Chapter 2: 2. The Situation
-Outside the Room-
A plain-looking maid stood next to the door of Ye Xinghan's bedroom, her eyes closed as she tried to absorb the spiritual energy around her. Despite having below-average talent, she diligently pursued cultivation, hoping for a better life. If fate smiled upon her and she stumbled upon some rare treasure, she might even elevate her status to become the concubine of a powerful governor.
While she was deep in meditation, a sudden coughing sound from inside the room broke her concentration. Snapping out of her trance, she rushed toward the door.
"YOUNG MASTER!" she cried, kicking the door open with urgency.
Inside, she found Ye Xinghan violently coughing while holding a strange-looking fruit in his hand.
"UGH! WHY DOES THIS TASTE SO HORRIBLE?" Ye Xinghan exclaimed, his face contorted in disgust. He had been prepared for the fruit to taste bad—after all, in the novels he had read, every transmigrator and reincarnator vomitted after eating a Devil Fruit.
But he never expected the taste to be this disgusting. It was as if it were ten thousand times worse than the foulest durian he had ever encountered.
However, amidst the bitterness, Ye Xinghan felt a mysterious power coursing through his veins. The sensation was intoxicating, especially since he had just transmigrated into the body of a sickly child and had been feeling incredibly weak. For the first time, he felt as though he could do anything.
Yet, he understood this surge of strength was temporary—a feeling similar to when he first awakened Armament and Observation Haki in his previous life.
A faint whisper interrupted his thoughts.
"Y-young master…"
Turning his head, Ye Xinghan saw the maid standing beside his bed, her face pale with concern.
He briefly considered pretending that he was fine, but he doubted his ability to convincingly act like the original owner of the body.
Keeping up such a charade would not only be exhausting but would also likely lead to inconsistencies in his behavior.
So, instead of acting, he decided to take the simplest route—play along naturally.
"Wait a minute, who are you?" Ye Xinghan asked, furrowing his brow in apparent confusion.
The maid's eyes widened in shock. "Young master!? It's me, Ying'er!" she said, introducing herself.
Ye Xinghan clutched his head dramatically. "Ugh, my head hurts," he groaned, feigning discomfort.
The maid gasped. "H-he doesn't recognize me, and now his head hurts! D-don't tell me…" Her voice trembled with panic. "Young master, please wait! I will inform Master Ye Xiao immediately!"
Before Ye Xinghan could stop her, she bolted from the room.
Moments later, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor.
The first to arrive was a tall, middle-aged man with light purple hair and a chiseled jaw. He had a dignified presence, exuding the aura of someone of high rank. Ye Xinghan quickly deduced that this must be the "Master Ye Xiao" the maid had mentioned.
Behind Ye Xiao were several individuals clad in white, long-sleeved robes adorned with a Yin-Yang symbol on their right chests, indicating they belonged to the same organization.
From the moment he entered, Ye Xiao's gaze never wavered from Ye Xinghan. The past two weeks had taken a heavy toll on him, but now, relief washed over his features as he saw his son awake, alive, and seemingly safe.
Though he couldn't help but notice… there was a small problem.
"Xinghan, Father is so relieved you're alright. How are you feeling now?" Ye Xiao asked softly, his voice filled with concern. He then turned and gestured to the three physicians standing nearby. "Physician Ko, Physician An, Physician Jing, please."
He stepped aside to allow the three elderly men to approach.
Ye Xinghan didn't even have time to respond before the physicians surrounded him. They bombarded him with questions—some general, others personal—and he calmly answered them all. They also checked his pulse and examined him thoroughly to confirm his condition.
After a while, the three physicians huddled together, silently discussing their findings. Finally, they reached a conclusion.
"Master Ye Xiao," began Physician Ko, the most senior among them, "Young Master Xinghan has indeed lost his memories. The accident from two weeks ago severely affected the nerves in his brain. When we first examined him, we believed there was a high chance he would be permanently disabled.
"But today, for reasons we cannot fully explain, we found that Young Master Xinghan's neural functions are working as well as—or even better than—a normal child's."
Ye Xiao's relief was palpable, but he noticed Physician Ko seemed hesitant, his eyes darting around nervously.
"That's excellent news! But why do you seem so uneasy?" Ye Xiao asked, his brow furrowing slightly. The weight in his heart had been lifted somewhat, as ensuring his son wasn't disabled was his primary concern. Everything else could be addressed later.
"Well," Physician Ko began, "according to common understanding, a child typically has balanced Yin and Yang energies. As they grow older, these energies begin to shift—Yang becomes dominant in males, while Yin takes precedence in females."
"The issue with Young Master Xinghan, however, is that his Yin-Yang balance is highly irregular. His Yang energy accounts for nearly 90% of his total energy, leaving only 10% for Yin. For an ordinary person, such an imbalance would cause their body to explode due to the conflict."
Ye Xiao's expression darkened, his worry returning. "What exactly are you trying to say?" he asked, narrowing his eyes as he scrutinized the physician. This new revelation seemed as dire as their earlier concerns.
Physician Ko quickly continued, his tone shifting to one of cautious optimism.
"Rest assured, Master Ye Xiao, the situation is not as dangerous as it may seem. In fact, this imbalance could be considered a blessing in disguise. It may very well be the reason for Young Master Xinghan's miraculous recovery.
"Though the Yang energy dominates, it does not overwhelm or destroy the remaining Yin energy. Instead, the two energies flow together in an exceptionally harmonious pattern, with no friction whatsoever."
He glanced at Physician Jing, who nodded, understanding the signal. Physician Jing stepped forward to elaborate.
"Several decades ago," he began, "I ventured into the ruins of an ancient city from before the Age of Darkness. In those ruins, I discovered a book filled with knowledge long lost to this era. It took nearly fifteen years, and the help of many people, to fully translate its contents.
"One of the phenomena described in that book matches the condition currently present in Young Master Xinghan. It details a supreme body constitution that allows an individual to achieve double the results with half the effort if they cultivate using a Yang-based technique manual.
"This rare constitution is called…
The Extreme Yang Body."
