Chapter 11: School Begins
A week later Adonis and Liam woke up early to prepare for school. "You both look like good students who are responsible when in that outfit" Elara complimented them as she saw them in their school uniform "Somehow I feel she is mocking us with what she said" Adonis said and Liam nodded "No, I was complimenting you both" Elara said smiling and Wade came into the room. Immediately he did the room's temperature dropped as Adonis stared at Wade.
The two of their auras clashed and both Liam and Elara had to move back due to the pressure as cracks appeared on the table and the floor, Sweat started appearing on Adonis's forehead while Wade seemed to be defeating Adonis with his aura alone. "How pathetic and I'm not even trying" Wade said as he scoffed at Adonis strength "Why do have to be such a joy killer old man, you are obviously over twenty to thirty years older than all of us here and you want to be competing with is for who is stronger" Liam said and Wade expression changed a bit "You both will be jogging to school today" Wade said before he left the room
"Don't worry about the old man Adonis, let's just head to school and have fun" Liam daid as he wrapped his arm around Adonis shoulder "The last to get to school buys the other person ehatever he wants" Adonis suddenly said and Liam looked at him confused "Do you even have money to buy me anything" Liam asked and Adonis smirked "I don't need to have money cause you have already lost" Adonos said confidently and Liam snorted "You are to confident, I am the best of the Necron family" Liam boosted and Adonis smirk grew larger before he turned into a blur before moving into the distance at top speed, sonic booms were heard as he blazed through the city leaving white smokes in his trail "Hey you are playing dirty" Liam said as he shot out after Adonis.
Adonis and Liam sprinted through the streets of the city as the morning sun cast golden rays over the landscape. The city was a blend of advanced technology and ancient architecture, showcasing the brilliance of Khthonia's civilization. Crystal towers rose alongside massive stone temples, and glowing, floating orbs of light illuminated the pathways as if guiding the city's inhabitants. The air was thick with energy—not just from the whirr of flying vehicles and the hum of automated machines, but from the palpable tension that lingered in the space between the students.
"You're not gonna beat me, Adonis," Liam called, his voice strained but confident as he pushed forward. His light brown braided hair streamed behind him, a streak of color that contrasted with the silver hue of Adonis's hair. Adonis's smirk widened as he shifted into a burst of speed that sent sonic waves rippling through the air, leaving a wake of white smoke.
"We'll see about that," Adonis muttered, his feet barely touching the ground as he pushed his limits. The thrill of competition surged through him, a rush that made every second feel like an eternity. As they raced toward the colossal gates of the academy, Adonis could feel the presence of his own power simmering beneath the surface. He was no ordinary student—he was immortal, or so he believed. The thought brought a slight smile to his face as the gates loomed ahead.
The academy's gates were an imposing sight, so tall that they seemed to merge with the sky. Intricate carvings of ancient gods and mythical beasts etched into the iron glistened in the morning light. The air around them thrummed with the energy of a thousand whispered prayers. It was here that students honed their skills, where the future rulers, warriors, and scholars of Khthonia were molded.
"You're slowing down, Liam," Adonis called over his shoulder. Liam's face tightened as he surged forward, his movements becoming almost a blur. A burst of wind swept past them, and the sounds of the city faded into the distance as the two boys darted toward the entrance. The race was neck-and-neck, but Adonis's eyes gleamed with victory as they both reached the gates at the same time.
"We're here," Liam panted, half-laughing as he clutched his side.
"And I win," Adonis said, turning to see Liam's shocked expression.
"No way, I caught up to you!" Liam protested, but there was no time to argue. A sudden voice cut through the early morning air, sharp and commanding.
"Impressive, but that's not how we do things here," the voice said. Both boys turned to see a man standing beside them. He had a striking appearance, with sharp features and eyes that were as cold and deep as a stormy sea. His dark hair was tied back in a long braid, and he carried himself with the presence of someone who commanded respect.
"Who are you?" Liam asked, his voice low and guarded.
The man smiled slightly, a gesture that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Sylvester," he said, "Future principal of this academy." His gaze lingered on Adonis for a moment longer before he turned his attention to the both of them. "You're brave, to challenge each other so fiercely."
Adonis's jaw clenched, and he met Sylvester's eyes with a challenging stare. "And you're not here just to watch, are you?" he shot back, sensing something more beneath the surface.
"Not just to watch," Sylvester said with a hint of amusement. "I'm here to make sure that potential like yours doesn't go to waste. And from what I see, Khthonia is on the brink of changes none of us could have foreseen."
"What do you mean?" Liam interrupted, his voice tight with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
Sylvester's eyes shifted to the horizon, where the early morning light played on the peaks of the academy's towers. "The world as we know it is changing. The gods—those who shaped our destiny—have fallen, their blood seeping into the earth and giving rise to powers unknown. You'll need more than just skill to survive in this new world."
Adonis felt the words reverberate through him, a shiver running down his spine. He glanced at Liam, who met his gaze with an equally troubled look.
Sylvester's smile grew into a grin, but it was cold, calculating. "This is the time for heroes to rise. You two have the potential to become legends, if you can survive what's to come."
The mention of survival made Adonis clench his fists. He could feel the aura around him shifting, the power within him almost roaring to life. He'd faced many battles, but none like this—none that threatened the very essence of existence.
"So what's our first lesson, then?" Adonis challenged.
Sylvester's eyes gleamed with interest. "Your first lesson is understanding that power is not only about strength. It's about knowing when to wield it, and when to let it lie dormant. But for now, let's see if you can truly handle what comes next." Sylvester said as he disappeared while Elara came out of the school gate
"Who were you both talking to" Elara asked as she looked around "The school principal" Liam said as he had a strange look on his face "Let me guess he kept saying strange things" Elara asked and the two boys nodded and then Liam frowned "How did you get here before us" Liam asked and Adonis Elara grinned "Will you believe me if I tell you I can go anywhere on this continent as long as I want to" Elara asked "No" Liam replied and Elara smile disappeared as she glared at Liam "Why are you here" Adonis asked Elara and this time around Elara face turned serious "I am your class monitor" Elara replied and Liam laughed out loud
"What, you don't believe me again" Elara said and Liam looked at he before he laughed again "Get out of here" Elara said to Liam as she dragged Adonis through the gates.
