me around?"

Hearing that, Shu Mengyao immediately looked up, shaking her head frantically.

"Of course not!" she blurted. "I'm just scared you'll laugh at me."

"Lin Yang, I don't want to trouble you, but… it feels so good having you here," she admitted softly, her fingers nervously tugging at his sleeve.

Lin Yang smiled, his tone serious yet tender. "I've told you before, haven't I? I'll always be here for you. Once you're discharged, we'll go get our marriage certificate. I want to give you and the babies a proper name."

Shu Mengyao barely had time to process the warmth blooming in her chest when Lin Yang added, "It's just a shame…"

"A shame?" Her heart sank. "Do you already like someone else?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Lin Yang quickly clarified, "It's just a shame that everything feels so rushed. I haven't been able to give you a grand wedding yet. But I promise, once the babies are a little older, I'll make it happen. I'll make you the most beautiful bride."

His words eased her fears and filled her heart with gratitude.

"I don't care about a wedding," Shu Mengyao whispered, her voice steady with emotion. "Thank you for choosing to stay with me. I'll do my best to stay by your side, too."

In her most vulnerable moment, Lin Yang had become her light in the darkness, her salvation. His presence banished her fears and brought her a sense of safety she'd never known before.

"Knock, knock. Sorry to interrupt again!"

The nurse entered, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "I swear I'm not trying to ruin your sweet moments, but the babies need their first bath now."

Hearing this, Lin Yang smiled. "Their first bath, huh? Can parents join in?"

"Of course! We even encourage it," the nurse replied warmly.
