Chapter 7: CHAPTER 7
[The Last Day of the Weekend – Rivaan and Jilpa Meet]
The sun hung low in the sky as Rivaan approached the small park where he and Jilpa had agreed to meet. The air was crisp, and a faint breeze carried the chatter of children playing and the rustling of leaves. Rivaan spotted Jilpa sitting on a bench near a cluster of trees, his long red-and-white hair catching the sunlight, making him look almost otherworldly.
Rivaan's heart raced as he approached, clutching his backpack tightly.
Rivaan: "Yo, Jilpa. Been waiting long?"
Jilpa turned, his red-and-white eyes locking onto Rivaan's with an intensity that made Rivaan hesitate. But then Jilpa smirked.
Jilpa: "Nah, just enjoying the scenery. What's up? You said it was important."
Rivaan sat down beside him, glancing around to make sure no one was within earshot. He pulled the book from his bag and set it on the bench between them.
Rivaan: "I found something yesterday. Something big."
Jilpa raised an eyebrow, leaning closer to look at the book.
Jilpa: "This isn't one of those lame self-help books, is it? 'Awaken Your Inner Spirit' or whatever?"
Rivaan (grinning): "Not quite. This is about the third eye. And... powers like yours."
Jilpa's smirk faded, replaced by a look of curiosity.
Jilpa: "wait really."
[The Plan Unfolds]
Rivaan explained everything—the temple, the spirits, the book, and the revelation of his own power, Light Heat. As he spoke, Jilpa's expression shifted from intrigue to shock and then to something unreadable.
Jilpa: "So you've got powers too, huh? And here I thought I was the only freak."
Rivaan: "Freaks stick together, right?"
Jilpa chuckled, but his tone was serious.
Jilpa: "Alright, so what's your plan? You didn't drag me out here just to tell me you can shoot lasers, did you?"
Rivaan nodded, his face grim.
Rivaan: "The demons on our classmates' backs. You see them too, right?"
Jilpa hesitated, his gaze hardening.
Jilpa: "Yeah... What about them?"
Rivaan: "We need to use them as test subjects. If we're going to understand our powers, we have to practice. And those demons are the perfect targets."
Jilpa leaned back, crossing his arms.
Jilpa: "You want to go after the demons? On our classmates? That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen."
Rivaan: "Not if we're careful. Think about it, Jilpa. These demons are already trying to possess people. If we can figure out how to control or defeat them, we'll be one step ahead. And besides..."
He paused, his voice lowering.
Rivaan: "We don't have much choice. These powers—your Slave Chain and my Light Heat—they're dangerous. If we don't learn to control them, we'll hurt people. Or worse."
Jilpa rubbed his temples, clearly conflicted.
Jilpa: "Fine. But how do we do it without freaking everyone out? You think the teacher won't notice us going after her students?"
Rivaan (smirking): "That's the tricky part. We have to be subtle. Start with the weaker demons, the ones that barely cling to people. You've got your chains to hold them in place, and I can burn them off without anyone noticing or you can crush them with your chains like you did before or you can try and control them like your power suggests."
Jilpa stared at him for a long moment before sighing.
Jilpa: "Alright, Rivaan. Let's do this. But if this backfires, I'm blaming you."
Rivaan (grinning): "Deal."
[The Training Begins]
The two spent the rest of the day discussing the details of their plan. They decided to target the quieter students first, the ones who often sat alone or avoided attention. Rivaan theorized that the weaker demons gravitated to those with low emotional defenses, making them easier targets.
As they walked back home, Jilpa glanced at Rivaan.
Jilpa: "You sure you're ready for this? Taking on demons isn't exactly a game."
Rivaan (determined): "I don't think we have a choice. We've got to start somewhere."
[A Week of Practice – Demons in the Classroom]
Monday – The First Attempt
Jilpa and Rivaan had chosen their first target: a quiet, reserved girl named Mei Lin who always sat in the back row. The faint outline of a demon clung to her shoulders, its dark tendrils curling around her like smoke.
During lunch, Jilpa leaned over.
Jilpa (whispering): "That's the one. Small, weak, and barely hanging on."
