Kung Fu Panda: Reborn as Po

Chapter 15: He's Back

The cold, oppressive silence of Chorh-Gom Prison was shattered as Tai Lung's golden eyes fixated on the feather resting just beyond his reach. It had drifted so carelessly into his domain, as if mocking him. Twenty years. Twenty long years of imprisonment, isolation, and reflection. He had bided his time, his mind sharpening like a blade. And now, fate had handed him a key.

The feather trembled slightly as he extended his tail, its tip brushing against the delicate object. With a deft flick, he coiled his tail around it and pulled it close. A cruel smile spread across his face as he tucked the feather beneath his bindings, concealing it for now.

From above, the voices of Commander Vachir and Zeng echoed. The rhino's heavy footsteps retreated toward the lift, accompanied by the nervous fluttering of the goose. Tai Lung listened carefully, his senses as sharp as ever.

"See? Nothing to worry about," Vachir boomed, his voice carrying bravado that felt hollow to Tai Lung.

Zeng's response was a tremulous whisper. "Y-Yes, of course. Nothing at all..."

Tai Lung smirked. "Nothing to worry about," he repeated softly, his voice a venomous whisper. "We'll see about that."

As the lift ascended, Tai Lung turned his attention to his bindings. The Turtle Shell prison encased him, a construct of impossibly thick iron and chi-forged chains designed to nullify his every movement. He had tested it countless times, searching for weaknesses. Tonight, he would find one.

He slipped the feather into the mechanism of his manacles, working it with meticulous precision. The ancient locking mechanisms groaned in protest, rusted from decades of inactivity. His tail twitched with suppressed excitement as he heard the first faint click.

"Finally," he growled.

With a roar of effort, he pulled against the loosened restraints. The Turtle Shell shuddered, its chi-forged bars flaring with energy, resisting him. Tai Lung's muscles bulged as he pushed himself harder, veins standing out against his fur. His roar echoed through the chamber, primal and unrelenting.

The Turtle Shell cracked.

The sound reverberated like thunder. Above, Vachir froze mid-step, his ears twitching. "What was that?"

Before Zeng could answer, a deafening crash erupted from below. The entire prison seemed to tremble.

"Move!" Vachir bellowed, grabbing Zeng and shoving him toward the lift controls.

Tai Lung emerged from the shattered remains of his prison, his body free for the first time in twenty years. He rolled his shoulders, testing his range of motion, and every movement sent a surge of power coursing through him. His claws flexed, his tail lashed, and his muscles rippled beneath his fur.

The rhino guards rushed into the chamber, weapons drawn. Their eyes widened in fear as they took in the sight of Tai Lung, free and furious.

"Stop him!" Vachir commanded, his voice tinged with panic.

Tai Lung moved like a shadow, faster than any of them could react. He leaped into the air, his claws flashing as he disarmed the first guard with a single strike. A spinning kick sent another crashing into the wall.

A third guard swung a massive hammer, but Tai Lung caught it mid-swing, his grip unyielding. With a snarl, he wrenched the weapon from the guard's hands and used it to knock him unconscious.

"You think you can stop me?" Tai Lung taunted, his voice a dangerous purr. "I am Kung Fu."

The guards fell one by one, their weapons clattering to the ground. Tai Lung's movements were precise, brutal, and efficient. He struck with the strength of a hurricane and the grace of a predator, his years of captivity having done nothing to dull his skills.

Only Vachir and Zeng remained. The rhino raised his massive war hammer, his hooves digging into the ground as he prepared to charge. Tai Lung stood his ground, his golden eyes glinting with malice.

"You should have killed me when you had the chance," Tai Lung said coldly.

Vachir roared and charged, the ground trembling beneath him. Tai Lung sidestepped at the last moment, using Vachir's momentum against him. With a single devastating strike, he sent the rhino crashing into the wall, where he slumped unconscious.

Zeng cowered in the corner, trembling as Tai Lung approached. The goose closed his eyes, bracing for the end.

Instead, Tai Lung grabbed him by the feathers and lifted him effortlessly. "You're going to deliver a message," he said, his voice low and menacing. "Tell Shifu that I'm coming. Tell him to prepare for the reckoning."

With that, he released Zeng, who scrambled to his feet and flew out of the prison as fast as his wings could carry him.

Tai Lung stood amidst the wreckage of Chorh-Gom Prison, the bodies of unconscious guards strewn around him. He took a deep breath, the cold mountain air filling his lungs.

He was free.

His thoughts turned to the Jade Palace, to Oogway, and to Shifu. He clenched his fists, his claws digging into his palms. They had betrayed him, stolen his destiny. But he would take it back.

First, though, he needed to regain his full strength. He thought of the old Kung Fu masters he had defeated in his youth, their techniques now long forgotten by the world. He would find them, test himself against them, and reclaim the title of the strongest warrior.

And then, he would claim what was rightfully his.

"The Dragon Warrior," he murmured, his voice dripping with disdain. "That title belongs to me. It always has."

As the weight of his escape finally sank in, Tai Lung threw back his head and roared, a sound that echoed across the mountains and into the valley below. It was a roar of triumph, vengeance, and unrelenting desire.

Tai Lung was back.

And nothing would stand in his way.
