The Devil's POV

The city of Dorias.

It's about two o'clock in the morning. Suffering from insomnia, Diavolo strolled through the streets of the city. He was dressed in a dark, closed cloak with a hood on his head that kept his appearance safely hidden from prying eyes. In his hands was a bottle of recently purchased low-alcohol wine, which he occasionally sipped without getting drunk and savouring the taste.

'Geez... How long has it been since I logged into this damn game? I think it's definitely been a few months now. Though fuck knows, I don't keep track of it much. But I'm a little stressed by the fact that in those few months I haven't come much closer to finding the arrow. What's just as frustrating is that I still haven't met Risotto and his team. But I'm pretty sure that they're in the game, that they're looking for the arrow, and that they're being attacked by various Stand users as much as I am. I'm not having any particular difficulty with this, though. So far there have been no worthy opponents among the attackers. Still... Why haven't we met yet? It's quite strange.'

Soon he got tired of wandering the streets, and decided to find another place to spend some quiet time. He decided to climb up on the roof of one of the houses.

He sat down near the edge of the roof and admired the night sky while he sipped his wine, which he still had half a bottle of. The lack of clouds gave him a beautiful view of the night sky, decorated with a multitude of stars and a brightly shining moon that illuminated the entire city well enough to eliminate the need for street lighting, at least for now.

'Damn that Risotto Nero!...! Why...? Why does he haunt me even in this life? I used to think that since I managed to escape from that hell after all, fate was on my side, but now... I'm starting to doubt it. What if this is all just a cruel joke? What if this isn't a trial at all? Well, if it is, then the fate of mankind must be ruled by fools.'

The devil had already finished his wine and just continued to sit there admiring the night sky. All this continued until a voice sounded behind him:

- Beautiful view, isn't it? It's a nice place to be alone and think about a lot of things.

A chill ran down Diavolo's spine, but not because it was unexpected, but because of what he felt.

'This feeling... There's someone standing behind me who has that dark aura emanating from him. But that's not what's bothering me. I sense something else... That person behind me is clearly not a normal Stand user.'

Turning around slowly, Diavolo saw a tall and muscular man standing a few metres away from him. He had long blond, slightly unkempt and tangled hair that came down to his shoulders. He was dressed in a yellow jacket with a tight dark t-shirt underneath, and yellow trousers with an open crotch. He looked smugly down at the Devil with his piercing gaze.

- And you're a user of the Stand,' Diavolo addressed the stranger. He felt a little afraid a few seconds ago, but now he was much more confident, though still cautious, 'You're different from anyone I've seen before. Though you look like one of the guys I saw in Masador. You're not brothers? So... Do you want to kill me?

- Do you want to kill me? - The man smiled slightly for a few seconds, -If it were that easy... You think it's my will? You think I want to kill you just like that? You're not exactly an idiot, so you should know better by now. Like everyone else, I have to find and kill people like you. Why? It's not something you can just explain. Everyone else... They think it's the right thing to do... The right thing to do. But they have no idea what the truth is! And the truth is that all these desires are fake! This anomaly... Or should I say this reality rift... It's all his fault! Maybe it's a cruel joke of fate or something else, but somehow we've all got this damn desire to destroy the other users of the Stand, i.e. you. You're lucky, by the way... You seeped into this world through small, almost invisible holes of reality, and escaped the fate we suffered. And you know what the most frustrating part is? The fact that there's no way to fight it, and that only I, Dio, have realised it so far! - It was obvious that the man who called himself Dio was a little angry, -What's the reason? What's the reason? Even I can't understand it! And that's because these things are beyond comprehension. I... I... I'm even beginning to doubt whether I'm real,' Dio sighed heavily, a look of humility on his face, 'You know... I think this is all a big mistake. None of this should have happened.

Diavolo sensed that a battle was about to break out, and he was right. Behind Dio, his Stand materialised. He was a tall and muscular gold-coloured humanoid. He wore a helmet covering his face up to his nose and simple, small twin diving tanks on his back, connected by ribbed wires to the back of his mask. On the back of his palms were simple dials.

'This is his Stand, but what is its power?'

Barely had the enemy Stand materialised as in the next instant, Dio disappeared and a huge number of knives flying at him appeared in front of Diavolo's face.

'What!'

When the knives were already a few centimetres away from his face he quietly said:

- [King Crimson].

Time was erased.

Diavolo began to look around for his vanished opponent, ignoring the knives that went through him as if he didn't exist at all.

'What was that just now? He just took off and disappeared, and a bunch of knives materialised in front of me. It's definitely an ability of his Stand, but I haven't realised what it is yet.'

Looking around he finally spotted his enemy. Dio was standing on the roof of a nearby building, watching to see what result his actions would have. Without a moment's hesitation Diavolo jumped to the rooftop where his enemy stood, stood behind him and raised his Stand hand up for the one blow that would end this battle.

