Chapter 16: PERFECT COUPLE
Ethan held back for a second and withdrew his previous "calm and rational" statement.
"So, what does that have to do with you throwing yourself at me?" There was no emotion in his deep eyes.
Isabella clenched her fists in anger. "It's because that family is very loving and harmonious. Mr. Anthony seems to love his wife and children very much, so I thought he would have a good impression of a loving couple. I'm just helping you make a good impression."
Don't make it seem like she's taking advantage of him.
Ethan nodded, seemingly agreeing with her argument.
Isabella stared at him with wide eyes. Just a nod? No apology or thank you?
Ethan finally said with great kindness, "It's late, get some rest."
Then he got up and left.
Isabella: "???"
What a jerk!
Although she found it unbelievable, Ethan listened to what Isabella said.
While Isabella rested, he continued to arrange for people to investigate Mr. Anthony's information.
Isabella was so angry that she couldn't fall asleep until midnight, but fortunately, she was young and even though she only slept for a few hours, she woke up refreshed the next morning.
Unexpectedly, Ethan got up earlier than her. He was casually dressed and eating breakfast in the dining room.
Isabella looked at him with confusion. "Aren't we supposed to discuss the contract today? Shouldn't you dress more formally?"
Ethan seemed to be in a good mood, and there was a hint of a smile in his eyes as he replied, "Sit down. Mr. Anthony has postponed the meeting to this afternoon. So, we're going to play golf this morning."
"Golf?" Isabella searched her mind and realized that she had never learned this skill before. "I'm not going."
"You have to go," Ethan paused and continued, "that family of three from yesterday will also be there."
Isabella's eyes instantly lit up. "So, you found out that the man from yesterday was Mr. Anthony?"
She guessed it right!
"Not confirmed yet, but most likely," Ethan had his people check Mr. Anthony's flight yesterday and based on the timing, it was almost the same as the family of three's arrival time. And there was only one passenger on the plane with communication barriers.
Mr. Anthony will take his son to play golf in the morning, so he planned to bring Isabella along for a chance encounter.
Isabella thought that Ethan wanted to "make friends through golf" and hesitated, "But I don't know how to play."
Ethan looked at her, and his eyes became strange. "It's better if you don't."
Isabella asked, "Huh?"
After breakfast, Isabella and Ethan set off for the largest golf course in Crown City.
These high-end golf courses are membership-based, with membership fees costing millions per year, and advance reservations required to rent the course.
If that family really came here to play golf yesterday, it would prove that they were not ordinary tourists.
They arrived at the golf course and first went to the locker room to change clothes before heading to the pre-rented venue.
The weather was nice today, clear and windless, perfect for playing golf.
Ethan picked a suitable club for Isabella and said, "Here, give it a try."
Isabella stood on her tiptoes, trying to spot Mr. Anthony and his family.
Seeing her tense expression, as if she were about to do something important, Ethan couldn't help but remind her, "Relax, you're here on vacation."
Isabella stopped looking for people and asked Ethan, "So what exactly is my task? Can you be more specific?"
"I told you, your task is to have fun," Ethan paused and then added with a frown, "And to show affection with me."
Being affectionate with Isabella was a kind of torture for Ethan, but he had to do it for the project. Isabella looked at him with disdain. What did that mean? Was it his turn to be scorned? If she hadn't sworn in front of her parents' graves to reclaim the Wilson Corporation, she would never have approached this man for a second!
Isabella snorted and turned to see a family of three playing ball not far away. She immediately became excited and said, "Look, is that them?"
Ethan didn't even glance in that direction. He was carefully selecting a golf club and said, "Come here and stand still."
Ethan made Isabella stand in the designated position and began teaching her the correct golf posture.
"Stand still, grip the club with both hands, adjust your breathing, and slightly bend your hips and knees." Ethan adjusted her posture while speaking.
He spoke close to her ear, and the warm air he exhaled tickled her. Isabella couldn't help but move slightly.
Ethan immediately straightened her up and said sternly, "Don't look at me like that."
Taking a deep breath, Isabella reminded herself to focus. Fully armed with resolve today, she concentrated on playing golf. If she could learn it, she would have one more skill in her arsenal.
With this mindset, Isabella focused all her attention on the golf club.
"Move your arms with your shoulders, stand firm, aim. Okay, swing the club and hit it hard!"
With a buzzing sound, a white golf ball flew out. With Ethan's guidance, Isabella's first swing wasn't bad at all.
"Yay!" Isabella jumped up happily, looking just like a young girl. Despite being 22 years old, her youthful energy made her seem younger.
Her joyful expression quickly caught the attention of Anthony and his family nearby. Anthony's son pointed at them and gestured something to his father in sign language. Anthony shook his head, but his son persisted, and Anthony smiled helplessly.
Before long, Anthony and his family approached. Anthony's wife greeted them with a warm smile. "Hello, this is my husband Anthony, and this is my son, Adam."
Isabella maintained her composure, initiating pleasantries as if she didn't know who they were. "Hello, my name is Isabella, and this is my husband, Ethan. Is there something we can help you with?"
"I noticed Mrs. Anderson seems to be playing golf for the first time. My son is also a beginner, and he finds it boring to practice alone. He wants to play with Mrs. Anderson. Is that okay?" Anthony's wife asked apologetically.
Her son, Adam, broke free from her hand and ran to Isabella.
"Big sister, can I play with you?" he asked with a smile.
