 Anne sat in her room, after she was done reading, her thoughts were interrupted by the rumbling of her stomach, she sighed for the nth time. She rummaged through her bags and brought out a lollipop, and slowly licked on it savoring its sweetness. Suddenly there was a knock on the door, Anne was frightened, she just has the feeling to stay in this room till eternity, she was exhausted just few hours in this mansion felt like a lifetime to her, 'how long would I survive here' she wept inwardly, her thoughts was once again interrupted by a fierce and forceful knock on the door followed by a sharp female voice "do you expect me to keep knocking, if you know what's good for you, come down for dinner, or you'll stay hungry till the next day" it was aunt Li, Anne quickly stood up and opened the door, aunt Li looked behind Anne and saw a good view of the room she smirked and said "do you love your new room, it's better compare to the one you used to live in, in the countryside right ?" Anne remained silent, if she needed to survive here she had to be as transparent as possible, seeing Anne not replying to her, she sneered and clicked her tongue as she muffled "so arrogant and disrespectful !" " Come on, we can't wait for you all day!" aunt Li said as she proudly walked away with Anne following closely behind.

 Soon they arrived at the dinning room, that was when Anne saw the whole family, Caleb, Emily, grandpa Adams, Simon, Raphael, Jacob, Zack, and Lily. They looked just like a complete family with them showing affection towards each other, Emily's full attention was on Lily as she fed her everything she wanted, while Caleb looked at them smiling with tenderness, she turned her gaze to the three boys who were putting food in her( Lily's) plates, she really felt out of place, a strong sense of suffocation overwhelmed her , and tears well up in her eyes, she blinked frantically ,she somewhat felt jealous and lowered her head, walking closer to the dinning table, she took an empty seat beside Raphael. The lively room became silent as everyone gazes was fixed on Anne, whose head was lowered even more and picked on her food, their gaze was so sharp that Anne broke out in cold sweat. " Mom, who is she?" Lily's sweet voice broke the heart-wrenching silence. " She's your cousin from the countryside" Emily explained gently" Don't worry, if you don't like her then don't go close to her, if you like her then be careful" Emily added and Lily nodded in response, Anne head which She lifted when Lily spoke lowered at Emily's words 'was she a bad person, or did city people hate people from the countryside ?' she sighed, her thought was broken by the pain she felt in her thigh, she turned to see Raphael's face, he sneered and whispered "stay away from my sister, or else your life here would be difficult, trust me !", Anne shivered, she really entered the wrong trap, she cried inwardly. "What are you two discussing" Caleb sharply interrupted, and Raphael laughed saying "I told her she's welcome to our house and is free to be friends with anyone and shouldn't have to be worried about mother's words, she just concerned ", the atmosphere grew even heavier, making even the maids nearby shiver. With one word in their mind 'Anne is a jinx '. Everyone slowly lost their appetite.

" Lily,how was school today?" Emily asked with a smile, and Lily happily replied . " mom , it was great ! , the teach thought well too, and then I met all of my friends , but few couldn't make it to the class, cause you know only pupils with good good grades move to the next class ! ". " mom's so proud of you ! " ,the mother daughter duo chatted and laughed , making the room lively again , Anne couldn't speak either , she felt like an hindrance here, like an outcast, if she hadn't come would this family still be so united ?, tears fell slowly..