Rivaan: "Alright. I'll distract her. You do your thing."
As Rivaan struck up a casual conversation with Mei Lin, Jilpa summoned his Slave Chains. The glowing red tendrils slithered from his back, invisible to everyone but the two of them and the spirits. They wrapped around the demon, constricting it as it let out a guttural growl.
Jilpa (gritting his teeth): "Gotcha, you little creep."
The chains crushed the demon into nothingness, leaving Mei Lin looking visibly lighter, as if a burden had been lifted. She smiled faintly at Rivaan, who quickly made an excuse to leave.
Tuesday – Gaining Momentum
Wordlessly, Jilpa and Rivaan targeted another demon, this time attached to a boy who often slept in class. Rivaan used his Light Heat to burn the spirit into ash. The boy jolted awake but didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary.
Rivaan clenched his fists as the heat radiated off his hands.
Rivaan (thinking): I'm getting the hang of this...
Wednesday – Pushing Limits
By midweek, they had cleansed three more students, their confidence growing with each success. Jilpa had perfected his control over the Slave Chains, able to bind and suffocate demons with ease. Rivaan's Light Heat grew stronger, the beams sharper and faster with each use.
But something felt off. The demons were becoming more aggressive, resisting their attacks.
Jilpa: "These things aren't going down as easy anymore. It's like they're getting stronger."
Rivaan: "Or maybe they know what we're doing."
Thursday – Overconfidence
Their next target was a larger demon that had latched onto two students simultaneously. Jilpa managed to bind one with his chains, but the other lunged at Rivaan, its grotesque form snarling as it tried to claw at him.
Without thinking, Rivaan unleashed a beam of Light Heat. The blinding light seared through the demon and continued forward, blasting a hole through the classroom wall.
The room went silent. Dust and debris filled the air as the students screamed and scrambled for cover.
Friday – The Aftermath
The school had been closed for repairs, but Jilpa and Rivaan met in the park to talk. Rivaan sat on a bench, staring at his hands.
Rivaan: "I messed up, Jilpa. I could've hurt someone... or worse."
Jilpa (shrugging): "No one got hurt. But yeah, that was reckless."
Rivaan (grimly): "I can't let this happen again. Until I figure out how to control this power, I'm done using it in class."
Jilpa nodded, placing a hand on Rivaan's shoulder.
Jilpa: "Fair enough. I'll handle things for now. But don't give up on mastering it. We're going to need all the firepower we can get."
[Saturday-Rivaan goes back to the temple the helped awaken his powers]
[The Temple of Knowledge – Rivaan's Discovery]
The evening sun cast a warm golden glow over the temple's ancient stone walls as Rivaan stepped inside, his mind still reeling from the chaos he had caused at school. The temple, with its quiet halls and faint incense scent, had become his refuge. He wandered through the shelves of ancient texts, hoping to find something—anything—that could help him gain better control over his powers.
His eyes caught sight of a dusty book tucked away in a corner, its golden lettering faintly gleaming: "The Art of Manifesting Spiritual Chi." Rivaan carefully pulled it from the shelf, feeling a strange warmth emanating from its worn leather cover.
Sitting cross-legged on the temple floor, he opened the book and began to read.
[The Revelation of Spiritual Chi]
The book explained that chi, the life force energy within every living being, existed in two forms: normal chi and spiritual chi.
Normal chi was the energy that powered the physical body, often strengthened through exercise, meditation, and martial arts.Spiritual chi, however, was a higher form of energy, one that connected a person to the spiritual realm. This energy could only be awakened through the opening of the third eye, which allowed an individual to tap into unseen forces.
The book detailed how spiritual chi could be used in two ways:
Manifesting it into a solid object - Weapons, shields, and tools created from spiritual chi were indestructible by normal means and highly effective against spirits and demons.
Converting it into a spiritual object - These were ethereal creations, intangible but immensely powerful, capable of affecting both the physical and spiritual realms.
Rivaan's eyes widened as he read further. The process of manifesting spiritual chi into a solid form required the individual to have a perfect body—not in terms of appearance but in terms of balance, strength, and harmony across all physical, mental, and emotional aspects.
