The students settled into their seats, their eyes filled with both awe and trepidation. Gilderoy Lockhart stood at the front of the classroom, his usual cheerful grin masking the depth of his true power. Today was not going to be an ordinary lesson, and he could feel the weight of what he was about to do resting on his shoulders.
"Now, as I mentioned, today's class is about going beyond your traditional understanding of magic," he began, his voice calm but laced with an underlying authority that none of the students had ever heard from him before. "Magic is not merely incantations, wands, or potions. It's the very fabric of existence. And in rare cases, the true essence of magic can be captured in objects."
Lockhart reached into the sleeve of his robe and pulled out what appeared to be an ordinary tarot card. But as he held it up for the class to see, a palpable tension filled the room. The card glowed faintly, radiating an ominous energy. It was a tarot card, yes, but not just any card—it was The Fool, an artifact from another world. Gilderoy had seen it once before, in hand of a character called Glenn Radars.

The students leaned in, their curiosity piqued, unaware of the terror that this card could evoke.
"This," Gilderoy began, his voice dropping to a whisper, "is called The Fool. A very special and very dangerous artifact, created by an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries many years ago."
The room went silent, the students hanging on his every word. Unspeakables were legendary in the magical world, wizards who worked in the shadows, researching and guarding some of the most dangerous magical secrets known to wizardkind. The mention of one immediately raised the stakes in the room.
"Imagine," Gilderoy continued, "an artifact so powerful that it renders any wizard or witch utterly defenseless. With this card, no spells can be cast. No charms, no hexes, not even the simplest Lumos. It makes wizards nothing more than defenseless lambs, awaiting the slaughter."
He paused, letting the gravity of his words sink in. Some of the younger students visibly shuddered, while others glanced at their wands as if suddenly realizing how fragile their power truly was.
"The origin of this card is unkown," Gilderoy said softly, his voice taking on a grim edge. "But there are theories that it was created by an wizard who sought to wipe out a cabal of wizards. Againt it entire covens were found—defenseless. Their wands, useless. And when they were powerless, they were butchered, one by one, by the wizard who wielded The Fool."
He flicked the card in his hand, and it spun through the air, landing on a desk at the front of the class. The instant it touched the desk, the entire room was hit with an oppressive wave of silence. Some students instinctively reached for their wands, but to their horror, nothing happened. No sparks flew, no incantations left their lips. The magic was simply…gone.
"I see you've noticed its effects," Gilderoy said with a dangerous smile. "No magic can be performed while the card is active. All of us including me, for all intents and purposes, as defenseless as a Muggle."
A gasp rippled through the room as students struggled to comprehend what they were witnessing. Hermione Granger's hand shot into the air, but even she seemed unnerved.
"But, Professor Lockhart," she asked, her voice uncharacteristically shaky, "isn't there any defense against it? I mean, there must be some way to counteract its power?"
Gilderoy's smile widened, though it didn't reach his eyes. "Ah, Miss Granger. Always the clever one. Unfortunately,I don't know. The Fool doesn't follow the usual rules of magical artifacts. It was designed with one purpose: to strip wizards of their power, and it does that with terrifying efficiency. The only way to avoid its effects… is to be out of its range when it's activated."
The room was now deathly quiet, the weight of Gilderoy's words settling in. He allowed the silence to linger before finally flicking his wrist again. The card disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, and with it, the oppressive magic vanished as well. Students breathed a collective sigh of relief as the familiar hum of magic returned to the room.
"Now," Gilderoy said, his tone brightening as if he hadn't just instilled terror in his students, "let's move on to something that's actually in your syllabus, shall we?"
Author's Note:- 1.The Fool- The Fool's Card: Glenn uses a special anti-magic card called "The Fool's World," which nullifies all magic within a certain area. This makes him especially dangerous against opponents who rely solely on magic.
