Chapter 12: CH 12: Labryinth

The snowman snarled, summoning a wall of snow to absorb the attack. With a sweep of its hand, it sent the snow hurtling toward Troy in a dense wave. Troy leapt back, but the snow shifted midair, transforming into humanoid figures—snow henchmen armed with icy blades.

"Seriously? It can make minions too?" Troy muttered, spinning his daggers as the snowmen charged him.

Sheldon stayed back, analyzing the fight. "This thing's got layers of tricks," he muttered. He clenched his fists, summoning a spindly amalgamation shaped like a wolf, its body radiating heat. The wolf lunged at the snowman, clamping its fiery jaws around its leg. Steam hissed as the flames melted through the fur, but the snowman regenerated almost instantly, icy plates reforming over the damaged area.

Sheldon groaned, sweat dripping down his face. "That cost me more Endo than I'd like."

"Conserve your strength!" Ace shouted, planting a series of glowing slashes on the snowman's chest. He detonated them simultaneously, sending shards of ice flying, but the creature barely staggered. It swung its arm again, this time faster, and Ace couldn't dodge in time. The impact sent him crashing into a snowbank.

The snowman roared, opening its mouth to unleash a beam of concentrated ice. It carved a path through the battlefield, freezing everything in its wake. Troy used his tendrils to swing out of the way, while Sheldon rolled to safety, summoning a shield-like amalgamation to block the blast.

"Think we pissed it off," Troy quipped, landing beside Ace.

Ace wiped blood from his lip, grinning wildly. "Good. Let's see how mad it can get."

The snowman raised its arms, summoning more snow henchmen. This time, the minions were larger and faster, rushing the boys in coordinated attacks.

Ace charged headfirst into the fray, his movements a blur of aggression. He leapt onto one snowman, slashing wildly with both hands, the glowing cuts tearing it apart before it could strike. Another henchman lunged at him, but he snarled, spitting a short burst of fire into its chest, causing it to collapse into a heap of slush.

Troy fought defensively, his tendrils blocking incoming strikes while he darted between the henchmen, landing precise cuts with his daggers. "Sheldon, these things are endless! Do something flashy!"

"I'm working on it!" Sheldon shouted. He closed his eyes, focusing all his remaining Endo into a single creation. A massive humanoid amalgamation formed, its body crackling with molten veins and its fists radiating explosive energy. "Go big or go home," Sheldon muttered, directing the amalgamation to charge the snowman.

The amalgamation barreled into the snowman, tackling it with a fiery explosion that shook the battlefield. The snowman roared, clawing at the amalgamation, but the molten creature held its ground, pummeling the snowman's chest with seismic punches.

Ace took the opportunity to attack. He climbed the snowman's back, using his slashes as footholds. Once he reached its shoulder, he planted dozens of glowing cuts along its neck and head. "Let's see you regenerate this!" he growled, detonating the slashes all at once.

The explosion rocked the snowman, sending shards of ice and fur flying. It staggered, its movements sluggish, but it wasn't finished. With a furious roar, it slammed its hands into the ground, creating an ice storm that battered the boys and shattered Sheldon's amalgamation.

Troy, now partially covered in frost from using Envy, gritted his teeth. "We need to end this now!"

Ace nodded, flames licking at the edges of his mouth. "Sheldon, one last push!"

Sheldon groaned, his body trembling from exhaustion, but he summoned one final amalgamation—a massive spear-like construct of fire and acid. "Aim it at its heart!" he shouted, collapsing to one knee.

Ace grabbed the spear, leaping high into the air with a guttural roar. His third eye glowed brighter than ever as he unleashed a concentrated fire beam from his mouth, propelling himself downward at blinding speed. He drove the spear into the snowman's chest, detonating it with a fiery explosion that shook the entire peak.

As the flames subsided, the snowman collapsed, its body crumbling into a pile of steaming snow and ice. The blizzard began to ease, the winds dying down as if the creature's death had calmed the storm itself.

