Chapter 9: I am your husband
Liana was stunned as she looked at him with wide eyes, she hadn't expected him to make such an offer at all. How could a dangerous man like him act so humane?, She could have sworn that he was asleep how did he know she was having a hard time trying to fall asleep
"What's with that look?, Incase you have forgotten I am your husband not your enemy, dint expect me to treat you like you're my enemy are we clear?" His voice hardened " now it's either you lean on me and recievey warmth so you can sleep comfortably or you continue looking g like a lost puppy, the ball is in your court, Raeliana" He ran his hands through his silky black hair as he spoke. Liana's heart skipped a bit as she heard him talk, and she calmly moved close to him
The back of her head settled on his hard, firm chest and his hands wrapped around her, holding her tightly as the carriage continued to move. Liana couldn't help but marvel internally as his body felt like a perfect cushion as she relaxed into his warm and inviting embrace. This was the first time she found herself in such a position with a man and she didn't hate the feeling, it somehow felt like home, safe.
"How come you're so warm and safe and warm" she breathed softly as she dozed off
"Hush now and sleep wife" he whispered and Liana did as she was told, she was too tired and stressed to argue anymore so she obediently nestled into his arms.
Damian stared at his wife, his queen. He observed how her skin and soft silky silver her glowed as the moonlight fell on her. He took in every detail of her face and smiled briefly to himself as he wrapped his arms tightly around her warm body and took his sweet time observing her closely until a voice woke him from his trance.
"Your Majesty" came a familiar voice
"Raeliana"
She woke up with a jerk and a confused face "Good morning?" she muttered
"What ever you do or hear, do not come out of this carriage." Came his calm voice, he stared at her as she stared back at him. Her eyes wide and red with sleep, her body warm and her face beautiful. She looked so fragile, like a little puppy "Stay inside. It's not a request" he replied her sternly, before she could ask him what was going on he opened the door and jumped out of the carriage closing the door behind him.
Damian smiled as he approached his men who had disturbed his time with his beautiful wife "what took you guys so long, Ralph" he spoke in a cool and calm voice that made everyone around him flinch from fear
A huge man with long brown hair wearing a dark green cloak bowed his head "Apologies, my king. We had a tough time locating the bandits". Damian raised his eyebrows as the huge man named Ralph spoke
"And so?"
"We found them" saying that, Ralph quickly looked at his comrade, who was a bit shorter than him with blonde hair, and gave him a knowing look and the man Kris, immediately butted into the conversation "My king, they aren't just ordinary bandits as the king of Ravens peak had assumed, we believe that they are rouge werewolves, Sire"
Damian's smile turned cold just like the cold weather "Rouge werewolves? If they have turned rouge it means that they no longer please allegiance to the king of Ravens peak and their kingdom. No wonder they had the nerve to attack him and his entourage when he was on his way back to the castle.. interesting". Ralph and the other men nodded their heads.
Facing Ralph, Damian asked with a sinister smile forming on his lips " I believe you brought back trophies Ralph". Ralph gestured to a lean and scrawny looking man with an eye patch and the man dragged out a big bag from behind one of the trees.
"Only one?" Came the sarcastic response from Damian
"Yes you're Majesty, we managed to trick them out of their hiding by using some of the kingdoms royal horses, the fight lasted for some hours before the survivors retreated back into the woods,"
He paused and looked at Damian, whose attention seemed divided "this was the only one we were able to take alive thanks to Russo's healing ability" Ralph answered
Damian's face remained calm as he stared at the carriage" so you're trying to tell me, that I sent my most fierce and bravest soldier's and they couldn't chase a couple of werewolves?"
The man with the eye patch Russo was the one to speak "Apologies your grace, they turned out to be smarter than we had estimated them to be, we thought we were dealing with ordinary bandits, Sire"
"Meaning?" Damian asked him without batting an eye to his direction
"The moment they ran into the woods it was as if they vanished into thin air, your Majesty, we couldn't find them anywhere" Kris butted in
"Wolves vanishing into thin air?" Damian's cute smile returned to his face. "Untie him, I'd like to know his name"
....
A soul wrenching and bone chilling scream filled Liana's ear a few minutes after her husband had left her alone in the carriage. Her throat felt dry and her face became pale as fear spread through out her body. What was going on? Were they under attack? But the voice belonged to just one person so what was going on?
Liana's body and soul became numb from fear, curiosity and cold as the growls and screams grew louder and louder with each and every second that passed. As the cruel and painful sound faded she gently bit her lips in an attempt to stop her self from trembling with fear as she crawled towards the door.
As she pushed the door open, cold wind welcomed her and her body froze, not because of the wind but because of the sight that she saw her husband's men watching.
Her husband stood still as a statue, with a sinister smile on his face, his hands and sword was painted with a dark shade of red as he looked at the half dead bloodied man missing a leg and an arm without mercy or sympathy, while another man with an eye patch was trying to attach the leg back to the body.
"Commander Jin, take your men and the captive back to the king of Ravens, tell him I have done my part he should continue from where I stopped"
