Chapter 4: My Butterfly
Chaos erupted as the scorpions charged, faster and deadlier than ever before.
Haku and Mey wasted no time. Standing at a distance, they fired relentlessly, each wielding a neon-pink Glock in both hands.
"If I move, you move with me," Haku instructed firmly, his voice steady despite the chaos.
Mey nodded without hesitation, her focus sharp as she mirrored his movements.
Haku's sharp eyes caught sight of some other players moving closer to their position. Without a word, he veered to the opposite direction, leading Mey away from the crowd. The two sprinted across the field, firing at any scorpions that came too close.
It was working, for now. Though the scorpions were stronger and faster, most players had snapped out of their shock and were now focused on shooting. Bullets flew from every direction, chipping away at the relentless swarm.

The focus shifted to the Crazy Guy, who stood motionless near the door. His massive frame loomed in eerie stillness, but his body betrayed the chaos inside him. His veins bulged unnaturally, pulsating with a faint purple hue. His twisted grin widened, and his eyes burned with an unhinged intensity.
He's losing his mind.
In his head, violent thoughts raced uncontrollably.
That little bastard tricked me. I should've get the girl and crushed him the moment I had the chance. Now it's too late. A thousand scorpions… we're all going to die.
His rage boiled over, amplifying his aggression to an unbearable degree. His hands trembled, his muscles tensed like coiled steel.
A player nearby called out hesitantly, breaking the silence.
"Hey, uh… I've got two guns. You can have one. Here, take it. You, uh, accidentally broke yours, right?"
The Crazy Guy's wild eyes locked onto the player, his vision warping under the influence of the scorpion venom. Colors blurred, sounds distorted, and the world around him seemed to twist into something unrecognizable.
The Crazy Guy stood still for a moment, his grin growing wider. Then, like a raging bear, he charged at the player offering him a gun.
"Here, take the gu—" The words were cut off as the Crazy Guy's fist smashed down, crushing the player's head like a watermelon. Blood splattered everywhere, leaving the others frozen in terror.
Without hesitation, he turned to his next victim, his bloodshot eyes and clenched fists radiating uncontrollable rage.
Meanwhile, Haku and Mey worked together seamlessly. Each shot was precise as they brought down scorpion after scorpion, staying focused on the fight.

Then, a sharp, mechanical sound pierced through the air.
"10 Players Left."
Haku froze for a split second, his sharp eyes narrowing. He turned toward Mey, who wore a confused expression.
"What the…" Haku muttered under his breath. How could so many have died so quickly?
"9 Players Left."
"8 Players Left."
The sound repeated, each announcement like a hammer blow. Haku's gaze darted toward the larger group. His stomach dropped.
At the center of the chaos stood the Crazy Guy, his body monstrous and terrifying. His veins, bulging and glowing faintly purple, looked like they were ready to burst. His massive frame moved like a berserk predator, each step leaving a trail of destruction.
"Holy—what is he doing?" Haku whispered, his grip tightening on his pistols.
Mey followed his gaze, her eyes widening in horror.
"He's… killing them. He's killing everyone!"
Haku could barely believe it. The Crazy Guy rampaged through the remaining players, tearing into them like a wild beast.
Gunfire erupted as desperate players tried to stop him,
but bullets seemed to do nothing. He didn't flinch, didn't stop, didn't even slow down.
"7 Players Left."
"6 Players Left."
"5 Players Left."
The sound of screams of terror filled the air. The Crazy Guy's laughter boomed over the chaos, his voice twisted and maniacal. His fists smashed through flesh and bone with horrifying ease, leaving mangled bodies in his wake.
Haku's sharp mind raced as he watched the carnage unfold. He doesn't even look human anymore… That scorpion venom… It didn't kill him. It changed him.
The Crazy Guy muttered incoherently as he moved from one victim to the next.
"Haha… oh, you thought that'd stop me? Come here, my little butterfly… Strawberry cake? No, no… not strawberry. Hehehe…"
Players screamed, tried to run, but there was no escape. He was faster, stronger, and completely unhinged. Blood soaked the ground, the metallic scent mixing with the already thick air of terror.
"4 Players Left."
"3 Players Left."
And then, the sound stopped.
Haku's pulse thundered in his ears as he stared at the blood-soaked battlefield. The Crazy Guy stood at the center of the carnage, his chest heaving, his fists dripping with blood. The veins across his body pulsed violently, glowing even brighter with a sickly purple hue.
He killed them all… Haku thought grimly, his jaw tightening. He's completely lost it.
Beside him, Mey whispered, her voice barely audible.
"Haku… what do we do?"
The scorpions hadn't stopped their assault, but now the two of them were facing an entirely different threat—a predator far more dangerous than the swarm.
Haku's sharp eyes darted between the swarm of scorpions and the Crazy Guy in the distance. The air was heavy with tension, the clicking of pincers and distant gunfire creating an ominous rhythm.
He turned to Mey, her dual pistols already raised.
"Mey, stay here and focus on taking out as many as you can from a distance," he said, his tone calm but firm. "I'll handle the Crazy Guy and draw the scorpions toward him and me."
Mey blinked, momentarily confused. "Wait—what? Are you serious?"
"Yeah." Haku exhaled deeply, glancing back at the chaos.
"We're on the other side of the field. They're focused on the bigger group near the door. If I pull them toward us, it'll thin their numbers. You can pick them off from here."
Mey hesitated, her grip tightening on her weapons.
"And what if they all come after you?"
"That's the idea," Haku said with a faint smirk. "Just trust me."
Before she could argue, Haku bolted down the hill, his movements swift and deliberate. Mey gritted her teeth but followed his instructions, her pistols trained on the advancing scorpions.
From a distance, the Crazy Guy spotted Haku approaching, his bloodshot eyes narrowing. His twisted grin widened as he cracked his knuckles.
"Oh Finally! My Little Butterfly apperaed!!!! LET ME HUG YOU MY LITTLE BUTTERFLY!!!"
Haku didn't respond. Instead, he sprinted past the Crazy Guy, deliberately moving in a wide arc to draw the scorpions' attention. The swarm shifted, their focus now fully on the Crazy Guy and Haku.
The Crazy Guy's grin turned into a laugh, low and guttural.
"I LIKE PEANUTS AND I LIKE BUTTER BUT I DONT LIKE PEANUTBUTTER HAHAHAHAHHA"
He roared and charged after Haku, his massive frame plowing through the terrain like a beast unleashed.
Haku's mind raced.
Good. He's coming. So are the scorpions. Now Mey can do her thing.
As he ran, Haku weaved through the field, jumping over rocks and ducking under low branches. The scorpions skittered after him, their massive forms crashing through the undergrowth. From her vantage point, Mey steadied her aim and opened fire.
Her first shots hit cleanly, dropping two scorpions mid-charge. She exhaled sharply, her focus narrowing as she continued firing. One by one, the scorpions fell under her relentless assault.
Haku glanced back briefly, his sharp gaze catching Mey's precise shots.
She's incredible. Every bullet counts.
The Crazy Guy was closing in, his laughter growing louder.
"Come here my little Buttefly... oh what a beautyfull day" he bellowed.
His veins bulged unnaturally, glowing faintly purple from the scorpion venom coursing through his body.
Haku sprinted in circles, the Crazy Guy and scorpions chasing him relentlessly.
Mey's hands stayed steady, each shot precise, scorpions falling one by one.

