Kuroko no Basket : Before the Generation of Miracles Formed

Chapter 4: Chapter 004: Forgetting Skills, All That’s in My Mind is Power!

Nijimura's opponent was completely angered by Nijimura's attitude of ignoring him. Although he knew that this kid was a new recruit chosen by coach Shirogane, he was still just a rookie.

He, on the other hand, was a second-team player who had endured a whole year of tough training at Teiko!

He absolutely wouldn't lose to some first-year kid!

"Kid!"

"Don't even think about the first team or second team for now!"

"That kind of daydreaming can wait until I send you to the third team!"

To be honest, basketball is a sport that relies heavily on talent, especially in the early stages, where the differences are most obvious. Middle school is exactly when these differences show up.

In the 1v1 tests, it's mostly the newcomers who start first.

Nijimura Shuzo held the ball, his hands naturally hanging down in a triple-threat position. The second-team player across from him wanted to step up for tight defense, but Nijimura Shuzo reacted incredibly fast, using a fake shot to force the opponent back with a series of quick steps.

The timing was spot on, and his skills were visibly seasoned.

Maybe even a bit too seasoned.

Shigure Akito: "..."

Regarding Nijimura Shuzo's abilities,

The original manga doesn't show much.

Especially considering that Nijimura's strength was always a mystery due to off-court factors.

Most of what's said about him is indirect descriptions, like "The best power forward in middle school," "Excellent skills," "Wide vision and passing ability," and so on.

However...

Just looking at this triple-threat move, you can already see traces of what was described in the manga.

The way he performed the triple-threat was both "slick" and "rough."

Whoosh~!

In Akito's view, after forcing the opponent back, Nijimura suddenly launched his attack!

His first step was incredibly fast, and in the blink of an eye, he was already next to the second-team player. From Akito's side, he faced the opponent's confident expression!

But as a second-team player at Teiko, this opponent's defense wasn't so weak that he could just be brushed off with one step.

The player quickly gathered his strength and stuck close to Nijimura.

Then...

Everyone heard a dull thud!

When Akito thought Nijimura would continue using technique to break through the defense, he unexpectedly collided head-on with the defender!

That second-team player was clearly much bigger than Nijimura, yet he staggered backward!

It was obvious...

In terms of Strength, the two were on different levels!

What came next, however, was different from Nijimura's arrogant attitude off the court. On the court, although his playing style was still wild and direct, it was a combination of strength and skill.

As a result, Nijimura's strength appeared to be more than double what it actually was!

Boom~!

Under the legs, a quick turn!

Using brute force!

Twisting to break through!

Boom~!

Cross step to get around the opponent!

In that moment, it seemed like Nijimura's extraordinary technique on the court was almost overshadowed by his brutal strength. The second-team player defending him was stumbling backward again and again.

At that moment,

What technique?

It was all just pure power!

Beside him, Akito was stunned.

Terrifying...

That second-team player looked quite strong, but he was being pushed around like paper.

Forget offense, if it were me defending, I'd probably be in the same situation. After all, the 'Slam Dunk System' has 'Godai Tomokazu' who's good at shooting and dribbling, but his Strength attribute is only 50.

Strength is my weak point. For defense, though, I do have an 85 in Stealing.

Until I get another player with the 'Slam Dunk System' to boost my Strength, for defense, I'd probably only be able to match Nijimura in terms of Stealing.

On the court,

Nijimura, almost the same height as Shigure Akito, quickly made his way to the basket.

Whoosh~!

A jump to attack the rim!

A 175 cm tall first-year in middle school, barely dunking!

It was ridiculous!

The second-team player, left completely behind, stared in disbelief.

He never imagined that this opportunity to "educate" the new guy would turn into such an embarrassing situation.

In front of so many people, being "re-educated" by a first-year rookie was the most humiliating thing imaginable.

Off the court,

The newcomers, who were already nervous, became even more anxious after seeing this.

"Afraid that their friends might be struggling, but also afraid their friends are driving a Range Rover."

This sentence pretty much describes the feeling of the first-year newcomers at this moment.

However,

Just as everyone was reassuring each other, saying things like,

"This is just an exception,"

"That guy was personally brought in by the coach," and

"Anyone the coach picks is definitely a monster,"

The next 'monster' test began.

That's right.

It was Shigure Akito from court 3.

[Glory Road mission has been loaded...]

[In the Teiko 1v1 test, defeating a second-team player will reward you with a 'Newbie Benefit (2/2)', randomly granting an 'Slam Dunk Mobile Game' Normal-profile Player.]

Shigure Akito's eyes lit up, and he let out a deep breath.

This 1v1 match would determine whether he could get the next 'Newbie Benefit.'

At this point, the difficulty of obtaining the 'Slam Dunk System' was still unknown.

Benefits like the Newbie package, where you just get a free player for winning one match, would likely never come again if missed.

To have a perfect start, he had to show his full strength to ensure a victory!