Rivaan (thinking): "A perfect body, huh? That explains why it's so rare."
The text went on to describe how those who achieved this feat without training were said to possess a body blessed by Buddha himself, marking them as one in a million.
[Determination Sparks Within]
Rivaan closed the book, his mind racing.
Rivaan (thinking): "If I can master this, I can control my Light Heat better. Maybe even turn it into something less destructive. But... a perfect body? How am I supposed to achieve that?"
The book provided some guidance:
Meditate daily in a spiritually active area to strengthen the connection to spiritual chi.
Train the body rigorously to achieve balance and harmony.
Maintain emotional stability to prevent disruptions in the chi flow.
Rivaan smirked, closing the book and tucking it into his bag.
Rivaan (murmuring): "Fuck Looks like I've got my work cut out for me."
[A New Resolve]
As Rivaan left the temple, he felt a renewed sense of purpose. The chaos of the past week no longer felt overwhelming; instead, it felt like the beginning of a challenge he was meant to face. The image of Jilpa, confident and commanding with his Slave Chains, flashed through his mind.
Rivaan (thinking): "If Jilpa can wield his power like that, then I can do the same. No more accidents. No more risks. I'll master this... even if it kills me and i'll have to tell this to jilpa who knows how cool and strong his powers will be once his chains manifest into actual solid objects."
[A Gift of Knowledge – Rivaan's Plan]
The next morning, Rivaan waited for Jilpa at their usual meeting spot, the park just a few blocks from the school. He paced back and forth, the book on manifesting spiritual chi clutched tightly in his hand.
When Jilpa finally arrived, he looked as unbothered as ever, his red-and-white hair catching the morning light.
Jilpa (teasing): "You look like you've been up all night, Rivaan. Did the demons start haunting your dreams too?"
Rivaan (ignoring the jab): "Very funny. But no, I found something. Something that could help you."
Jilpa raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
Rivaan (holding out the book): "Take a look at this. It's called 'The Art of Manifesting Spiritual Chi.' It explains how to turn spiritual energy into solid objects. Your chains—they're spiritual chi, right? This could teach you how to make them solid. Stronger. More... real."
[Jilpa's Reaction]
Jilpa took the book, flipping through its worn pages. The descriptions and illustrations fascinated him.
Jilpa: "Manifesting chi into solid objects... That's next level."
He paused, scanning a passage about the requirements.
Jilpa (reading aloud): "'A perfect body in all categories is necessary to fully manifest spiritual chi as a solid object. Without this balance, the process is almost impossible.'"
He looked at Rivaan skeptically.
Jilpa: "You trying to tell me I'm not perfect, Rivaan?"
Rivaan (rolling his eyes): "Focus, idiot. It's not about looks. It's about balance—physical, mental, emotional. Your chains are already powerful, but imagine if you could make them into actual weapons or shields. No demon or spirit could touch you."
[The Plan to Train]
Jilpa smirked, clearly intrigued by the idea.
Jilpa: "Alright, you've got my attention. But this 'perfect body' thing sounds like a lot of work. And I'm not exactly known for... discipline."
Rivaan: "That's why we're in this together. You're already way ahead with your chains. I'll help you train if you help me figure out how to keep my Light Heat from destroying everything."
Jilpa laughed, tossing the book lightly in his hands.
Jilpa: "Deal. But don't expect me to start meditating or whatever. That's more your vibe."
Rivaan (grinning): "Oh, you'll meditate. Trust me."
[A New Chapter Begins]
As the two friends walked to school, Jilpa skimmed through more of the book, already envisioning how he could use his Slave Chains in new, creative ways.
Jilpa: "Solid chains... Imagine using them to bind demons for good. Or creating a barrier around someone to keep them safe."
Rivaan: "Exactly. And once you've got control over that, nothing will stop us. These powers of ours—they're rare for a reason. We're meant to do something big with them."
Jilpa (grinning): "Big, huh? Like taking on those sins that keep messing with us?"
Rivaan (seriously): "One step at a time, Jilpa. First, let's make sure we don't blow up another school building."
They laughed, their bond stronger than ever, as they prepared for the challenges ahead