'He is clearly not as simple as he appears. What is his strength? Super speed, perhaps? It's possible, but I doubt it. Either way, we need to finish him quickly.'

Time resumed its course.

Barely had time resumed as [King Crimson] lowered his arm and slashed his enemy from shoulder to chest with ease like a butter knife.

- That's it. - Calmly said Diavolo and pulled his hand out of his defeated enemy.

However, when he thought it was over, he was hit in the chest by a blow from the enemy Stand, which threw him back a few metres and almost broke a rib. He managed to stay on his feet, though.

Dio turned around to face him. The wound that was left after the [King Crimson] hit began to heal rapidly, which shocked Diavolo.

'What the fuck is this!!! How is he still alive? A wound like this is guaranteed to kill any human... Maybe not immediately, but it will. So why is he still alive, and why is this wound healing?'

- You...' Diavolo turned to Dio, holding his chest, 'You're not human!

- Good point. I hope you realise now how pathetic you are in front of me! I am Dio, and I am above all mankind!

- Don't be so cocky! You're nothing in front of me! I am the Devil! I am the Emperor! I am the King of Kings!

- You! - It could be seen that the words of Diavolo made Dio a little angry.

For a few seconds, they stood still and looked at each other with contemptuous glances, then they simultaneously attacked. When the distance had already shortened enough for their Stands to reach each other Dio suddenly disappeared again. At first Diavolo was a little shocked, but after a second a terrible pain pierced his body, which began to quickly change to cold. Slowly lowering his head down, he saw the bloody arm of the enemy Stand sticking out of his stomach. His life force completely left him, and with a single cough of blood, he dropped dead.

'Ha ha ha ha ha ha!...! It's all clear now. Right now, when we throw ourselves at each other, he would once again disappear and kill me. It would really be like that, because [Epitaph]'s predictions always come true... But only it would! [King Crimson]!'

Time was erased.

Dio began to move towards the Diavolo, and the latter calmly walked towards him. And then the moment came when Dio should have disappeared, but he didn't. He just kept moving forward.

Diavolo went behind his enemy's back and laughed loudly:

- Aha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! I see. If I hadn't erased time, you would have disappeared, however, that didn't happen now. Now I understand it all. You stop time! A truly terrifying power... But you can't stop time if time no longer exists! - [King Crimson] swung round to strike, 'No one can escape his fate... Except me! For when I erase time, not even fate can touch me!

Time has resumed its course.

[King Crimson] threw a powerful punch that punched through his opponent's stomach. Stand Dio tried to strike back, and he almost succeeded. He struck at his head and almost knocked it off, but when his fist had already touched his face....

Time was erased.

Stand Dio's fist just went right through the Devil's head.

- You know... I've been doing some thinking, and I realised something. We're alike, but we're also very different. I don't know how to explain it, but we are. If we'd fought before, we'd probably be on equal footing. But now it's different. Now I'm going to come out the winner either way! No matter what way, no matter what methods, but in this case the result will be the same! You know why? You said yourself that you're trapped in this rift of reality, or should I say fate. But I... I seeped into this world through little holes of reality, as you put it. And you know what that means? That fate is on my side! That's why I'm gonna come out the winner either way!

Diavolo stood to the side of his opponent and materialised a book in his hand that had a handprint pattern on it.

''I haven't used these abilities before, and I doubt I need them at all, but it comes in quite handy now. Thanks for Kuroro's parting gift, at least it came in handy somewhere. I think it's done like this...'

Opening the book, he materialised the bookmark he had left on the page with the Sun and Moon ability, then closed it. Two symbols appeared on his hands. A sun seal with a plus sign on his left hand and a moon seal with a minus sign on his right hand.

'It's time to end this battle.'

Time resumed its course.

Diavolo quickly touched Dio's head and arm with his hands, then instantly struck with his Stand all the way to the same head and quickly bounced back a few metres so that his opponent didn't have time to do anything in response.

Almost instinctively, Dio put his hand on the spot where Diavolo had struck. A second later, he was about to do something and moved towards his enemy, but at that moment he took his hand off his head.

There was an explosion. The explosion was so powerful that the Devil was thrown from the roof right down to the street, and the roof of the building was almost completely torn apart.

- I didn't expect the explosion to be so powerful. If I hadn't had time to defend myself with Nan, I would have been torn to shreds.

Rising to his feet, he looked around. Among the piles of shards of tiles and stones he saw his opponent, or rather what was left of him. The lower part of his body was all that was left of Dio.

'Well, apparently you can't heal wounds like that. Shit, I think I broke something... Shit...'

Holding onto his torso and limping, Diavolo hurriedly walked away from the scene of the battle.

'This is a night I will remember for a long time. I have much to think about. For now, fate is on my side, and that's a fact. But how long will it last? What game is fate playing and where will it lead? How complicated it all is...'
