Chapter 5: Ch.5 Feast and Catching up with the Family
As Bjorn and his family returned to the hold after their reunion, Thor instantly called for a feast in the Great Hall. The Great Hall is the largest hall in the hold. Usually used for celebrations and war counsels it was beyond opulent. It was built with the best golden oak steelwood, with each beam and plank used being etched with tales of the ancient gods and feats of the world heroes.
A massive hearth was in the center of the hall, made up of admant and marble. It had its own charm with the giant wolf and dragon motifs adorning its side. The floor of the hall was made of black marble that seem to suck in the light that hit it. Large tables ran along both sides of the hall with a raised platform holding another large table where Bjorn and his family were currently sitting.
"So Bjorn tell us how did your journey fair?" Thor asked his youngest son, curious of what he went through.
"Yes brother please tell us. Where did you go? Did you travel to the Necropolis?" Beth rapid fired questions to her younger brother in excitement.
With a small smile on his face Bjorn looked at his overly excited older sister and chuckled before responding.
"Well lets see I did go to the Necropolis but that was awhile into my journey. No first I found myself in the most vibrant forest known to the world. The Grand Forest of Elfheim, home of the elves and protectors of the world tree. I met the elf Queen and King when they found me sleeping in what I thought was just a large tree. To my surprise I had been sleeping in the World Tree itself! The best part of it was meet Elraine the elf Princess and the closest one to the World Tree said to be able to talk to it and has gained immense power from her connection to it. She should be here faster than the others, unless she is getting to caught up in her head again."
Bjorn began regaling his tale of his personal adventure. He told them how he traveled and met many races and different types of people and saw many spectacular sites in the world. When he got to the part of the story about when he was in the human lands he glossed over the different women. He didn't want to admit it but after everything it was still a very sour time of his life.
No instead he concentrated on his glorious battles. He spoke of how he would fight armies of orcs and goblins all by himself to protect the human lands. He regaled his tales of fighting mythical creatures with nothing but his bare hands and his magic to support him.
He talked of the Jarls of the human lands that believed themselves to be gods among men even when true gods walked the same world as them. Finally he told his family how he had invited all of his old friends to come and spend time in their home.
"Like I said that group should all start arriving by the beginning of next week. The only thing that worries me is if Rolo can go ten minutes with out trying to brawl with them."
"What little brother are you scared I would beat them all to badly?" Rollo asked Bjorn with a cocky grin on his face.
"What? No, I'm just worried you wont be able to handle it when they beat you and then you'll drag Beth into to get your revenge."

"Pfft, Hahhahahaha,"
"Not true..."
Bjorn's parents reacted as expected when listening to their sons banter and had to stifle the laugh the were trying force their way out unbidden. Beth on the other hand just couldn't hold it in because it was totally true and she knew it. It wouldn't have been the first time Rolo had run to her to help get his revenge.
Rolo in his defense weakly muttered his reply knowing if his brother said it then it was most likely true. The last time 23 years ago when Rolo had asked his younger brother for a spar he had just returned from his own journey and felt he was powerful. He was summarily trounced by Bjorn.
If that wasn't bad enough he ran to Beth and asked Beth to fight Bjorn in his stead to get revenge. She just looked at Rolo and punched his gut making him double over.
"Bjorn I noticed you didn't talk more about your personal life during your journey except for your friends outside of the human lands. Don't tell me that you just spent the last 18 years of your journey fighting wars." Gaia's voice cut through the banter of the siblings. Looking at her son with a curious look basically saying your not leaving till you tell me.
Bjorn just sighed he had expected this from him mother. She was always to astute and could always find what he was trying to hide. He had originally planned to speak to his mother about these things in private with her, but now she just had to go and mention it in from of Beth too.
"Alright well it was like this..." Bjorn started to tell his family the darker side of his journey.
***
While Bjorn was catching up with his family, there was one person who never took her eyes off of the man. An ethereal beauty sat among the other clan members in the hall so focused on Bjorn that she paid attention to nothing going on around her.
The man next to her noticed her gaze on Bjorn and snorted in contempt.
"Ashlaine, stop looking at him. You are my betrothed now and I don't want you going near him or talking to him. Your father promised your hand to me." The man said in an annoyingly high pitched voice.
Snapping out of her trance she glanced at the soft man beside her. Her father had borrowed money from this man's father and in turn while she was gone also promised her hand in marriage to him. Without even saying a word to the man she just looked back up at Bjorn with longing in her eyes.
'Tch, stupid bitch! We'll see how long you can keep up that indifference when I have you squirming beneath me!' The man said in his heart, imagining how the marital night would go between the two.
At the same time Ashlaine was thinking to herself,' Wouldn't it be nice if he just looked my way an-.'
Before she could even finish her thought, those piercing electric blue eyes turned towards her as if she summoned them with her sheer will power.
"Ashlaine..."
