When Gu Huanhuan’s number was finally called, she had just finished her snack. Being the last patient of the day, the clinic was nearly empty.

She gently pushed open the door to the consulting room and saw Wen Chi, dressed in his white coat, focused on his computer.

When he noticed someone entering, he slowly looked up and was stunned. Even with a mask on, he recognized her instantly. The familiarity of his dear wife washed over him.

He immediately stood up and quickly walked over to her. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming back? And why are you here at the hospital? There are so many germs here, this is reckless.”

Wen Chi was both surprised and delighted. He was a bit annoyed but also touched that she wanted to see him first.

“I wanted to surprise you and get a prenatal checkup. Dr. Wen, I’m your patient now, so please be professional,” Gu Huanhuan said with a slight smile.

The midday heat had driven most people indoors, so the streets were quiet.

Wen Chi found a nearby restaurant, and Gu Huanhuan, feeling ravenous, ordered a lot of food.

Perhaps it was the pregnancy, but she felt like she could eat a whole cow.

The next day, at a department store, Gu Huanhuan sat on a sofa while Wen Chi stood beside her, gently ruffling her hair. The sales assistant brought over some shoes.

She had asked the sales assistant to show her some new styles, but these heels seemed too high. She liked the shoes but decided not to wear them for the baby’s sake.