Haku's breaths came evenly as he maintained his pace.
The plan is working. They're all on me.
From behind him, the Crazy Guy roared again, smashing through a low-hanging branch. His wild eyes locked onto Haku. "OI OI OI"
Haku smirked faintly but said nothing, his focus unshaken. His path looped back toward the hill where Mey was stationed, giving her clear shots at the pursuing scorpions.
Mey gritted her teeth, her pistols emptying and reloading in quick succession. She didn't let up, her eyes tracked every move.
Hold it together. Just a little longer,
he thought, his muscles burning as he kept ahead of the deadly pursuit.
If he catches me, I'm done.
"Trust me, you don't want to be alone out here!"
the Crazy Guy mocked, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he mimicked Haku's earlier calm tone. "We need each other to survive, right? Hahaha HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA I WILL EAT YOU MY LITTLE BUTTERFLY !"

The battlefield was a chaotic mess, but the strategy was clear: Haku drew the danger, Mey delivered the kills. Together, they chipped away at the overwhelming odds, one scorpion at a time.
The relentless chaos continued. Mey's sharp aim, coupled with Haku's unwavering agility, whittled down the swarm one by one.

Haku's lungs burned, but he kept running, glancing back occasionally to ensure the scorpions remained locked onto him and the Crazy Guy. His mind raced, but he couldn't help but feel a flicker of awe.

Mey's incredible. How is she this precise?
he thought. Her dual-wielded pistols never faltered, each shot thinning the swarm.

Haku took a sharp turn, leading the scorpions toward the dense edge of the forest. As the numbers dwindled, his focus sharpened.
My plan is working.
he thought, a faint sense of relief creeping in.
We're almost there.

Mey continued firing, her breath steady despite the chaos. The scorpions fell one after another, their massive forms collapsing in heaps.

How long has this been going on?
Haku wondered as he darted between trees.
Fifteen minutes? Twenty?
His admiration for Mey only grew as he noticed her steady, relentless efficiency.

Finally, Haku led the Crazy Guy and the last of the scorpions to a dense, shadowed corner of the forest, out of Mey's line of sight.

The sound of gunfire echoed faintly in the distance, but Mey could no longer see Haku through the trees. She stood frozen, her breathing quickening.
Suddenly, a loud, mechanical voice rang out:
2 Players Remaining.
Mey's body jolted at the announcement, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Two left?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
She stared at the shadows of the trees, her mind spiraling.
No… Haku can't be gone. He wouldn't just leave me. Please… not him.

"Why isn't he back yet?" she muttered, her voice cracking.
Her stomach churned as scenarios flooded her mind—each worse than the last.
Her vision blurred with tears as the silence stretched.
Her grip on her pistols tightened, her knuckles white.
She whispered to herself,
"Haku… please… come back…"
The shadows remained still. No sound. No movement. Nothing.