Ace stood in the center of the wreckage, his breaths ragged, steam rising from his body. Sheldon slumped against a rock, barely able to stay upright, while Troy leaned on his daggers for support.

"Next time," Troy panted, "let's fight something that doesn't summon an army."

Ace smirked, his third eye slowly closing. "Where's the fun in that?"

Sheldon chuckled weakly. "Fun? You're insane, man."

The boys exchanged tired grins as they gathered their strength. The entrance to the dungeon loomed ahead, waiting for the next phase of their journey.

"Let's grab that Ego's Heart," Ace said, his voice filled with determination. "No way we came all this way to stop now."

As the boys caught their breath, thinking the fight was over, a low rumble echoed through the peaks. The mound of steaming snow where the snowman had collapsed began to shift. The temperature plummeted as frost formed rapidly across the battlefield, the chilling aura almost suffocating.

"What now?" Troy muttered, spinning his daggers warily.

The snow erupted upward, and the abominable snowman emerged again, larger and more menacing than before. Its glowing blue eyes burned brighter, and its ice armor had grown thicker, jagged spikes protruding from its body. It released a deafening roar, and the air around them grew dense with frost.

"Are you kidding me?!" Sheldon yelled, struggling to rise to his feet. "Didn't we just kill this thing?"

Ace snarled, his third eye flaring open again. "Looks like round two just started."

The snowman wasted no time, slamming its massive fists into the ground. Spikes of ice erupted in all directions, forcing the boys to scatter.

Ace leapt into the air, using a burst of fire from his mouth to propel himself higher. He planted glowing slashes midair to maneuver, dodging the icy spikes. From his elevated position, he unleashed a barrage of wild slashes at the snowman's arms and shoulders. The cuts struck true, but the snowman's new armor was tougher, the slashes barely leaving a mark.

"Sheldon!" Ace barked. "We need firepower!"

"I'm on it!" Sheldon gritted his teeth, summoning another amalgamation—a hulking bear-like creature with molten claws and a body that radiated intense heat. The amalgamation charged at the snowman, slamming into its leg with enough force to knock it off balance. Steam hissed as the creature's molten claws tore into the icy armor, but the snowman regenerated almost instantly, its wounds sealing with thick layers of frost.

"It's regenerating faster than before!" Sheldon shouted, sweat pouring down his face. "I can't keep this up!"

The snowman retaliated, swinging its massive arm at the amalgamation. The force of the blow shattered the molten creature into glowing embers, sending Sheldon to his knees from the loss of Endo.

"Damn it!" Sheldon gasped, clutching his chest.

Troy darted around the battlefield, using his emerald tendrils to swing from jagged ice formations. He landed on the snowman's back, stabbing his daggers into the thick fur. "Let's see what you're hiding," he muttered, activating Envy.

A rush of cold energy coursed through him as he copied part of the snowman's abilities. Frost began to form along his arms, and he realized he could manipulate the snow around him. Grinning, he extended his tendrils, grabbing chunks of snow and hurling them back at the creature in compact, icy projectiles.

The snowman roared in frustration, swiping at Troy, but the nimble fighter evaded its attacks, creating icy platforms midair to stay out of reach. "Hey, ugly! Let's see how you like your own tricks!" Troy shouted, sending a hailstorm of ice shards directly at the snowman's face.

The projectiles struck true, cracking the ice around its eyes and momentarily blinding it. "It's working!" Troy yelled.

Ace took advantage of the opening. With a guttural roar, he sprinted forward on all fours, his movements wild and animalistic. He leapt onto the snowman's arm, slashing furiously with glowing cuts that exploded on contact. The creature bellowed in pain, swinging its arm to shake him off, but Ace clung on, digging his claws into the icy armor.

"Let's turn up the heat!" Ace growled. He opened his mouth, unleashing a condensed fire beam directly into the snowman's shoulder. The flames melted through the armor, exposing the flesh beneath. Without hesitation, Ace planted a massive slash directly on the exposed spot and detonated it, blowing a chunk of the snowman's arm off.

