Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 19: Chapter 16: The Gift (Thanks to the alliance leader Yuxian Qitian)

He opened his eyes to find that it wasn't an unfamiliar ceiling he saw,

but the youngest of the Lu Family's snotty smile with his lips spread wide, turning his head and shouting, "Ma, Second Brother's awake, he's awake!"

The air was filled with the familiar smell of disinfectant, and the corridor was noisy.

Ji Jue looked around blankly, realizing that he was in a hospital room. Right beside him on the nightstand, the third brother was still tearfully finishing his homework, too busy to cry.

Then, he saw Lu Ma's anxious face, looking like she'd been up all night without a break.

Ji Jue tried to recall how he'd been brought here, then realized his head was throbbing with pain, not just from a spiritual deficiency but, more importantly, from drinking.

God knows how much he had drunk last night.

Now, trying to remember the chaotic night before, it felt strangely distant and fuzzy. The only clear memory was someone slapping his back and laughing so hard they were bending over as he was vomiting at the dinner table:

"This Ji Ji is just too weak."

"Come on, take another, big sis will teach you to DUA, huh~"

"Still breathing, no problem, not dead means still can drink, come on, show off a little!"

Snapping back to reality, Ji Jue couldn't help but stare blankly.

So the criminals hadn't killed him, but the people from the Security Bureau had sent him to the hospital?

Was there no justice? No law?!

"Ji Jue, tell me the truth."

Lu Ma's expression was dark as she tugged at his ear, asking coldly, "What did you do last night? Before you speak, think carefully, Little Dog has already confessed everything."

"Ah?!"

Ji Jue was stunned, looking at Lu Feng behind Lu Ma with a bruised face and iodine-painted wounds, trying to be tough: "Uh, well, I think I drank a bit too much, and then I remember...ow, Lu Ma, I was wrong, I was wrong, go easy, easy!"

"You still dare to lie!!!"

Lu Ma roared like a lion, deafening, and delivered a smack to the back of his head: "Officer Wen has told me everything! That bastard Little Dog, taking you out drinking and fighting!!

If it weren't for you guys being somewhat heroic, I would have had to go to the police station to kowtow and beg for a letter of forgiveness! And you were even covering for him!"

"Ah? Oh! Right, it was like that!"

Ji Jue, upon seeing Lu Feng making faces at him, wiped away a cold sweat: I thought you knew about Feng Ge single-handedly slaughtering a crime organization in someone's nightclub last night.

"Right, right, it was all Feng Ge's doing!"

With a mix of snot and tears, he began to pass the buck: "I'm innocent, Lu Ma, you can't blame me!"

The people were all killed by Lu Feng, the heads collected by that bastard Lu Feng, and all he'd done at most was help wipe some surveillance records and pressed the gas pedal on the truck a few times. Besides, the snake that was killed didn't seem like a protected species anyway.

Round it up, it's got nothing to do with me!

Lu Ma was ultimately softhearted, especially towards the 'good child' Ji Jue. Normal tools used against 'Little Dog' like rolling pins, mopsticks, and broom handles were ineffective on him. Even the two slaps on the back of the head were mostly on the base of his neck, half-hearted and weak. Hardly the fierceness and power of someone who could crush a fetus with bare hands.

Seeing Ji Jue acknowledging his faults and promising never to repeat them, with a softened attitude, Lu Ma scolded him fiercely before slowly saying, "The doctor said with your condition, you'll need to stay in the hospital for a few more days for observation. You stay put, don't go anywhere, got it?"

"Ah?" Ji Jue was astonished, "I'm already fine, look, jumping around. Wait, Lu Ma, hold on a second."

Regardless of how much he protested, there's a kind of sickness called 'your mom thinks you're sick'. Lu Ma was one such mom, more stubborn than any, not letting Ji Jue pay a cent for the hospital fees and exams. Not just that, she was even going to go home, kill a chicken, and cook it to nourish Ji Jue. As for the drooling 'Little Dog' beside them... only chicken bones for the disobedient!

"This is quite lively."

A tall figure leaned against the door, tapping on the frame of the hospital room door, looking in with an amused smile. Seeing that familiar motorcycle jacket and riding attire made Ji Jue's scalp tingle once more.

Wen Wen!

"Sorry to disturb," she said with a beaming smile. "I've come to complete a report, it'll be quick."

Lu Ma took her hand and thanked her profusely, but after everyone else had left, Wen Wen lazily dragged a chair over, propped up her legs, and with a flick of some magic, pulled out a can of beer and handed it over:

"Need to sober up?"

Seeing Ji Jue's face go pale as if he was about to throw up, she could only shake her head helplessly, uncapped the beer and downed half of it with a burp, remarking, "Little Ji student, your tolerance is pretty poor, gotta work on that."

That's something I'll have to work on, otherwise, who could match up to you turning into a beer tank!

Ji Jue silently cursed inwardly, watching her expressions, and cautiously greeted, "Wen... Manager?"

"Why so formal, my Security Bureau position isn't convenient to disclose openly, just call me Wen Jie, it's not that serious."

Wen Wen leaned back in her chair, carelessly waving her hand: "Relax, I know what you youngsters are worried about. The scene report and investigation are out, you two aren't involved. The Security Bureau has everything under control, you and your brother should just pretend nothing happened and go on living peacefully."

"Wow, I can't thank you enough!"

Ji Jue was overjoyed, wishing he could get up and kowtow to big sis. Surely, she wouldn't mind the little grumbling he'd just done.