The snowman howled, staggering back, but its regeneration kicked in almost immediately, the missing limb reforming from frost and snow.

"This thing just doesn't quit!" Ace spat, jumping back to regroup.

The snowman's eyes glowed brighter, and it raised its arms, summoning a blizzard so intense that it obscured everything around them. Snow and ice swirled violently, cutting visibility to almost zero.

"We're blind out here!" Sheldon shouted, struggling to see.

The snowman used the cover of the storm to attack. It slammed its fists into the ground, creating massive snow henchmen, each nearly 10 meters tall. The henchmen charged at the boys, their icy forms moving with terrifying speed.

Troy engaged the first wave, his daggers flashing as he weaved between the hulking figures. He slashed at their legs, using his frost-infused tendrils to trip them up. "Sheldon! I could use some help here!"

Sheldon, despite his exhaustion, summoned a smaller amalgamation—a snake-like creature with acidic scales. It coiled around one of the henchmen, dissolving its icy body with corrosive venom. But the effort drained Sheldon further, and he dropped to one knee.

"I can't keep this up much longer!" Sheldon gasped.

Ace roared, his third eye glowing with an intense blue light. He planted a series of glowing slashes in a circular formation around the snowman, creating a trap. As the snowman stepped into the circle, Ace detonated the slashes, creating a fiery explosion that engulfed the creature.

The snowman roared in agony, its body cracking and splintering under the intense heat. Ace didn't let up. He charged forward, leaping onto the snowman's chest and unleashing a flurry of slashes directly onto its heart. The glowing cuts sank deep, and Ace detonated them all at once, sending shards of ice and snow flying in all directions.

As the blizzard subsided, the boys stood amidst the wreckage, panting heavily. The snowman lay in pieces, its massive body reduced to a steaming pile of snow and ice.

Ace dropped to his knees, his third eye closing as the glow faded. "That... was insane," he muttered.

Troy helped Sheldon to his feet, both of them exhausted but alive. "If that was just the first obstacle," Troy said, "I don't even want to think about what's inside the labyrinth."

Sheldon managed a weak smile. "Let's not think about it yet. We've got a long way to go."

The boys gathered their strength and began moving forward, the entrance to the labyrinth looming in the distance.

Just as the boys thought they had defeated the snowman finally, the ground began to rumble violently. The remnants of the snowman's body coalesced, reforming with a horrifying new appearance. Its body grew even larger, towering over them at nearly 25 meters, with jagged ice spikes protruding from its back and shoulders. Its arms now ended in massive, blade-like claws made of pure ice. Snow swirled around it, creating a barrier of frost that made it difficult to approach.

"Oh, come on what the hell!" Troy shouted, flipping backward as the snowman swung one of its massive claws at him. The ground where he had stood shattered into shards of ice. "Does this thing ever quit?!"

"Apparently not!" Ace snarled, his third eye snapping open once again, its blue glow illuminating the icy battlefield. "Stay sharp! It's not going down without a fight."

The snowman slammed its fists into the ground, and the frost barrier expanded outward, creating dozens of smaller snow henchmen that immediately charged at the boys. These henchmen were faster and stronger than before, with glowing blue cores in their chests that radiated cold energy.

"Sheldon, get those creatures out now!" Ace barked.

Sheldon gritted his teeth and slammed his palm into the ground, summoning two amalgamations. The first was a towering humanoid figure made of solid obsidian, its fists burning with molten heat. The second was a smaller, serpent-like creature with acid dripping from its fangs. Both creatures charged into the fray, taking on the snow henchmen in a brutal clash.

The obsidian amalgamation grabbed two henchmen by their heads and smashed them together, shattering them into icy fragments. The serpent slithered through the battlefield, dissolving henchmen with its corrosive venom.

"Sheldon!" Troy called out, slashing through a henchman with his daggers. "Don't burn yourself out! We need you!"

"I'm fine!" Sheldon shouted back, though he was visibly straining. Summoning two creatures at once was taking a toll on his Endo reserves, and it showed in the sweat dripping down his face.

Ace launched himself into the air, using his glowing slashes as platforms to maneuver above the battlefield. With his third eye glowing brightly, he unleashed a barrage of fiery slashes, each one detonating on impact and taking out multiple henchmen at once.

"Let's see how you handle this!" Ace roared, planting a series of slashes in a wide arc around the snowman. He detonated them simultaneously, creating a massive explosion that sent snow and ice flying in all directions.

The snowman staggered but recovered quickly, its body regenerating almost instantly. It let out a deafening roar, releasing a shockwave of frost that knocked Ace out of the air.

Ace hit the ground hard, skidding across the ice. "Damn it!" he growled, pushing himself to his feet. "This thing's regeneration is insane."

Troy darted around the battlefield, using his frost-infused tendrils to trip up the snow henchmen. With a quick flick of his wrist, he sent a barrage of icy projectiles at the snowman's exposed joints, hoping to slow it down.

"I'll take a piece of that power," Troy muttered, activating Envy. A green aura surrounded him as he copied the snowman's frost abilities, twisting them into his own. With a wave of his hand, he summoned a wall of ice spikes, forcing the snowman to halt its advance.

"Think you're the only one who can play with ice?" Troy taunted, sending the ice spikes hurtling toward the snowman. The spikes struck its torso, cracking its icy armor, but the creature roared and regenerated the damage almost instantly.

The snowman slammed its fists into the ground again, but this time, it wasn't summoning henchmen. Instead, massive icicles shot up from the ground, creating a deadly maze of frozen spikes. The boys were forced to split up, dodging and weaving through the treacherous terrain.

"Sheldon, watch out!" Troy yelled as an icicle shot up directly under Sheldon. Sheldon barely managed to dodge, rolling to the side as the spike grazed his arm.

The snowman capitalized on their distraction, swinging one of its massive claws at Ace. Ace reacted instinctively, planting a series of slashes in the air to create a protective barrier. The claw collided with the barrier, shattering the slashes but sparing Ace from a direct hit.

"You're not getting me that easily!" Ace snarled, leaping onto the snowman's arm and running up its shoulder. He unleashed a flurry of slashes directly onto its head, detonating them in rapid succession. The explosions sent chunks of ice flying, but the snowman regenerated almost instantly, throwing Ace off with a violent shake.

"Sheldon, we need more firepower!" Ace shouted, dodging another claw swipe.

"I've got one more trick up my sleeve!" Sheldon replied, his hands glowing with Endo as he summoned a massive amalgamation. The creature was a towering golem made of molten rock, its body radiating intense heat. Sheldon fell to one knee, gasping for breath. "That's... all I've got."

The molten golem charged at the snowman, tackling it with enough force to send both of them crashing into the ground. The heat from the golem's body began to melt the snowman's icy armor, exposing its core—a glowing blue sphere embedded in its chest.

"There's its weak spot!" Troy shouted.

The boys coordinated their attack, each targeting the snowman's core. Troy used his tendrils to pin the snowman's arms, while Ace leapt onto its chest, planting a series of slashes directly around the core.

"Sheldon, now!" Ace yelled.

Sheldon, with the last of his strength, commanded the molten golem to grab the snowman's core. The golem crushed the sphere in its molten hands, causing the snowman to let out a final, ear-piercing roar before collapsing into a steaming pile of snow and ice.

The battlefield was silent, save for the boys' heavy breathing. The snowman was finally defeated, its body reduced to nothing but a pile of snow and ice shards.

"We did it..." Sheldon gasped, collapsing onto the ground. "Barely."

Ace sat down beside him, his third eye closing. "If that was just one monster, what's waiting for us in the labyrinth?"
